BUY BEANO.. It works! I have a lot less gas now!

Another vote for beano. I've noticed the gassy issue after the AT bar and the lunch salad. At dinner time I usually have steamed cabbage, broccoli or cauliflower. My family started avoiding me till I found beano!!!
I think its the veggies as on the weekends, I don't load up on the salad and veggies and don't notice the gassy issue.

Especially the meals with beans.....................I have to use GAS-X and that helps. It is embarrassing if you are sitting in a class or at a meeting and you just want to bust! They must had fillers or something that swells in your stomach as sometimes I can't finish a meal, I feel stuffed. All those salads do it also, lots of fiber.

I just say its Jenny talking. She has a lot to say some days.

Jenny Talking...Pfffffffffffffffft! That is SO funny!
Some, not all the foods do that to me. (Like today's lunch) The Southwest chicken & beans...ay! Caramba! Mucho stinko.
I think it's the fiber. Beans are loaded with fiber.
Thanks- I needed a good laugh to go along with my "one-man band" today!

I also stay away from anything from the JC menu with beans in it. Sort of like throwing gas on a fire.

It is good ammo for the hubby that is how I keep him off me sometimes, I say ooh babe I got the gas." It works he stays clear of me! lol
But is is embarrasing at times. When I was at school and a teacher came in I had just let one rip and it was not right!! I am sure that is why she asked her question and ran out!

I haven't experienced a lot of gas with the program myself and I am not a dietician, but it may be the fresh fruits and vegetables you are eating. For example, Are you eating cucumbers with your salads? They will give you gas. You might check with your Jenny Craig consultant. Good luck with the program!

Based on this thread, I think it may be the Anytime Bars also. I have not had one since Saturday and no problems with gas. Definately not from increased veges because I if anything I have reduced the amount o veges. I always ate well in that area (too much bread and other snacks.....).
I am on the meatless regime here and sadly most of the dishes are pasta and cheese (why do the meat eaters also get the beans too? I don't understand that one) so I thought it was from those dishes but convinced it is those bars now. I did not like them much anyway but good to have one tucked away when you are caught out for several hours and get hungry....

Fiber gives you GAS and JC products are filled with fiber! FIBER is so good for your body! Drink more water...drink more water and you'll find the gas will go away. I have more gas on the days I don't drink water with my meals than when I guzzel it all day long.
HEALTHY PEOPLE have more GAS (unfortunate for the embarassment!)

But SOOO true! I started TWO DAYS AGO...my poor fiancee can't be in the same room with me. My cat has even boycotted. THey were begging for mercy last night. This morning on the way to work he kept making bomb sounds...that was YOU last night!!! He sang at me. I have to admit I was laughing so hard I could hardly tell him that I can't help it. I tell him its "skinny-people smell". I feel terrible about it (for him) - but I feel so good (otherwise). I said he needs to join too so he can get me back! I have been reading this and dying laughin' out loud. They say laughter is a good stress reliever, and this is just what the Dr. ordered. I think it's the fiber, which, veggies are filled with tons of fiber, as well as the anytime bars. The veggies fill your tummy up and make you feel bloated, but they also help with the other aspect, you know- GOING. So, this is the price we have to pay ladies, to change our lives! I agree, the beano helps out. But, boy, even the Bean-O tastes icky~!

I guess it's like the "best/worst tasting JC food thread"- everyone is SO different, and what causes gassy bombs too!
Well, I figure by DBF really, really, really loves me to put up with me, my "special JC foods"- AND- these gas attacks that cannot be helped, and certainly NOT hold back.

Another thought- this brings an entirely NEW meaning to "the price of gas these days", huh?!

I WISH I had gas--it would be a relief to the painful stomach cramps--I am pretty sure it is the Anytime bars. If not that then the soy protien. Never thought about the chemical additives--most everything form any source has those--except freshly made things you make yourself so what are you going to do?

OMG, this thread is too funny! I am busting a gut reading all the replies!!! I have the same problem, and ya know, I thought it was ALL the food, but I usually save my AT bar for late at night around 9:45 when I'm at work (that is a break time for me), and on my way home around 11:30 in the car - WHOA, thank goodness I don't carpool!!! I can let 'em rip to my heart's content. My husband - poor thing - he can't stand it!! I think even the dogs get up and leave my side. I also am a diet coke fiend, and drink a lot of it at work, and am sure this doesn't help. Oh well, the price we pay. I will try adding more water, less coke.
Thanks for the laugh, I think I burned a few calories!!!

I have been on the program for about 7 weeks. At first the gas was a real problem. I am a Realtor and I would have to "get lost in the garage" while showing houses. It was terrible. Now, I do not have any issues with gas. Thank heavens, it was getting hot in the garage.

