how horrid the chocolate graham cracker twists were??? When I opened them I was disappointed to realize they weren't chocolate covered goodies. But I got over that. What I couldn't get over was the horrible taste and aftertaste those things had. I mean, seriously. I was so bummed when I realized that was my snack when I could have had something *good* like cake or cheesecake - I will never buy those again - blech
BringinsexyBeck
Sheltie, I totally agree! I was so disappointed by those. I found some 100 calorie packs of chocolate-covered pretzels by Nabisco though, and they are really good. Just hard to eat only 1 pack, though, so be careful if you get them!

I'm glad I'm not the only one LOL I guess I'm so used to the snacks/desserts being really good and quite frankly a bit decadent that those really threw me for a loop. I had to brush my teeth right away because I seriously couldn't get over the taste. I was like, wait, is there something wrong with this pack or is this standard? All I know is those are going off my list for good *shudder* LOL!
emerald_green
I was kinda let down also, but found them to be edible. I suppose somebody out there must like them or they wouldn't bother having them on the menu.
AvivaG
Dare I say, these are one of my favorite snacks! ohmy.gif But I don't really go for sweet, so I can imagine that you'd be disappointed if you were expecting them to be like a true chocolate covered pretzel or graham cracker. They should probably call them something else.

My favorite chocolate treat is actually flavored with chili pepper! (They call it "heart-warming".) There's another one from the same company that's smoky and really deeply flavored. I'm glad I found them, but they are not for everyone, as they are not a true chocolate candy.

Vive la différence!

I, too, am a big fan of the chili pepper choclate smile.gif A few months back a friend of mine surprised me with a rather large bar knowing how much I liked it. I thought the brand he got (can't think of it now) was rather mild - he thought it was too spicy LOL

I'm wondering if the bag of twists I got were somehow defective. Were yours really, really hard and also had a kind of whitish powder dusting them?
AvivaG
Gosh, I wish I had a bag right now to be sure.... I don't recall them having any powdery stuff, nor were they "really, really hard", but they are crunchy. I just got braces off my teeth, so I seem to be sensitive/aware of how crunchy things are. That was the one thing I really missed during the 3+ years I was in treatment.

It's possible you really did get a bad bag. Maybe wait a few weeks 'til the trauma wears off a bit, wink.gif and your Center gets a fresh supply (confirm!), and try them again. They do seem to tweak the food now and then, so it's good to revisit the things that you thought you disliked every few months. Helps to break any monotony.

What brand of chili chocolate did you get? The one I get only comes in bite-sized pieces. (Probably best for me!)
texascowgirl

I really like the Choc Graham Twists. Sometimes they do seem a little hard, and sometimes not. I have never received any that had any whitish powder on them. Maybe the ones you had were old?

They definitely have a ''different'' flavor, but I like them! I order 1 to 2 bags of these every week! smile.gif

I usually like these, but I think I got a stale bag this week too - maybe a bad batch. They aren't as chocolately as other tems, but one way to spruce them up is to put a little bit of lite cool whip between 2 of them and freeze then eat. It's like an ice cream sandwich!
LabradorLady
THe first time I ate them I thought I had a stale bag, but the 2nd time I realized they are just icky! LOL
No problem...I could eat the Smore's bars everyday!
alexandrazenas
I honestly have to say that I DID think that they would be chocolate-COVERED graham pretzels the first time I had them, and I too was a little disappointed at first. But I've come to really like them, actually. They have a different flavor to them, but now I think they're really good.

I didn't mind these, but seeing as I never bought them again... ohmy.gif

These were not what I expected either, but I think they're OK. I get them every once in a while.

HOWEVER, I had an idea last night that might make them really good.

I crushed them up some and mixed them with vanilla yogurt and a little FF cool whip. It was interesting. Worth fooling around with.

