Full Version: Girls Weekend
Jenny Craig > Food and Dining Out > Dining Out
Laurajj
I am going away with the girls for 2 nights. No one knows I am on Jenny yet. We are going to the Georgia mountains to a lodge, food and drinking will be a big part of this weekend. Need suggestions for BLD !
WorknIt
Well, you could buy Jenny foods to take with you- a breakfast for each day: cereal, Oatmeal Bar, muffin.
Choose 2-3 shelf-stable lunches and dinners, snacks and desserts too. And salad dressings- Jenny or whatever you are currently using. And your AT Bars!!
Hit the grocery when you arriveor before you leave the last "city" to the mountain- Either in a cooler or refrigerator: salad fixin's fresh fruits, FF yogurts, milk. And A case of bottled water!
If as a group you are all shopping together anyways- stand your ground and buy the things you know you and Everyone can enjoy- guiltfree! Cooking altogether? Chicken grilled and lots of fresh veggies roasted on the grill or oven are good options. Big huge "group" salads that you know you can enjoy too!
Keep in mind what Jenny shows as correct portions.

If these are really close friends- why not let them in on your decision to become healthier? I bet they will be excited for you, curious and supportive! Maybe you will inspire THEM to make a decision for themselves to be healthier too! I do understand, though, it was like that when I first started JC. I did not want the "analysis" of everyone looking at what I was eating every time I ate! What is funny is- I eat more now than I ever did before. OK, so it is healthier foods, fruits, veggies- and I eat about every 3 hours. So, it DOES seem like allot of eating! I imagine your friends will be surprised at that little fact. Enjoy and keep YOUR goals in mind all along. Have fun in the mountains!!! Take your pedometer or buy an inexpensive one before you go!

wink.gif I have found myself in similar situations since I have joined JC. I just got back from a big camping trip with families that consist of lots of eating and socializing and I am getting ready for a girl get away this weekend.

This is what I have done and it has worked for me. First of all- I have shared with my friends about my journey with JC. It's the only way I will feel successful on it. I have tried to hide other "diets" in the past and failed. I feel like I have a team of supporters now. They understand- even the really skinny friends who never worry about their weight. EVERYONE has a vice that they need support on.

I bring along some of my JC foods. I bring a breakfast, some anytime bars and fruit. When appropriate I will bring a lunch/dinner. Tuna salad is easy to take to the beach, etc... This past weekend I switch dinners and lunches around so that I could throw my turkey burger or chicken sandwich on the grill when all the other grilling was going on. Sometimes it's inevitable that there will be some dining out when you're going for a girls weekend. That's ok. Remember this is a lifesyle change and not some crash diet. Order fish or chicken breast (grilled or broiled) sub potatoes with extra veggies, stash a JC dressing in your purse for a salad. You will be able to enjoy a evening at a restaurant with friends.

As far as the drinking. I have had a few drinks. I know it's not recommended, but I decided I can't do "an all or nothing" approach or I will not stick with the program. I choose a glass or wine or light beer. They have a fewer calories than a mixed drink! As much as I love margaritas, I felt so in control this weekend when the blender came out. Also- with every alcoholic beverage I had, I drank a water.

Try including more movement in your weekend too. Encourage a girlfriend or two to join you in a long walk. You still get your chat time in and burn calories. Double bonus!

My summer has been filled with these types of things that come up. We've had to be out of town a few times and I have entertained out of town guests 2 times. It's awkward to be cooking for them and throwing a JC meal into the microwave ,so this is what has worked for me. I have been losing 1-2 pounds a week. Not super fast weight loss but I have come to the terms that I'm in this for the long haul as a life style change.

Have a FABULOUS weekend with your friends!!!!
