Full Version: Who makes menu decisions??
Jenny Craig > Food and Dining Out > Favorite Foods

As I'm sure everyone on this program does, there are certain menu items that I prefer to others.
I've been fascinated that some dishes that I don't like, happen to be one of the most popular items for JC.
There is an assistant at my JC center that catalogs all of the food and helps people when they are picking up their week's supply. I asked him which are the most popular items, and which are not. He said the following
were the most popular for our store (A medium sized center located near San Jose, CA). He said, 1) Breakfast Scrambles 2) Turkey Burgers 3) Pasta Fagioli were all the most popular in their meal category. The weakest sellers were 1) Breakfast Burrito 2) Homestyle Chicken with Noodles and 3) Mesquite Chicken.

I'd be interest to hear how other parts of the country might differ on taste.

Why do things like the Chicken with Noodles stay on the menu, and things like the Cinnamon sticks or the Cajun Rice get pulled after a successful trial? Does JC actually look at feedback, or does a marketing team decide what "should" be popular??

BTW - Of the most popular stated only the breakfast scrambles make it into my weekly "Gotta have" basket.

Ask around your center and share with everyone what is popular where you live.

OMG, I can't believe Mesquite Chicken was one of the weakest! That is one of my top 3 favorites! I just had it tonight, actually. The chicken is a good size and is very juicy!

Pasta Fajioli? The most popular? You gotta be kidding me!!!

Turkey burgers RULE!!! Breakfast Scramble ROCKS!!! I can understand those ones being popular.

Hi all
Well .... I think my newest fav is the panini turkey sandwich ....
my taste have changed ....

also, i am really big on the fiber ... so i get the lentils once or twice a week.
I try to stay clear of the carbs w/o fiber.

what i've learned is to really balance the meals with fiber ... cuz fiber really soaks up the carbs ...
carlbs = calories and calories equal pounds and ounces ....

i usually add Harry and Davids' Onion and Pepper sauce to most of my meals ....
love the spice and it is all "free" foods .... bummer is there isn't a store near by, so i have to order on line and it isn't cheap! but well worth the added favor!

love the triple choco cheese cake
love the potato - with onion and pepper sauce of course
love the turkey and gravy
love the oats - added to yogurt .... yummy!
love the meat ball sandwich

give me fiber - and i will lose weight
add 10,000 steps and i will lose more weight
add 8 to 10 glasses of water and i will lose even more

I really notice the difference when i don't walk daily and if i don't drink my water!

hang in there .....

"Pasta Fajioli? The most popular? You gotta be kidding me!!!"

Hey, what can I say about the demographics of Northern California. People here probably think it's some sort of fusion, trendy dish. They also might look at the calories. at 210, it's the lowest caloried dinner offered. I eat it, but it certainly isn't one of my most popular dishes.

I use to love the breakfast scramble and had it one day and did not like it, I have yet to try it again. My fave's are enchilada, turkey dinner, rising crust pizza, potstickers, meatball sandwhich, chick stuff sandwhich, burrito, lasagna, breakfast stuff sandwhich, turkey panini, thai chick souptizer, chili, HI chick salad & cheesecake.
I have to say I only tried the HI chick salad because I read on the boards how people loved it. This item is also now off the menu but I bought 10 to have on hand. It is a great "emergency" kit for when you are on the go and need to grab something. It is a good question on why they introduce items and they are a "hit" but then they take them off.

[I was intrigued by this so asked my CD. She said in our centre it is the French Toast, Turkey Burgers and Chicken Fettucine. Funny because I don't like any of them.

Wow I am in shock tha Pasta Fajioli is popular anywhere. It was the only JC dish I actually couldn't eat! I really disliked the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Salmon, but I could eat them. Pasta Fajioli - Really??? Barf! The only thing I agree with is the Turkey Burger. Breakfast scramble is ok, but I only get it once or twice a month. I am just not a big breakfast person - I eat the cereals and muffins mostly. I have never heard of the breakfast burrito but I agree with all the other bottom dishes, not my favorites and I never get them!

I just had to say that I LIKE the pasta fagioli...

Wow, I would have never thought that the pasta figioli would make it as a top must have. I have to ask in my center but for me personally. Its the Mesquite Chicken for dinner, for lunch is the new Panini but if not it would be the Ck or Meatball sandwich or the Turkey burger, and for breakfast I LOVE the muffins.

I love the french toast, rotini wt meatballs, & the vegetable potstickers... they're GREAT!!!

The pasta fagoli and sweet & sour chicken are a couple things I probably won't have again. Oh and those chocolate graham things.
