...a repeat of my post in the August thread.
Well all, I have my weigh-in this afternoon. I'm hoping I've lost at least a bit. I did a boneheaded thing this weekend. We live in an apartment Miami during the week, but spend the weekends at our little house near Orlando. When we leave on Fridays, I pack a cooler with my JC frozen stuff, veggies, etc. ...except this past Friday I totally forgot about packing the frozen stuff. So, I ended up eating "regular" food the whole weekend.
I was pretty good about making wise choices and hubby even cooked enchiladas from one of the JC cookbooks for Saturday lunch (yummy, by the way!) ...but it still wasn't the easy discipline of just eating the JC foods.
So, we'll see what the scales thinks.
Actually, it was a nice break. I've been on JC for 10 weeks now and I'm finding I'm getting tired of the same things over and over again. I need to be adventuresome and try some other things, but I really only like a few of the shelf-stable foods so that leaves me with only the frozen stuff for my choices.
...and I understand that they've discontinued the Thai Lemongrass Chicken that I could have eaten 7 days a week.
Has anyone tried the new BBQ chicken with beans? I asked my consultant about it and she said some people really liked it, but she wasn't crazy about it ...and since it's a shelf-stable product, I decided to give it a pass ...but I'd love to hear what others think of it.
Have a great day everyone ...and let's get some chatter going here!

Hello! Where is everyone? I am sorry I think I messed up this thread trying to edit my profile!
I have been gone for birth of new grandchild, but, c section was cancelled and we are now awaiting the call that the "stork is coming"! LOL! We did not have wireless connection for the laptop and couldn't get on line when we were gone.
Can't say I've been all that good on program, but, back on the straight and narrow today!
Attagirl66
I've been avoiding the shelf stable JC foods (I'm not sure why except that I didn't like one that I had some time ago (I don't even remember whaich one it was). Anyway, last night I had the lentils with beef and vegatables (mostly carrots, it seemed), and it was very good. I'll definitely have it again, and it fits in with my personal little diabetes type 2/carb count "subplan."
Dixie P
Has anyone tried the new bbq chicken shelf dinner? I have it, but not tried it yet. I just assumed it was a frozen when it was suggested to me to try!
konslerg
Attagirl66 ...I'm not crazy about most of the shelf stable meals either, but I DO like the lentils and beef and the Swedish meatballs and noodles a lot.
DixieP ...re the new BBQ chicken and beans, I haven't tried it either. When I asked my consultant about it, she sort of turned her nose up. I got the message without her really saying anything negative LOL ...but then, she also dislikes the Potsitckers and that's one of my personal favorites!
I didn't like the Southwest Style Chicken Burrito the first time I had it, but my consultant suggested smothering it with fresh salsa and that made all the difference in the world! Yummy!
Attagirl66
Thanks for the recommendation of the swedish meatballs, konslerg. I will try them next week as one of my lunch items. They have only 30 carb grams, and that's good since I keep an eye on my carb count.
All the best. Mary in Baltimore.

Well, folks, I need a pep talk. I've only lost 1/2 pound since the first of September. Now I'm not going to fib and tell you I've been 100% faithful to JC ...but I haven't done anything silly either ...no heavy meals, no candy bars, no pigging out on chips or pretzels. But I have had a few "regular" meals during the month.
I guess what has me a bit "down" is the realization that, even changing my eating habits completely and really watching my calorie/fat/sugar intake, it could take a year or more to lose another 25 pounds.
I'm just not sure I want to do JC for a whole year. I'm already getting tired of the same old stuff after just three months. I do vary what I eat, but not enough, I guess. Hence the few "regular" meals this past month.
Any insight into how to get the enthusiasm back?
Attagirl66
It's hard. After successfully resisting an after dinner craving to eat one night this week, the very next night I ate between 1/3 and 1/2 box of Curves dry cereal. I've been okay so far since then, but then there's WI on Saturday. I'm not particularly enthusiastic at this point, but, on the other hand, I don't want to resign myself to walking around weighing 241 lbs and more to come by binging. Sometimes, when I feel "thin," I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror and see the reality. Fortunately, I still like the food and the fact that I have to do minimal cooking. Hope this helps. HANG IN THERE!

