I'm in the Pittsburgh area and just started the program last week. Since I hit my 40s, and quit smoking, I have been struggling with keeping my weight in check for the past few years. I just couldn't seem to do it on my own so I decided to give Jenny Craig a try -so far I have lost 4 lbs the first week! It seems that my biggest issue has been portion control. I hope once I get used to eating smaller amounts of specific types of food I will be able to maintain my weight once I hit my goal.

Hi!

I'm also from the Pittsburgh area and I started about 3 weeks ago. I've lost 7+ lbs, most of it in the first week. I've done JC before - aout 10 years ago - but getting back into the swing of it wasn't as easy as I expected. My stomach gurgled for the first 3 weeks but that seems to have gone away now. I'm 53 and each decade gets a little more difficult to lose/keep off the weight. I've also joined the Y but have yet to get into a routine with exercise. I know that's the key.

Where are you located? I'm west of the city and work downtown. Hope to hear from you and we can compare notes and support each other.

I am located in Plum, PA (near Monroeville) and work from home - A few years ago I worked in Greentree and spent many hours in traffic trying to get through the tunnels! I totally don't miss that!

I'm on my 2nd week with Jenny now and have been a member of the Y for a while but just couldn't seem to make it work on my own - I understand it is important to mix up the exercise routine a lot so your body doesn't get too comfortable with the routine and stop the weight loss. I am trying to exercise for 30 minutes at least 3-5X per week but I swear over the weekend I actually gained weight - I know, muscle weighs more than fat but that's not what I want to hear when I am trying to loose weight! I'm following the menu and I am back to my 4 lb loss on Friday (it's Tuesday) so I am hoping for at least a 1 lb loss by my next weigh in on this coming Friday.

I'm 43 and I figure I should get my eating habits under control now so maybe it won't be so tough when I hit my 50s! I'll take any advise you can give me!

Hi I am from the Pittsburgh area and I am turning 50 in october and I have not been able to loose this extra 40 or 50 lbs on my own trying for over 12 years, I vowed I am not goin to turn 51 fat. I joined aug 8 and so far lost 7 lbs even lost while on vacation in my second week. I love my counselor and I really starting to feel like I can do this now, I am working on not trying to be so hard on myself and get over the quilt trip just trying to be healty and calm and know that this is truly possible are the steps that I am working on now. I exercise at the gym and at home I have a nordic trac and this has never been a problem I love exercise. I hurt my back in july and had not been to the gym or work out so it is like I am starting over, so my endurance is low and I am sore but I am taking it day by day

an onther important step is that my husband has finally seen the light, we had a long talk and he finally understands that is not a matter of will power or his quilt that will help me it is his support of my program and
his loving attention to my when I am down that will help me the most, I never used to ask him for hugs when I had a bad day at work or was under stress it seem so little girl and besides he has his own stress this has helped me imensely.

So here I go 6 lbs to my first goal where I was this time last year now I think I can have the stamina to go lower.
