Hi Connie!

Do you mean the anytime bars? If so, I like the chocolate/peanut butter one. I keep mine in the fridge and eat them cold. I didn't like the cookies and cream bar but it's other people's favorite.

I like most of the foods and love a lot of them. I perfer the frozen items to the shelf stable items. Some of my favorites are the french toast, muffins, turkey burger, stuffed sandwiches, pizzas, mesquite chicken, smores bar, and triple chocolate cheesecake.

You definitely should try everything at least once. I've been on JC for almost 12 weeks now and I'm trying things I disliked originally again now to see if my tastes have changed. Some items I'm liking more now than I did before. So definitely try things and keep trying things.

Good luck!

I was worried about the food initially. I'm a total foodie, never eat at chain restaurants, and LOVE cooking. I've been very pleasantly surprised. The food is quite good. I've like both the shelf-stable and the frozen items. You can doctor them up, and add lots of veggies. The only thing I really dislike is the french toast, but I don't like french toast, anyway. The bars are okay. I like the peanut butter one better than the cookies one, but both are edible, especially with a cup of coffee or tea. I do alternate with yogurt and a multivitamin a few times a week.

I would recommend trying everything at least once and then go from there.

Good luck - so far (1.5 weeks), I'm loving it!

Assuming you mean the Anytime bars -- I have a love/hate relationship with them. I've only tried the Peanut Butter so far (this is my third week.) The first time I had it, I was like ... ew, this is taking forever to chew, and doesn't taste all that peantbuttery. But then I came to rely on it for a sweet-tooth fix. I don't eat it mid-morning -- I save it for after dinner for my late-night snack time. That is when I'm most munchy.

What are your favorite foods?
Breakfast: Breakfast Scramble (SO very good and filling!), French Toast, Silver Dollar Pancakes, Frosted Oats cereal, Blueberry Muffin. Lunch: Beef Chow Mein, Chicken Salad Kit (I'm in the very small minority on that one), Southwest Chicken with Rice and Beans, Creamy Potato Soup (this is excellent!) Dinner: Chicken Fajitas (don't taste 'diet' at all), Beef with Lentils (very filling), Meatloaf w/ BBQ sauce, Mesquite Chicken. Snacks: S'mores bar (YUM), Peanut Butter Bar (not the Anytime bar), Chocolate Carmel Peanut bar, Cookies & Cream Cheesecake, Jenny's Cheese Curls, Bruschetta Veggie Chips. LOTS of very good snack items!

Do you have any foods you dislike? Why?
The Oatmeal breakfast bar was horrid for me. I literally could not stomach more than one bite. I'm not really sure why. I dislike the pizzas (Personal, Pesto), as they are a bit too dry and plain for me. I also don't like the Sunshine Sandwich (breakfast.) It was not for my taste at all.

Any other comments about the foods?
My #1 piece of advice is - DO NOT take anyone else's word on what tastes good and what tastes bad. Everyone's pallets are very different. I was terrified by the time I got to a chicken salad kit because of all the reviews I read on here, but I kept an open mind, and it turns out it's one of my favorite lunch items, now. I took suggestions from here on how to make it better, and the suggestions were GREAT!!

Also - do not be afraid of the shelf-stable (non-frozen) items. So far, every single one I've had has been really good.

TRY EVERYTHING and form your own opinion! smile.gif

Aloha Miss Self Acceptance,

Today was day 1 for me on the shelf stable plan. They can not ship dry ice to Hawaii at this time, so this is my only option for now.

I have liked everything on the menu and have not felt hungry. In fact, I am eating quite a bit more than I normally eat, so I might be one of those starving on my weight.

I had the Choc peanut butter anytime bar in the am and it was tastey, chewey, and not funny fake taste. In fact, I am not tasting any of the strange tasts associated with many diet foods. My body doesn't tolerate those well at all.

I am following the planned menu week 1 and am very impressed day one. I would buy these foods in my grocery store, if available... so nothing diety tasting about them period.

I have noticed a very gurgly stomach this afternoon and quite a bit of gas, though.

I am glad that the plan sends out so many different choices... I am likely to find some I prefer over others, but so far, I could eat what I ate today and be a very happy camper.

I added broccoli to my chicken parmasean dinner and had watermelon as my afternoon fruit. I enjoyed the tuna kit, but I like tuna and chicken salad a lot anyway and serve that often. This was very tasty. The fruit cup was wonderful too.

I don't like breakfast, so that was my hardest meal to eat... not hungry but want to follow the plan. It was a great oatmeal breakfast bar... more like a sweet than a breakfast.

I am more than impressed by this food on day 1. I also spent a great deal of the day reading the program information and I am really excited to read so much good information. My fitness trainer is certifed by the Cooper Clinic and I am seeing much of the same teachings being reinforced with the food.

So far, this is by far the best empowerment I have felt toward regaining a healthier weight. I am very happy.

Since I am not a picky eater, I expect I will do great on this plan... lots of choices and freedom to swap out. My goal for this week is to eat the menu choices as posted - probably through the 4 weeks, so I am sure I tasted each item. Then I will know what to reorder.

Let's get healthy together.