I can only say that if you didn't do JC for a year??? (if that is how long it takes) what would you be doing? What would you be eating all day long that you can't have now? And, how many more lbs will you put on in the next year if you don't stay on the plan until you really lose 25 lbs?
I have that much to lose also...but what? go back to what I used to eat? I see now how my portions were enough for two or three people. I think JC gives so much variety it is unbelievable.
Maybe you could look around and read the boards on substitute dinners that might be in the same nutrition group but offer different flavors like LC or WW entrees. something a bit different. But, life is all about choices. We need to eat right and exercise EVERY day of our life. There is no other option.
I hope you can remotivate yourself. Take one meal at a time. Instead of saying you can't have it (whatever you think you want)...maybeyou can look at all the things you can have and how much you enjoy them.
Somebody on these boards reminded me lately that nothing tastes as good as thin feels. She was soooooooooo right. Good luck! You can do it and what if it really didn't take you a year????????

Hi Everyone,
I just started Jenny on Wednesday and I am loving the program. I did Atkins about 3 years ago and lost 50# but since then have put 25 back on. This food is soooo much better and I am finding the plan very easy to follow. I am 61 and have been over 200 since I was probably about 16. Right now my joints are starting to rebel and I decided I needed to get some weight off and hopefully I won't end up having to use a walker or be stuck in a wheel chair!! I just went back to work 1 day a week cause I miss seeing people and needed a reason to get out of the house once in a while. I love crocheting and 4-wheeling. I've enjoyed reading the message boards and was happy to see there is a group of people my age. Will be looking forward to chatting with you all in the future.

Tipplergrannie,
Great for you!! I am into my 3rd week, and have lost 8 lbs so far - still a long way to go!! - 70 more LOL. In talking to my counselor this week, she told me about the cookbook that helps to enhance the Jenny meals. Have ordered that, and am anxious to get it. There is a chat that talks directly about the recipes that are legal.
Keep up the great work, we all need the encouragement from each other, don't we???
Way to go!!

Hi everyone. I am an "over 60" and have been on JC program since Sept. 6th - I've lost 11.8 so far. I'm loving the food and finding the program easy to follow (so far). I found that following the program and not eating out much works best for me.
Good luck to all and I look forward to chatting.

Hi All,
I've been doing good with sticking to the diet but because of my bad knees and hip I haven't been doing any exercising. Last time I tried my treadmill (about 4 months ago) I ached so bad I could hardly move the rest of that day and most of the next, so I'm afraid to try it again. Does anyone have any suggestions for exercising that does't put too much stress on those joints?

Hi tipler grannie,
I have a painful arthritic knee that needs replacing, which is one reason I'm on the JC plan--to get my weight down to a point that will make the surgery easier. I want to exercise but have not yet found anything that I can do without pain. I've DVD's of chair exercises and Leslie Sansone walking routines, but am not yet able to keep up. Periodically, I climb onto my stationary bike and try it, but can't get my bad knee to make the pedal circle. But I'm still searching and know that the more I lose, the more I'll be able to exercise. I guess my concern is that I'll reach a point at which I am no longer losing because of the lack of exercise. But...one day at a time.
All the best. Mary

Hi! I'm the new "kid" on the block. Live in So. Florida and have been trying to lose at least 50 lbs for the last 8 years!!!/I need all the support I can get. Also, has anyone tried other diet prepared freezer foods like Smart Ones, etc. They seem to be less expensive and I am trying to keep on a budget if possible. Good luck to you all and hope to hear from you.....
By the way, how do I use the icons and how do I list my starting weight and goal weight? Thanks for any help you can give.
tipler grannie
Klonsberg, I am really enjoying the variety of foods Jenny has to offer. I know I wouldn't take the time to make all the different things that we can buy pre-packaged. When I did Atkins 3 years ago I found myself eating the same old things over and over and when the holidays came along I guess I just ate what I wanted and after I couldn't get myself to get back on track. I hate cooking for just myself (baking is another story!!) and at least with Jenny you get real food - not like some of the nasty stuff Atkins had to offer. Hang in there!!

Konslerg... DON'T give up now! We're not 20 anymore so it's going to take us longer to GET IT OFF. We didn't gain the weight overnight and we're not going to lose it overnight. Wouldn't you rather be down 1/2 lb. than up?! :-) Chances are, if you hadn't been on JC, you'd be up more than 1/2 lb. by now.
My husband and I started JC 6 weeks ago and he's already lost 24.5 lbs. and I've lost 17. He hasn't worked out at all while I'm jogging 5 miles every single morning, strength training and doing floor workouts. :-) I've NEVER worked so physically hard to lose weight in my life... but.... every pound lost has been worth it. Men lose weight faster... more muscle which burns fat, et.
Fortunately, we both love Jenny Craig food and have never once felt deprived. My husband has learned to eat slow (take a LEAST 20 min. to eat a meal to let his brain realize he's eaten), put his fork down between each bite and chew each bite at least 10 times. It's worked! He can't believe it. He used to wolf down a huge plate of spaghetti in a matter of mins. and go back for seconds. NOW he's completely satisfied and happy he's finally learned how to eat and not remain hungry. PLUS whenever either of us feel the "urge" to "splurge" (which is rare) we drink a ANOTHER glass of water or go brush our teeth. It works! Really! :-)
Just give yourself a chance, though. If you're going to JC... it's like the field of dreams... follow their plan as outlined and the pounds WILL come off. They will.
During Desert Storm, my 18 year old son joined the Army and off to war he went. Not knowing what was going to happen, I ate myself into oblivion and gained 40 lbs.... so off to JC I went and lost the 40 PLUS some. I kept it off for the most part until about 3 years ago when I had some major hurdles to overcome in my life and lost control again. So here I am... back on the plan and loving every minute. My husband and I are having so much fun watching the scale go down, down, down. Wooo hooo!
Good luck and just follow the Jenny Craig plan and IT WILLLLLL WORK!!!!!

