I'm looking for new tunes to move to ... because I've recently found by chance that some selections that are new and different (for me) really get me up and moving.
Throughout the years, the tunes I found most irresistible have been things such as "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" by The 4 Tops, "Start Me Up" by the Rolling Stones, "Twist and Shout" ... well, you get the idea.
Most of what I've been forced to listen to on the radio by Britney Spears was intolerable ... but I gotta tell you: This one is going in my All-Time Top 5 Move-It list:
Do Somethin'
Love the hard beat and the chorus lyric: "I see you looking at me like I'm some kind of freak ... why don't cha do somethin'? ... why don't cha just move along?" Did I say I have a feisty attitude at times? lol
Another motivator: "If You're Going Through H*ll (Keep on Going/Moving)" by Rodney Atkins.
"You think things can't get worse than that and then they do ... I've been deep down in that darkness." This song not only gets me moving but puts a big smile of hope on my face: I can do this! Just keep moving!
What are you moving to??? Inquiring minds want to know.

I love a selection of Simon and Garfinkel tunes on my Ipod: Mrs. Robinson, Slow Down (your moving too fast), Cecelia, Sounds of Silence to name a few. I really have to resist the urge to dance along on my morning walks (when I walk, that is)!

Hi, ladies, I'm 27, so I know this isn't officially my board, but I often "move" around my house to music and thought I could add a song to your list that you may or may not have heard.
"Gotta Get Through This" by Daniel Bedingfield - the lyrics (gotta get through this, I'm gonna get through this, gotta make it through) and beat are enough to get you through anything!
Hope you don't mind me throwing in my suggestion

Dixie & Shay, thanks for replying!
Dixie, I say "Go for it!" if you feel like dancing on your walk. :o Sometimes I dance in my car (while it's stopped).
Shay, glad you added to the list. May you be blessed to reach your 60's; life is precious. I didn't recognize the name, but I went to Napster and am listening to his album -- his song "If You're Not the One" is very familiar to me from radio play. Nice listening for this afternnon inside after taking care of errands in the heat.

I like to listen to talk radio while out walking. It keeps me from boredom most of the time. I love music, but not while exercisiing. (Try Pink Martinis. It's my fav of the moment.)

I LOVE the Pink Martini group - I will have to dig around and find out the name of their other cd that is just as great. LOL both my husband and I think they are great and discovered them a year or so when we heard them on NPR. We shared the cd's with our children on a trip and I think they thought that we were nuts. We really love the varity and talent of the musicians.