Love this thread because I'm suffering from the same affliction and Beano and GasX hasn't helped at all. I know it's not the AT bars because I don't eat them. It must be either the fiber or the additives. I have IBS so I cut down on my veggies because it's so painful on top of the gas produced from the J.C. food. I keep room spray and hand lotion in my cube at work at all times!!! Oh, and don't even get me started on Yoga class and how embarrassing that is!

Hi, Redy2looz, and others. Sorry to "hear" that you are having too many toots....
I posted this just yesterday on another thread, but related to the same issue. If Beano and Gax-X aren't helping, I strongly suggest you start taking
digestive enzymes with your meals. Any health food store sells these, as well as many groceries. Not sure where you live, but if there's a Whole Foods store near you, please try their "
Wholezymes". It's a combination of many enzymes and digestive aids for dealing with the cellulose in veggies, lactose in dairy, and many, many more. But any bottled enzyme product will be very helpful to you.
Diet and age affect what enzymes our bodies produce. Think of it like a "key and lock" matching system... if you don't have the "key" (enzyme) that opens the "lock" (food) to help digest it, the "lock" just rumbles around in your gut until it passes. Your gut isn't designed to handle undigested/unprocessed food, so it hurts when that happens.
Also, make sure you chew your food until it's completely liquid. Digestion begins in the mouth with the enzymes in your saliva. If you eat too quickly and don't chew enough, your stomach and small intestine are receiving food that's not ready and it just causes a lot of pain and gas.
I have also found taking fiber capsules mandatory for keeping things moving along. "
Colon Care" by Yerba Prima is a blend of different types of fiber (insoluble and soluble) from different sources, and also contains probitotics (for gut health and immune system) and minerals (calcium, magnesium, potassium to support peristalsis/reflex). Read the label before you buy to see if it's right for you.
Make sure you drink all of your water, but not too much while you are eating a meal. The water, or other beverages, only dilute your digestive juices, making digestion all that more difficult.
Hope there's some suggestion here that helps you.

I have been on JC for 3 weeks and all was fine over that time, but the last few days I have had such pain. in my stomach that I think is gas pain but just not releaving itself. Not sure if my body is trying to regulate itself or what, but this all day stomach pain is driving me crazy. I do eat the anytime bars but found this happened on a day I did not eat it, so not sure what to make of that. Anyone else have this?

OMG, I am so glad I am not the only one. I have been on the program 3 years ago and I don't remember having gas like this. But I have it soooo bad now. My husband just laughs at me. I asked my consultant about this issue and she told me it is because of the high fiber diet. So now, I DO NOT LIKE FIBER. But I like my weight loss, so I am sticking with it. Haven't tried Bean-O, I need to make a run to the store now.

LOL!!! My hubby and I are both on JC so you can imagine what our lives are like!!! We get to laughing so hard which just causes us to toot some more. Instead of our usual spoon way of sleeping we now have to sleep facing each other!!! Any diet that includes lots of fiber and fresh fruits and veggies is going to cause gas so we don't really think it's the JC food itself that's causing it. My hubby used to take a bodybuilding supplement that was the absolute worst...JC is nothing compared to that!!

All joking aside, I was very grateful to find this thread!! I have been having such pains that I feared it was a heart attack, at one point. I don't eat the Anytime bars (haven't even tried them yet, I am just starting my 3rd week) and I haven't really been eating more veggies then usual, so I honestly believe it's something about the food itself. In any case, I am glad to know that it probably is indeed gas from the diet, and I will most definitely try the Beano!!
Thanks!

Gas, from both ends, can also be a sign of gallbladder issues. Keep that in mind and don't forget to mention it to your doctor on your next visit.
For those of us who have eaten a fatty diet for a long time (the typical American) it is a pretty good chance there are some stones already hidden away in our gallbladder. The perverse truth is that weight loss can sometime reveal gallbladder problems in people who did not realize they had them all along.
That is what has happened to me. I learned I have a big old stone in my gallbladder a few years ago when I was having a test done on my kidneys. It has never really bothered me until just lately when I have finally succeeded in loosing the magic number of over 10% of my original weight. I'm working at getting it out as a scheduled procedure instead of as an emergency. It is more than a little annoying but I am not letting it change my determination to get all this weight off.

I had the same problem. It's the anytime bars- I don't get nearly the gas when I steer clear of those. It's also all the fillers and crap in the JC meals. So many chemicals- I'm weaning myself off them. Add the beans and the raw veggies and our poor digestive system is so confused and working harder than it wants to.
Blanching the veggies, especially broccoli, will help with the enzymes that cause the gas.
Steer clear from the artificial sweetners too. Studies have shown that the chemicals in those (aspratme, splenda) make us gassy too. Aspratme is finally documented as a cause of certain types of cancer as well so I'd stay away from all the "fake" foods out there.
Real food, real weight loss, real success.
