Anyone using a Wii fit for exercise? How do you like it?
doriesmith
Hi~

I've been using the WII Fit for about 1 week now and I love it. It is fun enough to get and keep my attention and it is challenging enough to work up a good sweat. The other nice thing about it is, is it will track your weight and BMI and show your progress. I tend to get bored doing the same workouts all the time and the WII Fit has enough games or exercises to prevent me from getting bored.

I love it. After hearing so much about it and a couple of my neighbors purchased the item for themselves, I decided to check into it. I love it!! It's challenging enough for me and as I do more, more games open up. I wasn't active so this has helped me ease into getting exercise. I love the fact that it tracks your weight and BMI.

I love my WiiFit I have been doing it for 30 minutes a day for 44 days straight now.

I've been using it for a little over a month and I love it! I like seeing how I'm progressing with my BMI and weight. I especially like the step and the strength exerices. There's a cool boxing exercise too. As you get good at exercises it gets harder, which is good. Lots of fun!

I got it after reading about it in the exercise forum here. It is alot of fun and surprisingly challenging. I use it for an hour 3 times per week and mix in all sorts of exercises for balance, yoga, strength training and aerobics. You get to do fun things like hitting soccer balls with your head while trying to dodge cleats that are being thrown at you. You get to hula hoop, slalom ski, walk tight ropes, etc... You have to do so many minutes in order to unlock other games and exercises. So, it keeps you striving to do as much as you can to get the rest of the game unlocked so you can use it. It's just fun while exercising. And you get scored on your performance, so if you are competitive like I am, it's fun trying to beat your score (or your hubby's when he thinks he can do better than you!!!).

I just bought one this weekend. So far it's been entertaining, but I'm hoping that as I get better, the workouts get a little more intense. I would say it's probably going to be good for helping with balance, flexibility and toning, but probably not much for working up a sweat. I play tennis several times a week and also do Zumba twice a week (GREAT workout), so get plenty of exercise, but could clearly use some help with balance!

I'll try to remember to post again in a few weeks, after I unlock more activities.

ps - Has anyone else noticed that hitting soccer ball is much more difficult than hitting the cleats??!!

I received Wii fit for my birthday in July. I love it!!! It also helps track BMI and weight. Keeps track of activity time. This is perfect for any level of fitness. I have learned yoga and have improved my balance to almost perfect. The only problem is fighting my kids for the Wii. It's great.

rolleyes.gif Hi,
The Wii is fun. I am very un-cordinated, and have no balance..but i will work at it. i did it for 45 minutes yesterday..I worked up a sweat, and it felt good. The Nintendo, along with the Wii fitness cost us $500. with an extended warranty...It is pricey, but the more you use it, will make it worht it. I f..I can do it,anyone can...trust me.....
Christine2264
rolleyes.gif Thank God for my Wii, i am having so much fun, and I love all the exercise I am getting from using it...I feel good... smile.gif christine

I purchased the wii fit a few days after joining JC 4 weeks ago. I love it!!! I am up to 52 min a day at least 5 days a week. The tracking on there is great to track my progress. It is so fun and I miss it on the 2 days a week I don't do it. I am finding that I am increasing on my stamina and I am not as sore as I was before I started.

I do 30 min of yoga, 16 strength, and 6 min of hula hoop. Its so easy that I don't realize how much I am doing.
Christine2264
Jill,
i do the Wii fitness 3-4 days a week. I love doing all the tennis, bowling, baseball & boxing practices, over and over again... I have so much fun!!!!! It is a great work out, I get my heart pumping and I sweat..I do it 2-3 hours a day, along with bowling and playing tennis matches with my hubby to be each night too. Also, we do the the sports practices for 2 people and try to out do one another. Do you know, last night was the first night in a month that we actually watched a movie.. Since we purchased our Wii, we hardly ever watch television, we would rather play games, and exercise...It is amazing how addictive the Wii is,it is an investment, but, the amount we have used it, we have pai for it over and over again...I am glad your enjoying your Wii too.
With out it i would be lost, the same thing with my JC Pedometer,I wear it while i exercise on the Wii and my steps triple...and not to mention the calories i burn..it amazes me. now, i am getting a bodybugg for Christmas,I can't wait!!!!!! Hope you have a great holiday season. take care, Christine smile.gif

That is Great news!! Maybe the Wii Fit is what I need to break through this plateau I've been on (and I've been on it forever!). I just wish I didn't have to wait on Santa for it, but a week won't be too bad I suppose.

What are your favorite games or activities? I saw soccer, shoe ducking, and yoga seem to be favorites. And do you need to have more than one balance board for more than one player? More than 2? How does that work?

Thanks Ladies!!

