Does anyone have any salad dressing recommendations? I dont care for any of the JC dressings. I am gonna go to the store and take a packet of the JC dressing with me so I know what nutritional info to look for.

I of course love blue cheese and ranch but will try any of the dressings that will fit into this plan.

Not sure about creamy dressings, but I'm loving the Wishbone Bountifuls. Low to no fat, though. So add a fat serving to your day. I'll drizzle the pan with some olive oil for cooking up my dinner veggies.

The very best is FARMER BOY RESTAURANT - House recipe Greek Dressing. One JC fat/serving is 4 tablespoons so you can split it up and have two salads a day. Delicious. Our Publix stores carry it - but have also seen it at specialty markets.

I use a couple that I love. ken's salad dressing has a few low fat versions that I particularly like- the ceasar, romano cheese, balsamic vinagrette and asian ones. I also eat a creamy one from Trader Joe's that is cilantro - yummy - it is int he refridgerated section. I too love blue cheese, so I buy a reduced fat blue cheese crumble and add that to my salads as my one ounce of cheese. Sometimes wiht just the crumbles, I do nto even need dressing.

Hope you find one you like

Any salad dressing is fine. It's all about the portion size. Can you tolerate low fat in favor of larger portion? Or is nothing worth it if it's not the real thing? Either way is fine, just juggle the numbers. JC dressing = 1 fat exchange = 45 calories, 5 g fat.

I use salad spritzers dressings which are fat free and low calorie. I prefer to use my fat exchanges for peanut butter, nuts, or olives. If you go for a low fat or fat free version though, watch the calories! Many are VERY high in sugars, more than making up for the reduction in fat. Better to go with a full-fat version and use a small portion. You could thin it out with water, lemon or lime juice, or fat free yogurt.

lesterlou - that's why I love the Wishbone Bountifuls. Really low on calories and no fat (some flavors). And, they're chunky... the Santa Fe one is like a salsa, almost.Veggies are the #2 ingredient (after water).

An interesting side note... the vitamins and nutrients found in salad are fat-soluable. That means they can only be absorbed by the body in the presence of fat. There's a reason salad dressing is a fat! It's good for you! Still, I prefer olives or nuts (avocado would work too) on my salads and a fat free dressing. But unless you're just looking for bulk from your salads, have a little fat with it!

lesterlou - I don't think we're in any danger of not getting enough fat, on the JC diet - whether it's coming from salad dressing or elsewhere. If you eat your salad with a JC meal, you're covered, as far as fat goes. But, good point.

It's not the quantity of fat, but rather when you eat it. I realize it's a fine point... I'm not feeling at risk of not getting enough nutrients if I don't have a fat with my salad. Just pointing out that it helps the nutrients in the salad break down and contribute more to your body that way. I prefer to eat my nutrients rather than take supplements, so eating fat with salad does make me feel better about getting more in.
