I'm also a 63 year old grandma in NJ. This is my 4th week. Sometimes I get bored with the routine, but most of the time I am happy to have the structure. I like the food. I've lost 8 lbs. so far; only 50 more to go! LOL! I think our metabolism slows down as we get older. I'm not giving up; don't give up!

PattieL, Thanks for the encouragement. I really want to make this work. Today I walked about 2 miles and thought I would die before I got back home. Still haven't gotten all my energy back since my major surgery in January - but I am determined to give it my best shot. I like most of the food but have a problem with to much red sauce. Causes a real acid problem for me so I guess I will have to adjust my menu this coming Friday. You've done fantastic - Hope I can do as well.
Keep me posted - us YOUNG GRANNIES have to stick together.

Suedoddle, Thanks for the encouragement - I really want to make it work so I will stick with it come rain or shine. This forum is really helpful. There are a lot of fantastic gals out there who are doing it. - I want to be one of those gals. Keep me in the loop.
Thanks and take care of yourself -

Hi, I'm Jane. I have been on this one week. I did everything by the book. I love the food, but I was so dissapointed that I only lost .2 pounds. I am 75, a widow, and live alone with my 2 dogs and a cat. I work part-time (4 hours a day), and am basically happy, healthy, and optimistic. I have 65 pounds I want to lose. I have tried everything, WW, NutriSystem, anything I think will help. But it just won't come off!

But, even tho I am dissapointed, I am not discouraged. My JC counselor said my body may have gone into "starvation" mode because I only ate 1200 calories when I had been eating much more. I hope she is right.

I really like that my food is all written out for me. I was at the point where I did not know what to eat, and was just eating junk. I am looking forward to this being a success.

One problem I see is that I think I will have to exercise (walk) more than I may be able to. I have ankle problems that are under control now, but I don't want to make things worse. I know I need to get on the treadmill. I'm working on it.

Hi Jane,
Hang in there, the body has a mind of its own. I was having trouble for a long time and then had my thyroid tested - guess what - I was badly in need of thyroid meds. They have helped me this time around.
This week I only lost a pound so hopefully it will all even out.

Take care and keep reading all these wonderful messages from so many ladies who are making it happen.
They are very encouraging....
Love the puppers and kitty.

Hi, Jane.

Congrats on caring who you are and how you look and taking the JC plunge. You are exactly the type of person that I rave about for being a Jenny member. You keep a busy life and have animals to love you (I'm a dog lover too). Yet, since you live alone, the more you need to take care of your health. Jenny takes care of your food choices and every age's health! You are now holding the perfect food plan. Losing the weight will come naturally. Cooking for one is hard. As you mention the starvation mode is real - I dealt with that a few years back.... too busy with everyone else's needs and not my own. Jenny is taking care of that for you. I raved that every 'single' person should eat Jenny Craig food.

As far as you only losing .2#s....... my story is quite a bit like that. Slow starting and slow going. I envied those that lost 5 - 8 pounds quickly the first few weeks and they seem to get good results from exercising. I've been on the plan for 21 weeks... and have only lost 20 lbs. So, there are many weeks that this only amounts to .2 #s. I am physically limited for an exercise plan like they suggest. There is no way that I could walk 5 miles a day. Yet, when I do hard-labor in my yardwork or playing my Wii 'Sports', I lose little (not lots). Yet, they say this is better than having BIG weight drops. It does come off and will total up! Just keep going on. You'll see. [Actually, I had other issues (like constipation) when I started Jenny. This too passed and the body system kicks in.] You will win this challenge!

I hope you let us know how it is going for you!
