This is a question to the members who have been on the program for a while. Does the cost of the food go down? I have been on the program for two weeks and I ghave already spent about $300.oo on food. I could never eat this much food in a month. What do other people do to keep the food cost reasonable?

Well, I'm re-starting the program tomorrow. This will be my 3rd time over the course of 15yrs. I never remember food being that high priced. In fact, when I called to make my appointment for me and my father in law, I specifically asked (for my f.i.l.)how much it runs and was told between $11-$15 per day.
BTW, it's nice to meet you. I, too, have more than 200 to lose. But, I'm just gonna take it one day at a time. How have you done so far?

Hi Misti it is great to meet you. I did not do well at all my first week. I did not lose anything. I didn't gain, but I didn't lose either. I hope I will have better results this week.

Princess, did you stay completely on track? Did you go off plan a lot? Are you getting a bit of exercise in - even 20 min of walking? What calorie count do they have you on?
good luck and good for you for doing this. My husband and I use to eat out a lot so I am finding us saving tons of money with me being on JC. So, I find it inexpensive. However, if you are use to eating at home then it may be a bit more for you now. You should do a price comaprison of what you use to spend on food and whant you spend now.

Welcome! If you are on the Rewards plan the cost goes down as your discount goes higher. You can ask for an order form and then that way you would know what is the price difference between meals and could order more of the "cheaper" ones if you like them. I do not suggest subbing much at the beginning especially but most people do sub the dressings and syrups pretty much right away. I started mid-Sept and try to eat 100% Jenny but cannot help 1-2 meals a week off program. I will be at 30% discount in a couple more weeks so the cost has gone down considerably for me already. This is a great program and it does work - hang in there OK and do not eat less than your menu shows because many times people who are overweight eat too little and their metabolism is totally shot so it needs time to reset itself into the fatburning mode!

Hi
I have been on JC since March '06. 30 inches and 51 pounds lighter I have taken a break from the center. Even at the 30% I am spending 50 - 60 $$. Right now I just can't afford it. I will say this though, JC taught me valuable lessons in eating right, volumizing and that every movement counts. I may not lose as much now but I know I will not gain. Eventually I will go back but the tools they taught are actually the most valuable thing they provide. Try to stick to it long enought to gain your confidence and you will do great! A healthy breakfast cereal from the store and berries and bananas is a great way to start your day. Tuna and low fat mayo with a bed of greens, homemade turkey chili, portioned and frozen is simple!,and yes, lowfat tortilla made into a veggie pizza! By the way, you can bake your own potato, scoop 1/2 the potato out for another meal, top with broccoli and low-fat sour cream and Yummy!
Try just purchasing $50 worth of food. With your discount it works . 15% = 41.00,20%=40.00,25%=37.50,30%=35.00.
I used to buy my dinners and 2 lunches. It worked! Just be smart, diligent and remember all your snacks! 100 calorie packs, low fat cheeses, carrot and celery sticks, even a tblspoon of PB- these all work!
Sorry to ramble, I just know where your coming from!
Good luck!

Cost or no cost I have to say that I have never felt so good physically and mentally as I do now that I am following the JC program. I understand the cost issues...I feel it too but I look at it with the respect of what is my life worth? What am I worth? How much will it cost if I have a heart attack? How much will it cost for me to develop diabetes? This helps to put it all into perspective.

Cost has been a real issue for me. I'm on disability social security, which gives me very little money. My husband has been working as a groomer at Petco, business has been really bad, he hasn't been hitting commissions so he's basically only getting his $7 hourly pay (that's right.... petco only pays their groomers $7 an hour, and it's hourly OR commission not both). So... with all our other bills, we've only been able to manage the required $50 a week of Jenny food. Read your labels, learn your nutritional info, and spend some time looking around your freezer section where you shop. I've found suitable meal substitutes that were very inexpensive. I've found foods at Save-A-Lot, Target, etc. that all have comparable nutritional values to some of the Jenny foods for a fraction of the cost. I'm at 30% off now at Jenny, so I'm able to buy all of my dinners, and a few lunches. The rest I buy at the grocery store. Monday, my husband started a job at the IRS. It's a lot more money than he's been making at Petco, so I'll probably be able to afford more Jenny food again. But, I've learned to do so much of it on my own now, that I may just stick with what's been working. My losses have been good, not so great the last few weeks because I haven't been able to get to the pool, but they'll get better once I'm back on my exercise schedule. So, it is possible to stay on the plan even if buying all the Jenny food is beyond your budget.