Hi mamaof3,
the Wii fit is the board(you buy extra) and it comes with games you earn as you improve,it has balance games,aerobics,yoga..it tabulate your weight, and BMI..you place your weight goals and it will tell you if you lost weight or gained...It has i proved my eye/hand coordination, balance & stamina...you can by a separate dvd of advanced skiing..for the Wii fit.
Now the Wii is for all the games. They run around $29.99-$59.00 per dvd, some may be more..
No, you take turns using the Wii fit,and we use to remotes....
On various Wii games you need steering wheels, tennis rackets, numchuckes, guns etc...It gets expensive...With the Wii, Wii fitness board, games remotes, numchucks, steering wheels, guns, remote covers,maintanence-extended warranty plan on both Wii and Wii fitness board, etc..and other accesories, we have spent easily $1,200.00 in 2 months...it is fun and very addictive...great exercise..will get your heart pumping, and you will perspire A-L-O-T!!!!!
Did i answer all your questions? let me know..if i can answer anymore questions or concerns(please, i hope you bought the extended warranty on both, some states do not have distibution centers so if your equipment breaks you get a new one...otherwise you ship it to a distribution center to repair it).....It is better to be safe then sorry....This Wii is an investment for my fiancee and I,a luxurary item.. have a great day!!! my name is Christine, take care!!!!! smile.gif

Wanted to post to say we LOVE our Wii fit! Have used it everyday since Santa brought it. Even the kids enjoy the balance games. I was very skeptical about it's effectiveness, but I can tell you I am so sore! It works! I start going back to the Y on Monday and will continue with the wii fit.

On a side note, I have been having hard time with the weight loss since i joined in October, but I had my measurements taken last week and have shaved off 4 inches! So the weight should come. I lost 1 pound over Christmas but I think I gained 2 lbs this week over New Years. Which is still a victory because I gained 15lbs by this time last year!

Hope you all did well over the holidays! I'm working on getting to my goal weight by April 1st. We're taking the kids to FL to hang out on the beach for a few days and I really want to fit into my favorite swimsuit. I hate buying those things!

I got mine in at the end of October, it was an early Christmas gift from my son. I work out at least 5 times a week for about 1 hour and 10 minutes. I have lost 21 lbs, have 2 more to get to my goal weight. Good luck!!! I also have just bought the Biggest Loser Cd, Boot camp, it is intense !!!

Hi,

Santa Brought my wii fit and I love it. If I am not doing that I am at the gym. I find myself exercising 30 min almost everyday. It is really a lot of fun. When I first started I was really sore so I guess it's working! biggrin.gif

What do you do for 30 minutes?! Maybe I've got the wrong idea ... but I get bored with it!!! I'm curious: whats your WII Fit routine??
Jordee
I love the Wii fit. I have been doing it since I started JC. It adds a great combination with say like just only doing the treadmill or walking. I also suggest trying the FITNESS COACH for the Wii--it'sawesome....It is like having a persoal trainer working out with you. Good luck!!

I got the My Fitness Coach for the Wii and love it! It is an acutal workout but is customized to your level of ability. And you don't have to have the balance board. It keeps track of weight and measurements. The workouts are varied and you can use various equipment if you have it. I use a stability ball and hand weights. I like it much better than a video because it changes up the workouts and you can work specific areas if you want. I highly recommend it!

I'm really excited for the new E fitness for the WII which is due to come out on the 19th. I guess its way more intense than the WII fit.

Have a good day!

I just reserved a copy of the new EA Active for the Wii, which comes out on the 19th, but my store is staying open after midnight on the 18th so I hope to get it then in order to work out first thing Tuesday morning. It looks like it will really give you a great workout. Especially the resistance bands. I really need to do more upper body exercise. It would be fun to do a 30 day challenge with others. I will report back after I give it a try.

I completed Day 4 of the 30 Day Challenge for the EA Active personal trainer for the Wii. I had been walking and using light weights since I started JC on 4/2/09, so I thought I was using my muscles. Boy, was I wrong. This new video game is really kicking my butt. I am really feeling the muscles I wasn't using by walking. I started using the game at the right time, too, because it has been raining almost nonstop here for the past week. I would love to hear if anyone else is using this game.

I had a .8 weight loss this week which I believe is due to not walking and having a very stressful week due to end of the year school projects for the kids and my own work projects, but even a .8 loss is still a loss.

I used to get bored with the Wii Fit too! I bought my fitness coach and jillians, and I really like My fitness coach. I still use that as a warm up now that I got EA active and am doing the 30day challenge and holy cow is it kicking my butt!!! Today will be day 6, with 2 on and 1 off, and wow i love it! its amazing and I don't like working out and now I do!!
Murlin
I am also doing the Wii Active 30-day challenge. Today was day 1... so far, so good. I think it is awesome that you add a new activity each day. I started on moderate and am hoping that it is not too intense... I am really excited about loving exercise. I don't know who this person is!! LOL!
glacierbabe
Just started JC and Wii......Wii is really easy and alot of fun. You don't even KNOW you are working out on some of the games. I'm excited to get more advanced with it. The tips are great from everyone....Thx