Hugs, Love, and Aloha,

Connie

I started with Jenny Craig August 19th. I really like everything I have eaten so far (day 5), but I can hardly stomach the cookies & cream anytime bars. I called to see if I have to eat them and was told I do for the nutrients, vitamins, fiber, etc. I can't stand anything made with peanut butter so that's out for me. I have noticed that instead of eating the anytime bar in the morning, if I eat it with lunch I can stomach it much better. I was drinking two small bottles of water with each bar to get it down, but now I guess I am getting used to it.

I was surprised that I didn't like the chicken rosemary soup and I only ate the items in the soup, not the broth. I like the tomato flourentine.

I haven't eaten sweetened cereal in years so the frosted flakes? was pretty sweet for me.

Don't think I am someone who doesn't need to lose a lot of weight - I do. There are just some things I have eliminated from my diet. There are lots of things I have not!

I am really excited about this program because the food is quick and easy and I hope and pray that I will not get bored with so many options since I will be on this for a long time.

I am in my "honeymoon stage" so to speak and I haven't had any struggles so far.

I really appreciate any advise or suggestions people might have.

Hugs

Do you like the food bars? - i wouldn't pick them off the shelf for a snack normally...but I alternate them with a yogurt/vitamin because i get tired of yogurt. eat them cold...they are better that way

What are your favorite foods? too many

i could live off the chicken fajitas. i plan my own menus and try to make sure i have an extra meat and fat to carry over to dinner so i can add some cheese and fat free sour cream. i also add extra peppers and onions and it's the best.

i love the fettuccini alfredo when you add the broccoli and mushrooms and parmesan cheese from the chicken divan recipe on the back of one of the weekly menus.

the macaroni and cheese and the meatloaf are excellent.

I keep frozen stir fry veggies and cans of water chestnuts and throw some into a pan and stir fry while i microwave the cashew chicken, beef chow mein or the potstickers and then once those are done throw them in the pan and add a little low sodium soy sauce and it's very good and VERY filling w/ all the veggies.

the turkey with gravy and the penne pasta were items i had doubts about but love them.

for lunch the enchilada is probably my favorite, but i really like the stuffed potato with a big pile of steamed yellow squash and zucchini. save a fat and add sour cream. i eat the turkey burger weekly with spicy mustard and the chicken burrito w/ a saved fat to add sour cream (while frozen, run it under water then microwave so the tortilla doesn't get hard)

the stuffed sandwiches are great...meatball is best especially when I keep a bit of homemade sauce set aside before adding meat for my family's lasagna or spaghetti...and then have that over the meatball sandwich...add parmesan if you have the extra fat for the day.

breakfast, i like the breakfast scramble with the volumizer suggestion of adding sauted zucchini and tomato. i love the blueberry muffin, sunshine sandwich and french toast w/ extra frozen berries rather than syrup.

the walnut brownie ranks up there as good as the chicken fajita in my book

Do you have any foods you dislike? Why?

swedish meatball did not appeal to me but that is the only thing i can say i actually threw out. i like 85% of the stuff....LOVE 10% and do not care for about 5%

but once i started adding to the food, i loved it even more. these message boards have excellent ideas for changing up the food.

LOVE

BREAKFAST SCRAMBLE, FRENCH TOAST, OATMEAL BARS, BEEF CHOW MEIN, TURKEY BURGERS, MAC AND CHEESE, CHICKEN CARBONARA, CHICKEN FETTICINI, MEATLOAF, MESQUITE CHICKEN,PIZZA, FAJITAS, ANYTIME BARS, ALL THE DESSERTS AND SNACKS

HATE
SWEDISH MEATBALLS, SOUPS

LauraMc
I literally had to force myself to eat the Swedish Meatballs (and I love Swedish Meatballs normally). I ended up mixing in a cup of fresh spinach and a tablespoon of hot sauce to try to make it more palatable but it wasn't a winner for me.

Most of the food I really like. I think I could eat the Maple oatmeal, turkey burgers, fajitas, cheese enchiladas, fettucine and lasagna every day and be happy as a clam. I actually tried the cookies and cream anytime bars after hearing everyone say they were terrible, but I really liked them.

I was never a big fruit eater so I have been making smoothies with my yogurt and love it. I look forward to it after I do my 4 mile walk now. If you don't have one of those Magic Bullet's, (you can get it just about every where now) , you should invest in one, they are the best thing since sliced bread!

I put half a container of crushed ice, filled with green tea up to the top of the ice, 1 oz of blueberries, 2 oz strawberries and fat free yogurt. Mix it all up for three pulses/three seconds each, unscrew the lid and enjoy!

One question I do have is this: If I want to swap out one of the meals (i.e. the swedish meatballs or one of the other shelf stable foods) for a different food, do I have to try to pick something that has the same calorie content or lower? Will switching out one meal upset the whole balance of the nutrients for the day? I haven't done this yet, have just stuck to the prepared plan, but there are certain things I am finding that I just don't eat and toss it and then find myself wanting to binge on something I shouldn't. Thanks for the info.

I like the Peanut butter anytime bars much better than the cookies & creme!

LOVE the potstickers! Cheesey enchilada, turkey w/ gravy and rising pizza are also faves.

Sunrise sandwich is good and very filling

S'mores bar - YUM!!!
