Full Version: Mother's Day

We're coming up on another "feasting" day, and, once again, I'm wondering how others are handling this. At my age, there isn't much I seem to be able to do to celebrate than go out to eat somewhere. I'm looking for ideas for non-food celebrations.

A garden club in Austin, TX used to have an annual Mother's Day garden tour. That was such an enjoyable event. Various members allowed visitors into their backyards to see their gardens. Guests paid a small fee and were given a map to drive from home to home over the two-day weekend. Some stops offered water, lemonade and cookies, but the emphasis was not on food. Not only were the gardens wonderful, but I got to see a lot more of the city than I would have visited otherwise.

I recently attended a pre-graduation event that had--of course--food. I thought I'd be able to ignore it entirely, but couldn't. It's hard to attend these affairs and not have something when everyone else does.

So, I'm hoping someone on the list has some ideas for getting through the upcoming holidays, graduation parties and weddings.

How do you stay focused on a special event? Order veggies with the spinach dip. Ask for any dresssing on the side. Or, take a Jenny Dressing with you. I take Jenny Tuna Kit with me. and the tuna always goes so well on the salad. Stay strong regards, Chai Tea
