Am I crazy for being upset?
I've been with Jenny for over 4 months now started at 378.6 and after today's weigh in I'm now 324.6. But I've really hit a wall lately, I only lost .4 this week. Three of my last six weigh ins I had .2, .2, and .4. I haven't been cheating and I've been going to the gym.
I am really happy with 54 pound of lost but I'm getting bummed with my low totals lately.
So am I crazy???

no you're not crazy. Impatient perhaps! You said what you lost 3 of the 6 times, but what about the other 3? They were obviously larger - some people have patterns like that. Orrrr, maybe your body is just adjusting to the losses so far as you have lost quite a bit? Or maybe you are getting close to a weight where your calories will be reduced??
.
Anyways you are doing fabulous - I know there is a long way to go to goal but if you stick with the program you WILL get there. Don't fret the pace (so much easier said than done!) just keep making healthy choices that support your longterm goals.

Not loco...well maybe un pocito! (a little)
54 lbs in 4 months is absolutely AMAZING...take time to reflect on where you were, not just where you're headed...you've already discovered some wonderful changes in your appearance and energy levels, I'm sure.
You're on your way & you will get there....be kind to yourself!!

Way to go, Chummley! You've done great so far!!
You mentioned that 3 weigh-ins were under 1 lb, but you didn't say if those were consecutive WIs or not. That's important! If they are NOT consecutive, don't worry about it and try to keep your chin up because that just might be your weight loss pattern.
If they have been consecutive WIs, then maybe you're hitting a plateau and after another WI like that, it may be time to "shake up" your gym workouts or your caloric intake.
In either case, though, just hang in there! You'll meet your goal with Jenny and US on your side!!

Hi Chummley, I wouldn't be bummed. I too had a mere -4. this past wi and went off the program (being-crazy) by going to my JC snacks, don't do it! I feel your pain, just keep with the program and reaching out for support. I had a JC lady tell me it is just a scale and not a reflection of all the inches lost. Perspective...Attitude...
Hang in there and you know we will support you!
Thanks, one-of-a-kind

Chummly, I can relate. I felt especially in the early part of losing weight I wouldn't find a stall in my progress as soon as I did. It's just a trick I tell you, your body is tricking your mind and wanting you to go back to your old ways. DON"T DO IT! It's a battle, war! You are the warrior! It's either you or that tricky brain of your's! Don't give in.
Honestly, there is a chemical "thing" going on in your body, it's hard wired in your DNA. There was a study I saw on TV (I think it was 20/20) about this very situation. This is the point where most give in, throw in the towel and most likely, gain their weight back. That's only if you throw in the towel. Take a few deep breaths, center your mind on what you're going to do, and just do the best you can. It works, you just have to give it time. Another thing to consider is other changes are happening, one's that you can't see yet. And keeping on track builds resolve for the future. It's a long road ahead and I'm sure you knew it would be when you started. You've done a great job so far, pat yourself on the back for that. Now take a few of those relaxation breaths, get some positive self-talk in your brain, and get back on track. It's not a race, the fastest person to the finish line is not the goal. It's just getting there, no matter how long it takes.
Keep up the good work lady! You can do it!

My sister told me recently that she read you should lose weight for 6 mos and then take a break and just maintain for a while. Allows your body to get used to it. Also, beware of losing weight too quickly - it can lead to gallstones - especially for those of us over 40.
I have a friend, early 40's, who lost a lot of weight quickly on Atkins. She had so many gallstones showing on the xray/mri/whatever it was her doctor thought she might have gall bladder cancer - which is pretty much a death sentence. Scared her half to death at least. When the doctor removed the gall bladder it was just chock full of stones and thank goodness that's all it was. But now she has trouble digesting certain foods.
Be kind to your body - appreciate it before it fails on you.

Thanks everyone for the support.
My other weigh ins over the 6 weeks were 1.2, 2.1, and 1.2.
When I started I wasn't even working out and the weight was flying off. I realize I've hit a little of a wall. I'll continue to follow the program and work out and hopefully I'll continue to loose.
I did have a suprise last night that helped give me an additude adjustment. My wife took me to get some new shirts because according to her I've been swimming in the 5x ones I've been wearing. I just planned on getting a couple 4x ones but she made me try on a couple 3x shirts, not all of them fit comfortably to my liking but I did end up getting 5 shirts and 4 of them were 3x.

YEAH!!!!!! Didn't that feel GREAT?!

I lost motivation for a little while when my numbers were getting lower but I tried upping my water intake. It worked. The last few weeks have been 3-4 pounds. Try it out for a week and see what happens.
Also, maybe your counselor should input your stats in the computer again. Maybe you need an adjustment in your calories. My counselor lowered my calories then the next week I had a different counselor and she typed my info in and changed me back since the computer said I didn't need to change. I completely didn't mind that I got to eat more food again.
One last suggestion, maybe you need to switch things up. After being on the program for a while I noticed that I was in a pattern of eating the same things every day or at least every week. Sometimes we need to add variety.

Thanks for all the support everyone
And good job shellshock, I started about the same time as you and I can't wait until I get to 60 pounds.
They have me on 2300 calories right now but they're talking about dropping me soon.
TooAnxiousToLose
Hey Chummley, I am on 2300 too, I will drop down, when I get down to 300 lbs. thats in 23 lbs. I am in no rush, the weight is coming off just fine on 2300 for me. Sounds like for you too! I have over 200 lbs to lose, so I will be here a while. Good Luck!
Chummley
I talked with my counsler last week and she did drop my calories to 2000. Because of that and the added trips to the gym, I was down 2.2 at my WI today.
I'm now down 57.6 in 21 weeks. HOORAY!!

Outstanding!
You are working it!!
Doesn't it feel good???? Have you conceptualized how much weight that is....go to the store & try to lift a huge bag of dog food...you'll appreciate it!
That connection came to me this week when I threw a big bag in my trunk....it was HEAVY!!!
Queen_Arlene
You are only about as crazy as the rest of us, I suppose.
One week, when I "only" lost 1 lb after being fairly "good" all week, and I decided to share my ire with my hubby, he took out a 1 lb pack of bacon and smacked me with it, then asked me if that hurt and did I want to reconsider the insignifigance of "just" a pound.
Kinda reminded me of when Rafiki hit Simba with the stick on Lion King.....or something like that.
Point is, it is not really about the numbers..I mean, it IS because you are loosing weight and that is measured week to week in pounds, so it IS..but for someone who needs to loose as much weight as we do, this is not primarily about getting those pounds off (as crazy as THAT sounds, it's true). This is more about learning how to eat like a "normal" person and making changes that will last a lifetime, cause you are gonna need that, Chummley. The weight loss, those numbers rolling down, are a SECONDARY affect of what your primary goal is..to learn how to eat sanely. You are going to have to rethink and reprogram your relationship with food, along with your perspectives. (I'm still struggling with entitlement issues - if I don't volumize my plate to Godzilla proportions, I feel cheated. Talk about food issues. Heh.) It's not easy, but they say good habits take at least six months to establish - hang in there. It gets easier.
Don't let the numbers bother you. Just make the right choices, tweak your diet when the numbers are unkind and remember ...failure is not an option!!!

I lost 60 pounds in two years on Weight Watchers--and had numerous gall bladder attacks. Weight loss didn't cause it, though. The problem for me was that I was going too many hours between meals and not eating enough fat. I was also in the range of the 4 Fs: Fat, over Forty, Fertile, and Female.
Also, and a BIG ALSO, unbeknownst to me, I was beginning to have low thyroid. It runs in my family. Evidently the problems go hand in hand FOR ME. YMMV.
