Hi, I just joined Jenny Craig November 12th. Lost 2.4 pounds the first week and after reading alot of these posts it's a little discouraging. Seems like a lot of people lose more the first week. I thought it would be about 5 pounds! Anyway, just checking in with the rainbow group to say Hi and wondering if there is anyone out there who started around the same time as me.

Don't be discouraged. You have done great. Everyones weight loss if going to be different depending on their weight loss history, how much they need to lose, water weight etc. The other people may have been retaining a lot more water than you so that first week so they lost more weight but it is not true FAT loss.
Don't give up you are doing great - Slow and steady wins the race!!
YOU CAN DO THIS! Keep upi the good work!

Hello.
Glad you decided to join. Just wanted to echo what Kathytnt already said-- the large numbers at the beginning are not fat loss, they are mostly water weight loss... so, a lot of different things can affect that... if, for example, you already drink a lot of water, you wouldn't show as much loss. Or, if you are female & it is a certain time of month, that could do it too... I really wouldn't worry about it. A loss is a loss! you are moving in the right direction.
My first week, I only lost 2 lbs, so you did better than me. <grin.>I don't regret joining for a minute, though... I'm down 2 sizes and know I'm doing the right thing to take care of my health.
Also, you have a lower start weight--I've been told that people with higher start weights tend to lose more in the beginning, though I don't know if that is true...
Poeple lose at very different rates... just be gentle with yourself & keep on going!

Thanks Kathy and Amanda for the words of encouragement. I go in for my WI today at 3pm. I'm a little nervous because I had Thanksgiving and my birthday this week so I didn't exactly stick to the diet 100 %. Oh well. I guess I should go walk on the treadmill instead of sitting here on the internet. It's so hard to get motivated to exercise though!

You need to find an excercise you enjoy otherwise you are going to feel like it is torture. What do you like to do? Play with pets - Go for a walk - Dance to your favorite music
ALthough I like to walk it is not always convenient. I invested in a recumbant exercise bike and it allows me to read and or watch tv while I work out and I don't get bored.
Maybe you might like kickboxing or martial arts - Dare to be different!! Not everyone is into treadmills Check out the tools at you Jenny Craig center or find something different that is uniquiely suited for you Zumba - Tae Bo - Pilates
Try it to you find your niche!