Had my first WI today and am totally happy!! I lost 10# and even though I know it is a lot of fluid loss it is very encouraging. How do you go about getting the ticker things to show your progress? I am not seeing anything on where you get them from.

Whoo Hoo!!! How great for you and what a motivation.
I've been on the plan for 11 weeks now and have just reached the 10 pound mark. In fact, when I weighed in on Monday, I was up .2 ...but I'm saying that was due to the fact that I had on long pants instead of shorts (Queen of rationalization!!)
What I am discovering is that I need to be "on plan" 100% ...no little cheats or nibbles.
...but that's another story.
Anyway, keep up the good work!! Your sucess is encouraging me to work harder.
...and boy! is it nice to see some activity in this group again!

10 lbs! That's AWESOME! That's equivalent to losing a nice big ole ham!!!! Woooo hoooo! Good for you! Keep it up!
I'm 61 and as I said in my last post, this is the hardest I've worked in my LIFE to lose weight. I know that without the discipline that the Jenny Craig plan offers and the added exercise... it just wouldn't come off quite as fast for me either. I just figured I might as well give it the extra push to exercise while I physically can.
You should be proud of 10 lbs!!!! Shoot, I could GAIN 10 lbs in a week if I let myself. I could eat pizza and steak like most people drink water. LOL Again, I say, GOOD FOR YOU!!!! You're losing almost a 1 lb a week!!! :-)))))

Hi, I will add my two cents about JC food. Right now I am fairly new so am not tired of the food yet. But, I think it is a good idea to have back up...it is nice to know that if you need a different taste that we can substitute a LC or SO and just try and stay in the calorie count/nutrient count.
And, if financially you need to substitute to stay with JC, then do what you need to do. There is a lot said about that in prior posts in different areas so check it out.
And, of course, if we could have done it simply on LC or other frozen food, we would have. Seems like we all need the support of JC. Let's do it over 60 gals.

I'm back! Well, kinda. Went down south (CA) for birth of new granddaughter, 2nd trip, 1st was false alarm, LOL. Hubby dropped me off at my daughters for another week of house/kid/dog sitting for my daughter during the kids Fall break.
I really fell "off the wagon" for a couple of weeks, and am now back on program! I visited the JC site by my daughter's and got food to last the week. I haven't weighed in since I wrote about being upset with the measuring, etc. (at least 3 weeks) I have appointment with the center Director, to measure, and get back on track. Hopefully, I can do some "damage control" before I weigh in next week!
BUT - EVERYONE, including me noticed the difference in my body profile, and my face, in pictures with the new baby, as opposed to pictures from last Christmas, and the new parents wedding last June. WOW - that was really motivational! I hate the way I looked in those previous pictures. AND, I just went to Walmart and got the NEXT size down in the stretch jeans I love to wear (long and cut off type). I got tired of "hiking up" my pants all the time! So that was also exciting and motivational for me to continue my quest to goal weight! I will try to update my stats when I finally get home. We are going on another trip next Wed. and lots of challenges coming up, really from now until Christmas! More later! Glad to see all of you old and new friends on the board!

Hi everyone,
This is the end of week 4 for me, and so far have lost 11 lbs. Still have a long way to go. There is a recipe message board that may help give some ideas to enhance the JC foods, and also the JC "Creative Recipes" cookbook that has good suggestions for adding some variety.
I also am getting somewhat tired of some of the food, but I LOVE the convenience! This is the best yet, and I don't have to worry about shopping, cooking, planning and cleaning up afterward. To me that is a big boost.
Have toyed with the idea of using some of the less expensive foods at the grocery store, but so far have not tried them. I feel that since I have not tracked the calorie-protein-carbo levels, may not be so good?
Keep up with the good work, it will come off, it will come off, it will come off...
