Is anyone else at a 1200 daily caleries count? I am and have been for 3-weeks and have seen no results. I have asked my JCC if I could lower my daily calorie count and she said I am at the lowest allowed. Is this true.
Additionally, I thought I had read someones post about a pill they were taking. Can anyone elaboratel, I am afraid I am missing a component of the program.

Everytthing that I have ever read or heard, in sources other than JC, you should not go below 1200 calories. Your body needs this many calories just to function and if you go below this many calories, you will actually not lose because your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism will slow down not speed up.

My JCC just called the dietitian for me as I had not been losing at 1200, I exercise quite a bit, and due to my activity level, they felt that I was not getting enough calories and probably had been in this "starvation" mode. I am back up to 1500 calories and have lost for the last three weeks.

A lot is going to depend on your activity level, how much you have to lose, etc. If you are not eating everything on your menu, that could be why you are not losing. Cutting out foods does not work - I know - I was trying everything while my body was shut down. None of it worked. It's counter-intuitive to increase calories while losing weight, but it worked for me.

You may want to discuss this with your JCC further and have them call corporate for some advice.

Good luck! smile.gif

Jenny Craig does offer a multivitamin as well as an antioxidant formula. Those might be the pills you are talking about, but unfortunately there is no magic weight loss pill.

You should be able to lose weight on 1200 calories. Are you using the preplanned menus or making your own. If you make your own, you may want to try switching to the JC preplanned ones. Make sure you eat all the foods listed, and eat something every couple of hours throughout the day. Eat 3 meals and 3 snacks, just like they are planned instead of trying to combine everything into one or two large meals.

Ensure you drink lots of water and don't add salt to your food since you may be retaining water. Get some exercise in each day to help you burn calories. If you haven't been exercising regularly, try going for a 30 minute walk each day to start. And you may want to ask your consultant to talk to the Centre Director or to contact the dietitian at JC to see if they have some advice for you.
