I joined JC 10 days ago, am eating exactly as directed, nothing different except 1t sugar and Coffee mate with 2 cups of coffee each day, then switched to stevie natural non-fat sugar and non-fat coffee creamer. At my first weigh-in I gained 1.6 pounds. This morning, 2 days later, I've added another 1/2 pound. I haven't heard of anyone I know going on one of these programs and gaining weight if they've kept to the guidelines. I'm 63 and my goal loss is 25 pounds. Any suggestions?

Hi Barbara,
Welcome to the message boards! have you tried the liquid nonfat half and half? Ralph's has it, and so does Trader Joe's...Are you drinking lots of water? It really helps. Are you eating lots of veggies?

Once in awhile I'll have a small weight gain, and water and veggies is what is suggested to me. Try not to panic, it's got to be some odd thing your metabolism is doing to you...try to wait it out, okay? I find this to be the best diet overall for me to lose weight...

By the way, San Diego is my home town!

Hi Barbara - Welcome!!!

The sugar and creamer definitely aren't the greatest choices. You can use the Splenda or other artificial sweeteners which have no calories. I used to have the flavored creamers all the time and will still treat myself to 1 cup with the creamer very ocassionaly, but I found out I cannot use it very often - even the low-fal creamers. It really messes everything up for me. If you like the flavored creamers, I found DaVince flavored syrups - right in the coffee section where I shop - which have 0 calories and fat. Not quite as good as the creamers that I love but it gives me the flavor and sweetness I like. Also, splenda makes some flavored artificial sweeteners.

Also, as Arlonne suggested, make sure you dring plenty of water. I have a problem with this myself - I'd rather sip on coffee all day but have to limit myself to 2 cups.

Everyone's system is different and hopefully your body will get used to the change and start letting go soon! This program does work so please hang in there and give your body a chance to get used to this program. Best Wishes!!

Hi Ladies,

I just got home from visiting my daughter for Easter and got your messages - thank you! I do have the non-fat half and half, and bought some Stevie not-fat sweeteners. I'll look for the non-fat/no calorie favor bottles. I know I've seen them in Albertson's. I'm trying to drink more water too. I love vegetables, so that's not a probelm.

I go for my second weigh-in this afternoon, so we'll see how it goes. Since I was gone for 5 days I wasn't able to stay completely on JC, but did pretty well. I THINK I might have lost a little. Hope so... I'm going to stick with it.

Barbara
PS - YES! I had a total weight loss of almost two pounds from my starting weight! Now I'm energized! Thanks for your support... B

Barbara: I am one of the Jenny Craig Success Stories. I started Jenny on January 7 (?), 2004 weighing 283 pounds. Within one year, I weighed 167! To be true, I didn't work at the time, and I exercised 45 minutes a day. I would love to say I kept it all off, but that would not be true. About a year and a half after I went back to work (August, 2006), I started a new job which was more in keeping with my training and background. Being happier, I went out for lunches, they had lots of food at the office, the holidays came, and before I knew it, I was up over 200 again! It was not Jenny Craig's fault. It was mine for not keeping my eye on the ball.

I am down to 193 now, on my way back to 165. Four years later, and I am still down 90 pounds. The point is, the program works if you work it. I am not buying the Jenny cuisine since what I DID learn in the year I took to lose the weight on Jenny was how to portion my meals. This was especially helpful when I got to my half way point and started cooking for myself. You just need to stick with the program. And, I mean STICK TO IT. I didn't deviate one iota the whole time I ws losing, and I had great success.

Keep up the good work! I am glad to see you had success after all.
