Full Version: Any Chai Tea Lovers Out There?

I love ordering chai tea - am not a coffee drinker. WalMart carries a sugar-free (Oregon Chai brand) chai latte concentrate that I think is great! There aren't any calories in it, and you mix it one-to-one with skim milk. So I had a nice big mug (16 oz) of chai tea to enjoy with my chocolate caramel peanut bar tonight -- what a great snack! There are a lot of JC foods that are okay - esp. when I remind myself that I'm able to lose weight while eating it. But this was really great and satisfying! I'm sure you can brew chai tea, add sweetner and get a similiar result. . . . but I like this! Just wanted to share.

I love Chai tea too! I weekly order a tall, nonfat tazo chai from Starbucks and count it as a milk. I also do not drink coffee. I will have to see if the Walmarts in Canada carry that concentrate - I buy Stash chai spice black tea, and it is pretty good (teabags).

A nice cup of chai tea with the cinnamon twists was heavenly - I sure hope they bring that snack back.

Far-out mom,

Thanks for the information. I do like chai tea and hate all those calories in Starbuck's Chai lattes. I will definitely look for the concentrate my next trip to Wal-Mart. I'm all for a way to disguise nonfat milk (hate it plain) and am getting very tired of yogurt twice a day.

Thanks again

actually, a tall (12 oz) nonfat Chai latte from Starbucks is only 150 calories. An 8 oz glass of 1% milk is 110 calories, which is what I would drink instead of nonfat if I were to drink it plain, so the Starbucks option for a milk is pretty darn good!

Milks according to my Jenny's Grocery list, if it is 20% calcium, it can count as dairy option, and it can be nonfat or 1% - but it is supposed to be max 110 calories. According to the Starbucks website, the latte is 20% calcium, but as it is 12 oz maybe it really is closer to 1.5 milk exchanges, but I know the JC dieticians have stated before that it is OK to count it as 1 milk.

wow 1sped1 - you are doing awesome on your Jenny journey - you are so close to your original goal - good job! I have a hard time with plain milk too. My JCC has OK'd drinking 1% choc milk (160 cal for 8oz) and just counting it as 1 milk + 1 limited free.

Ladybug,

Thanks for the info and the compliment. My "journey" is going so slow now. I will get to my goal- eventually... Happily, I feel absolutely awesome so its all good!

I guess I have steered clear from the Chai lattes at Starbuck's because my friend gets a Venti one everyday- (at least one) I think one is 350 cals or something! I definitely need to re-read my Jenny info and get on board with the milk exchanges. I've been doing this so long I am stuck in a rut and need to venture out a bit!

Thanks again for the info and have a great day!
