Full Version: Need Advice...I'm confused

Hi everyone,
I have a few questions and I thought I would ask everyone here.

1. I just was reading another post where someone said that they have yogurt instead of the anytime vitamin bar. For breakfast, I am having my entree, a 6 oz fat free yogurt in place of my milk (I don't like milk) and a fruit. For a.m. snack I am eating the anytime bar. (BTW, I took someone's advice and freezing it makes it taste so delish!)

My question is this: Am I supposed to be having an either/or thing...either the yogurt or the anytime bar? I think we get two servings of milk per day, don't we? Or am I not supposed to be eating the bar and eating the yogurt? I thought I was supposed to eat everything on my list. Maybe that is why I'm not losing weight as quickly as I have been hoping to...if in fact I am doing it incorrectly.

2. Is one I posted on another topic but: If there is an entree that I detest (swedish meatballs or sunshine sandwich or a few others), can I switch it for a different entree and if so, does it need to be something that has the same calorie count or lower? If I switch it out, doesn't it change the whole nutrient/fat, carb composition for the day? I have just been forcing these things that I don't like down.

3. Does anyone else ever feel really rushed when they go in for their weekly appointments? We have 15 minutes to review everything including getting weighed, asking questions, reviewing my week, going over the new menu and I always feel so badly when we go over the allotted time that I'm almost afraid to keep asking all of my questions.

Thanks for your advice.

I'll try to clear some things up...

1> You get the milk with breakfast. Then for a snack mid-morning, you can have EITHER the anytime bar OR a yogurt. If you had yogurt with breakfast, that's two yogurts. Your choice. What calorie level you're on determines if you get 2 or 3 milks in the day.

2> If you're on the pre-planned menus, you SHOULD eat them as written. If there's something you don't like, toss out the whole day and pick a different day. The pre-planned menus are very carefully balanced, so if you need to trade something out, try to pick a very similar item nutritionally. However, you can also chose a personalized menu where you pick any items you want, combining them any way you want. The foods in addition to the JC items are slightly different on the personalized menu. They are more general to accomodate for the variances in nutrition of the entrees.

3> Yes, the time slots are fairly rushed. You could ask if you could get an extended appointment at least occasionally to cover your questions. You can also help speed things along by having your menu selections before going in (not a concern if you're doing pre-planned menus).

Hope it helps a little at least. Best of everything to you!

Hi again Laura smile.gif - Here's what I know from my few weeks on the plan:
1) Milk Servings - yes we get two per day. You can either eat the anytime bar or exchange it for a 6 oz yogurt ( I was advised to go for the Greek Style NF Yogurts - they have higher Protein - keep you full longer)
I have trouble with milk too. I usually have a 1/2 c NF milk in my homemade morning Coffee Drink. I found out that you can also exchange a milk product for cheese. Cheese is normally counted as a Protein but they allow for the milk exchange for us difficult ones. 2oz of cheese is one milk serving (keep it light or NF).
2) Eating everything on the list - Yes - except the Soupitizer's are optional. They count as two limited per day and we can have up to 3 limited per day. By the way, Jenny's Dressings are not counted as a limited item.
3) Switching entrees - you should let your JCC know which ones you want to switch out. I just started week 6 so I have been through the entire 1200 calorie planned menu's now (all 4). A few entrees upset my stomach and I end up with some left over entrees when I do meals out. I review the food list for the week with my JCC and let her know which entrees I don't want from the printed list. She then looks over a nutritional tool she has to compare values and lets me know which entrees would make a good replacement. She does the same with my leftover food so I can substitute and use it up.
4) Time with JCC - ya - I think we run over every single time too!! I always have lots of questions. Instead of saving up all my questions for the meeting I have started calling the local Centre with questions and I have also called the 800 # after hours with questions. My advice is to ask away and use all the resources by also calling in mid week or after hours to get your questions answered.

Hope this helps... I just asked you about which Island you come from under the July 08 post... wink.gif Aloha! Cammy

I do the pre-planned menus, and my consultant lets me exchange up to 3 menu items per week (I only change out 2 items per week though). I usually pick something similar in nature, like a veggie item for another veggie item or shelf stable for shelf stable. A few calories difference twice a week wont matter a great deal in the whole scheme of things. And since I'm eating things I like, I'm more likely to enjoy JC and stay on plan.

Hi Ladies,

I was told that the anytime bar and the soupatizers were both optional. That being said we dont have to purchase them if we dotn want the added cost. I have not purchased either of them as of yet and i am on my 2nd week in which i lost 7.6 lbs the first week. For the soupatizer you dont exchange anythinjg you just dont eat it, However for the the anytime bar i was told it is a milk product and i could eat any of the following in exchange for the anytime bar but reccomended i take a multi vitamin daily. In exchange for the anytime bar you can do a 6 oz Low fat/ no fat yogurt 60-120 calories, 1/2 cup FF cottage cheese, 1 cup skim or 1% milk, light string cheese or 1/2 cup shreaded FF cheese. That gives a bigger variety. I usually eat 1/2 cup FF CC with slasa mixed in it and a fruit. Now i am on the 1700 calarie a day so if your on less then that you should check you might only get 1/4 cup off cottage cheese or soemthing like that, call the center and ask them. Good luck and god bless!

Terri
