Hi there Jan Can - welcome to the best program ever!!

I can relate with you regarding the time change and the snow. We haven't had any large snowfalls lately but keep getting an inch or two here and there!! We had 4 below again this morning and I'm really getting tired of winter!! I am impatiently waiting to be able to do some things outdoors!!

I have been doing Jenny for just about 6 months now and have lost 50# At my age I really didn't think this would happen. I tried so many weight loss programs in the past and would lose some weight only to put it back on plus and few extra pounds. This is the first time I have ever been able to accomplish anything like this and I am still loving the food!! I still have roughly 60# more I want to lose and for the first time in my life I feel like I will be able to do it. I know it will take awhile and that is fine cause when I get it off I want to keep it off. I definitely feel much better than I did a year ago and have more energy. My hip and knees still bother me but not near a bad as they used to!!

Be sure to check in and let us know how you are doing. These boards are awesome so if and when you have questions or are struggling be sure to check them out for the help and support you may need.

I suggest you talk over with your JC consultant how you might get started moving. You also might want to consult with your doctor to make sure that you don't hurt yourself. I have lost 85 pounds in the past 11 months and recently passed the halfway point to reaching my goal. Naturally a sedentary soul, it took me a long time to be converted to the view that for me, anyway, there will be no sustained, long-term weight loss and, I suspect, maintenance without physical activity. After my knee replacement surgery in February (I'm still going to outpatient physical therapy), I look forward to spending 30 minutes a day on my stationary bike. I also use walking DVD's as well as Qi Gong (cousin/precursor to Tai Chi) DVD's. Expense is an issue for me, but I've been able to get a good amount of exercise in my apartment. Hope this helps.
All the best,

Hi Jan can,
I agree with Mary and Kathy,
They both gave you some good ideas! One thing I did to help me at home was purchase one of those balance balls that JC has...it really is fun, and I feel very secure on it. (When I was recovering from my knee surgery, my therapist used one with me.) Honestly, even just sitting on it and bouncing up and down will help you! And I do noticce my balance is improving...
Hi Mary,
You are doing so well! Congratulations! I looked at your profile page, and saw your "wonder" about the weight of your new knee...I have a new knee also, and it weighs 2 1/2 pounds, according to my doc. I had mine done almost 5 years ago...and am so glad I did!

Why don't you both join us on the April...encourage each other postings? We would just love to have you join us! Betty Jo and Kathy both live in the midwest region; I'm out in California.... smile.gif
