Jenny Craig > Heart and Soul > Hang In There!

I started Jenny in Dec. It was pretty slow going but by Feb 19 I lost 12 lbs. Well, on the 20th of Feb, and the 27th, I had surgery which prevented me from doing anything but sitting in bed. I was not and will not be able to exercise at all until the beginning of April. Needless to say, during recovery, everyone brought me all the bad things - brownies, cookies, cakes, you name it. And of course I gave in and gave up my Jenny for the most part for those two weeks. Got on the scale yesterday and gained 6.5 lbs back!!!!!! As of today, I vowed to get back on track 100%. I know how good just those 12 lbs felt and I need to get that motivation back but it's hard when I can't even exercise. I need some inspiration!!!

I know exactly how you feel. I had to go in on December 22nd and have emergency gallbladder surgery. Can you imagine- surgery and Christmas all while trying to be loyal to JC. You have to do like you said, "remember how good that 12 lbs felt." I just kept thinking in my mind as soon as I could begin exercising I was gonna run home and do it, because i felt so good with how my body was looking. Just stay positive and keep telling yourself that getting thinner and healthier feels 100% better than any cookies or brownies!!

P.S. If you have those snacks left over still try and send them to work with the spouse or other family members, that is what I did to get them out of the house! OUT-A-SIGHT, OUT-A-MIND!!!

hang in there. Just remember to watch your food intake. Even if you remain even pounds wise that is a win. Just think a year ago you might not even posted here and just used surgery as an excuse to eat. Way to go!!!!! Feel better smile.gif

Nan - sorry you're laid up! I hope you're feeling better soon. Some great ideas and advice here from the posters. It's hard when people are bringing you "goodies"! Something that might help food wise - if you aren't already, put your jc food on pretty plates... make a production of it. Like your spoiling yourself rotten in some fancy restaurant... after all, every day you're on your JC food, you ARE spoiling yourself rotten, because your getting closer to your goal! Treat every meal like your the queen of England...make it special. Make it "pretty". Pretend your in a spa, and this is your retreat, and keep thinking to yourself how good it's going to feel when you get where you want - and how good those 12 pounds felt to get off! Don't worry about the activity right now - you need to heal. And as you feel better/stronger, if you can go for a gentle walk, it all counts. I've had bad back problems, was paralyzed from the waist down, and now walking again. My counselor doesn't want me doing any activity - just focus on getting on the foods - for the next couple weeks. That's hard, only because I feel like I'm doing something wrong. However, it's been 4 days, and already 4 pounds off!!! The more you stress your body, the more it's going to want to hold on to water, because you're trying to heal. So focus on eating healthy - and consider that your "excersize"! And to give you a little cheer up, here's some great excersize advice I recieved from a "helpful" friend.. lol.....

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface,
where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend
your arms straight out from your sides and hold
them there as long as you can. Try to reach a
full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find
that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato
sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then
eventually try to get to where you can lift a
100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your
arms straight for more than a full minute.
After you feel confident at that level, put a
potato in each of the sacks.

Laugh alot - laughing helps you heal faster!!!!!! You can do this!!!!!
