rolleyes.gif Hi to all 50's out there improving their lives on J.C. I just joined a week ago, so I need all the tips you experienced girls can give(or guys). I lost 3.2 pounds this first week. 22.8 more pounds to go. I went through chemical menopause due to chemo for breast cancer 6 years ago. Then had to take an antiestrogen until recently. Weight has crept on and seemed IMPOSSIBLE to lose. I am pumped to have found J.C. The food I have had so far is very good. I viewed the 50's site before I joined, so you all played a part in convincing me to join! I knew this was the group I wanted to share with. Glad to be here. Any other cancer survivors out there? bhamgirl

Thanks for the support, looster. I actually gained 3/4 pound the second week! I'm doing better with my water and exercise this week though. My scales say 3 pounds less already this week, but I don't weigh in until Thursday. I did not get in all my food last week, and I'm told that can hamper your weight loss. I was really bummed out after the last WI but not giving up. You're right--I have overcome harder things than this stubborn weight. How are things going for you? bham girl smile.gif

Hi there, been so busy at work haven't had the time to go and and chat........3lbs last week was great, how are you doing this week? the water and the excercise will get easier each day/week espceially when you see the lbs going down it will give you more insentive to get up and move and it will continually be easier to do that will the weight lose.
i did well this week, down 3 lbs so that is good, just need to stay on track, only 18lbs to go for my first goal of 50lbs, not sure how much more after that. i don't want to be one of those older women with icky saggy skin and already i see it on my arms, they remind me of my moms arms, crappey (not crappy, lol) looking, but that is how it goes. it is so nice not to have a huge amount of fat on my tummy. believe me i still have a pot but not near as much as i did i feel so much better. it's all worth it.

keep up the good work bham girl!!

Hi everyone

I just completed week 1 and lost 4.4 pounds. I was so happy last night when I saw the number on the scale.. I am 56 and my goal is 30 pounds. As the years advanced so did my weight and getting it off has been near impossible but this has been pretty easy this week. I loved most of the food, and have hardly been hungry. The first few days took adjusting, but now I am liking it. The Anytime bars are not my favorite but I force them down with a giant galss of water because they are high in protein and totally curb the hunger. I have mine mid-afternoon when that hungry growl comes along. Seems to have worked in week 1.

I love all these posts, everyone is such an inspiration.

Have a great week and keep up the good work.

We can do this once and for all.

Hi running gal and congrats on your 1st week.........way to go........i think that JC is such a great program for us in our 50s, seem like when i'm on 100% the weight really falls off and the hunger isn't there too much for me.........i love the at bar, isn't that funny that others like yourself don't care for it, we all have such different tastes, lol

keep up the great work........you are on your "weigh" to success!!

I'm in the over-fifty crowd too and had a really difficult time losing weight until I joined JC. I needed the structure so badly, I think. I love the simplicity of the program---just eat what is on your menu. Just do it, lol.
Drinking lots of water and cutting out sodium made a huge difference. No more bloat. I make a two-quart pitcher of Crystal Light every day and make sure I drink at least that plus other beverages.
Although I like some of the frozen breakfast choices I've started going with the items that are higher in fiber and nutrition. The Complete Start cereal, for example, is one of my favorites.
I make my own giant vat of free veggie soup and freeze it in smaller portions. I don't care for either the flavor or the added expense (or using two of my limited free choices) of the Soupitizers and I don't buy the vitamins or AT bars.
Good luck---hope you enjoy JC as much as I do! smile.gif

Hi All
I too just started last week and go for my first weigh in on Wednesday. After I had a hysterectomy the weight just seemed to go up and up. Need to lose 60lbs and hope for more if I can reach that goal. The JC food has been good so far, only the cheesy enchilada I didn't like so far. My problem is that I am still hungry most of the time. I hope that will change in time. I really need the regimen of knowing what to eat because I never stick to anything else. Will look forward to chatting with people that are my age and going thru the same difficulties that I am am dealing with today. Thank you

Hello to all you fabulous fifties,

I am 56 and have 150 to lose. I joined in January 09 and to date have lost 30 lbs. My goal is to lose a total of 50 by the end of June. I agree, this is the best plan I've been on - and I've been on ALL of them. The food is wonderful, program is easy to do, support everywhere. Where do you all live? I live in Fort Worth, Texas.

About the sagging skin. I was told by a counselor that by losing the weight slow, your skin adapts. It's the people who have lapband or gastric bypass and lose the weight really fast that wind up having to have surgery to tighten their skin. Reason is that they lose so much weight so fast that the skin can't tighen itself.

Everyone keep up the good work and let me hear from you.

Mucho frienship,
Healthystar

I too am a breast cancer forced into menopause patient. I gained a good 20 + pounds while on chemo and joined JC in May of last year. I am having to still take the tamoxifen and Effexor and while I have lost 15 pounds It is a fight, My body and meds are really battling each other. Its been frustrating, but even if I can't lose anymore I feel I am at least eating healthy. Good Luck in your weight lost and congrats on your recovery and survival! biggrin.gif

Hi! I am brand new to Jenny. My first day on Jenny's meals was yesterday and today was my 2nd. I noticed the mid-afternoon hungry growls, so I was psyched to read your solution to fix that problem. Eat the Anytime bars then, and not mid-morning. Mornings, I'm cool. It's that mid-afternoon growl.....
Thanks,
Kathi
