I'm starting to get bored with the snack items and its causing me to want to eat other non JC dessert foods. What are some of your favorite things to do with the snack items that keep things 'fresh'?
Thanks!

I like to dip the sourdough bites in mustard like pretzels - its a free food. I also like to put FF Cool Whip in the middle of my chocolate cake and make it like a Ho Ho. Its a limited Free food so you can't do a soupitizer and a syrup on that day. I also use FF Cool Whip on SF Jello - my favorite is Green or orange, its kind of like a creamcicle. I freeze vanilla yogurt and crumble the chocolate chip bar on top of it for a sundae and count it as my dairy and snack for the day. Sometimes I slice up the lemon cake and spread lemon yogurt mixed with a little splenda and spread a litle FF Coolwhip on it for a super lemon sorbet like dessert but, you do have to make this one ahead of time. It takes about 4 hours to freeze right. These are some of the tricks I use. Hope that you might find one you like!

The creative recipe book gave this idea but you can make an oreo smoothie by blending the frozen cookies and cream cheesecake, milk, and a few ice cubes together.
I mix it up by eating some of the cakes frozen. Then later I'll eat them thawed. Or eat them heated. The lemon hot is really good with fresh fruit on top.
Crumble the oat bar on top of fruit and heat to make a faux cobbler.

For pure inventiveness, I've learned how to make an awesome "Bloody Mary" out of the Tomato Florentine Soupitizer. I even made some for my neighbors and they love it!!
Granted, take these in moderation or you will be joining another program in addition to JC

I like to make a blueberry sauce to top the lemon cake with. Toss about 1/2 c. blueberries (fresh or frozen) in a small saucepan with a tsp. lemon juice, a tiny bit of water, and a sprinkle or two of cinnamon. Just bring to a low boil and let cook a few minutes until they become a bit soupy. Use it warm or let it cool off.

Thats such a great idea to crumble the oat bar on top of some fruit!
I could barely stand it before, too dry.
I am GOING to order this next week, for breakfast
Add it to some peaches, blueberries, a few strawberries (I know, limited free) and probably a serving of FF cool whip, (again, unlimited free). Yum!
Sounds like a GREAT breakfast, and it'll probably feel like cheating lol.

Here's an idea for a "free" dessert when you are really craving something rich and creamy and non diet-like...
Put a spoonful of cool whip free in a glass and pour ice cold diet a&w root beer over it.
I swear it tastes just like a root beer float!!! So very yummy when you are really wanting something sweet but don't want to blow it.

I know it's not a JC snack and everybody probably already does it but,
I really enjoy dicing up two fresh local peaches (just going out of season

)
and mixing it with 6 ozs of nonfat plain yogurt, then letting it chill in the freezer for an hour
then i sprinkle it with cinnamon, truely a wonderful snack.
Also someone in chat suggested putting the bruschetta chips in a soupitizer
I mixed them with cottage cheese once, it was okay, lol

The "cobbler" idea was a wonderful suggestion! Thanks! I just did this with an extra oat bar I had and probably would have just kept stashed away. I microwaved a snack pack sized can of diced peaches in their own juice in a bowl for 2 and a half min. to thicken it and make it more fruit cobbler consistency. It absorbed most of the juice and cooked the peaches like a real cobbler. (I didn't add Splenda but if I had it would have been even more decadent. ) I then crumbled the oat bar over the top of the peaches and returned to the microwave for another minute. Delicious!!!!! I am out of FF Cool Whip but that would have made the entire thing sinful. wow. I am going to do that again and soon!

I make my own Chai Latte as a milk snack. A cup of non-fat milk in a Pyrex measuring cup (at least 2 cups) put in 2 teaspoons of loose Chai tea (I use a decaf version) and warm at a low setting in the microwave. Let it steep a few minutes and give a quick blast with the microwave to rewarm and strain. I like mine sweet so I add a Splenda.
Brewing in milk is a traditional way to make Chai and the only way you will get it strong enough when you use non-fat milk.QUOTE(heart33 @ Oct 1 2008, 03:05 PM)

I don't take the time to brew my own - for quickie chai latte you can buy the oregon trail sugar free chai latte (WalMart carries it) and mix it 1 to 1 with skim milk. Awesome! Love it with my sweet snack - if I've managed to have both the snack and milk available!

This is similar to some of the other posts.. but I like to take the Yoplait strawberry shortcake yogurt mix with ff cool whip and freeze for about 1 1/2 hours. The lemon one like this is really good too.

I like to make a "cream cheese frosting" for the lemon cake. Soften 1 Tbl. ff cream cheese (limited free) in the microwave, mix in Splenda or other sweetener to taste. Slice the lemon cake (thawed) in half and spread the "frosting" in the middle. Top with the other half of the cake and warm in the micro. YUM!

Back to the fruit cobbler snack idea.
I like to slice up an apple in thin slices, sprinkle with cinnamon and splenda (or a flavored splenda like caramel) and microwave for 1 -2 minutes. Then crumble the JC oat bar on top and add FF cool whip. It is so over the top delicious.
Tastes exactly like yummy apple pie.