Am thinking that these could be used like chocolate cookie crumbs for desserts. For instance, could you crush these up, put in bottom of a dish and then spoon yogurt on top and then freeze it kind of like a pie? Or what about rolling a banana in the crumbs and freezing that?

I'm sure there are some creative folks that could come up with some cool ideas.

I have to take back what I said about these snacks -- the last bag I ate had turned rancid! Super Yuck!! Maybe they were kept some place too warm, maybe next to the freezer... The worst part was that I was due for my weigh in and didn't have another snack to eat.
My JCC said she doesn't like them, so they are off the list for a while!

On a positive note, pumpkin spice cakes are here!!! Not crunchy, but really tasty.

I like these... and my co-workers have tried them and like them. too.

I threw mine away after eating one. The oil in them had gone rancid.

I like the twists, but the last bag I got were rancid. I checked the expiration date, and it was early October. Guess they're trying to get rid of old stock.

I'm suprised to hear that there have been people who like the Chocolate graham twists and turn around and got a bad bag. Maybe the first one I got was bad...honestly there have only been two things I could not eat for me it was the Pasta Fagioli dinner and the Chocolate Graham Twists snack. I chalked the snack up to - just not my taste. Mine did have a "powder like" look to them, but what I found offsetting was the DRYNESS of them. I need a glass of water just to think about them. The flavor was just ok, and I did think I was eating chocolate covered pretzels, but wow...boring when it comes to JC's desserts. I wish they would bring back the BBQ soy nuts! Crunchy and salty! I even bought every flavor at the grocery to snack on after I lost all my weight on my first JC stint and none of the store brands were as good as JC's! (By the way - it took me 8 years and an additional pregnancy to gain my weight back!)
KKnCA
I've tried them 2x's 2 weeks apart. They're a no go for me. They were flavorless and cardboard like.
I didn't finish either bag.

angry.gif Hi,
I agree, I only get the chocolate cake, lemon cake and the cheese curls. The chocolate covered graham twists taste like sawdust and it sure isn't chocolate on top of them, what a waste of a snack/dessert, and $$! I am so sorry.. I hate all but one shelf food. I love the chili, I put that on a big salad add RF cheese,FF sourcream, hot salsa, Put JC Cheese Curls on top. That is my version of a taco salad. It is very filling...try this recipe sometime. I like them, but I fix em up. Take 1 bag of these, crumble up, mix with 1/2 cup of fat free cool whip. Put in fridge for 12-24 hours... the graham crackers soack up the cool whip that it turns into a cake substance. Tastey.

I enjoy mine a lot with my milk, I love the "dipping cookies in milk" feeling lol. They are not my favorite snack but I do choose them often.
terri77
I thought that they were chocolate covered graham crackers as well. I had them once and while they are okay, I haven't bought them again.
jewell15
Wow, I bought these this week and was soooooooooo looking forward to them and now I jsut read all these comments. I hope I like them... blink.gif

I actually really like them, so don't let the boards scare you! lol! You might not like them, but keep an open mind. wink.gif

my consultant told me that they go bad quick!
Sammie-Sam
Just so you guys know, if the graham twists are too hard and have white stuff on them, they are expired! They only taste horrible if they went stale. Check the dates on your food and report to your center director, because someone at the center could be stocking incorrectly.

I had thte same reaction. They looked like they were chocolate covered from the photo on the package. I think i'll just stick with the cheesecake. Atleast that never lets me down. I also HATE the everything crackers that everyone raves about. I don't see the appeal.

Aren't they one of the foods that is going away soon? My bag was really good but all broken up.

I just had these today and I really liked them. I did think they would be chocolate covered but I still liked how they were. They remind me of chocolate teddy grahams that my kids eat! :-)
missimowse
i like these, too, although i did order them thinking they were chocolate-covered. they sorta remind me of the chocolate teddy grahams i used to eat.

I like to chop mine up.. I usually have half a banana and some strawberries and add cool whip and the chopped up pretzels. Adds a little sweet and a little crunch to yummy fruit.
