I love carrots, I had raw carrots for lunch today and then cooked carrots for dinner. I read on another post that it is not a good idea to have carrots more then once a week or it slows down weight loss. Can anyone shed some light on this for me if possible? Thanks

I eat carrots everynight. They are my favorite. I haven't had a problem with carrots slowing down weightloss. With my carrots I usually eat califlower or broccoli.

This is quoted from a website called health 24. "Carrots have an extremely high beta-carotene content and have many health benefits, including giving protection against coronary heart disease and several cancers, notably lung cancer. Carrots can also lower blood cholesterol and help guard against food poisoning. Carrots are low in calories and can therefore be eaten freely. Even just one carrot a day will increase the beta-carotene levels in the body."

Carrots 1/2 cup = 35 calories

I also looked up the glycemic level on carrots and they are listed as high. It does say a small amount of carrots eaten with other foods will not significantly elevate insulin levels.

Have a good week.

A lot of low carb web sites say not to eat carrots, just because they have a lot of sugar compared to other vegetables. Since JC is not a low carb diet and carrots are very low in calories it should be fine to eat them every day.

I was on WW a few times. I remember the first time there was no limits on carrots and one or two other veggies. I remember people asking the leader about it and she said the problem was that carrots do have a little more sugar and that people were eating bags a day and it ended up slowing their weight loss. She said if you aren't eating an outrageous number not to worry about it.

As with everything, moderation and balance are important. I wouldn't rely solely on carrots for your veggie, although you could make worse choices. If carrots are the only veggie you will eat, then eat away! It's better than eating french fries or going without veggies. You're missing out on some key nutrients that are found in green and red veggies. I doubt that carrots will make a significant impact in your weight loss rates.

I eat lots and lots of carrots! Love 'em. One of my favorite uses is the bagged shredded carrots, which go great simmered in the soups.

I agree -- there really shouldn't be an issue with carrots vs. other foods. Too much of anything can be bad, I suppose...but there are far worse things than eating too many carrots. Eat up!

Carrots are "free foods" on Jenny Craig.
The beta-caratone is very good for you!
For optimum health benefit - go for organic baby carrots!
