First of all, hello to all of you who are BF! It’s almost a full time job on it's own. I am a new mom, breastfeeding my 10-week-old baby girl.

A little about me: I recently joined JC, had my first consultation last Thursday, and started the program last Friday (04/04/08), 2300 calorie level. Even though I started my pregnancy at a normal weight, and gained very little in the beginning, I gained a lot of weight at the end because I was placed on bed rest for 6 weeks. So now, I have quite a bit of weight to lose.

My question: I know that the healthy way to lose weight is to lose around 1-2 lbs a week. But since I started (5 days ago) I’ve lost 6.5 lbs, and probably by tomorrow this number will be even higher. So I was wondering how your first couple of weeks were in terms of weight loss?

WOW...you go girl! I just started yesterday, but feel as if I have lost a person already (well not really)!!! I'm very hungry, so I guess that means I was eating way too much before. I know my portion control was out of control. Anyways, I have a 9month old and was on bed rest for 3 months...so I know all about extra weight. I joined JC because working out wasn't doing it alone and I needed the extra boost of just having my meals ready for me to drop the last 20lbs.
It has been my experience that I can lose a lot the first week, especially if you have little to lose. But the longer I do a program...the harder it gets. Congratulations on your first week...hope I have a weight loss like that. Keep me posted:)

Its my experience working in the weight loss industry that the first week you typically lose more - and the more you have to lose the more you lose this first week.

Also the first week we're typically losing water weight, with less salt from processed foods and more water. As you go on you may drop to a 1-3 lb loss each week, but its fat you're losing. I've lost almost ten lbs so far and on I'm just starting my third week. I'd suggest not weighing yourself until the last day of your week otherwise its inaccurate. We can go up or down but if we weigh in the same time/day each week its a lot more accurate - and less nerve wracking!

Good luck - you're doing great!
