Hi,
I'm a single mom of two teenage daughters... neither of which drive yet! A life? What's that? I don't feel like I've had a life in over 9 years (since I've been divorced). Oh and my youngest plays club soccer, so that's an all consuming adventure in itself!!!
I can relate to the frustrations.... and trying to get on with life
Wow, guess I'm having a "down" day!

Hi,
I'm a single mom of three: 14-yr-old daughter and 13-yr-old boy/girl twins. Jenny Craig has been a Godsend for me, because it makes my own food such a no-brainer now. I feel like somebody is taking care of ME for a change! My girls are watching my weight shed off and they are jealous. My oldest is 50 pounds overweight herself, my youngest could shed a few pounds too. My son, of course, has zero body fat haha, the little bony butt hehe. He's the only one in the house NOT watching his weight, and constantly begs me to go buy the big plastic tubs of ice cream (what a tease).
I really encourage/demand that my children do their share around the house. For instance, their own dishes. I hate dirty dishes in the sink when I get home from work! I finally told 'em that if they're too lazy to put a dish in the dishwasher, I'm too lazy to cook - they can have cereal for dinner. Next day, sure enough, one of them leaves a dish in the sink, and she ate Cheerios for dinner. The other two watched this in horror (they got to have the roast pork, mashed potatoes, etc. their sister was missing out on), and I haven't had the problem since haha!. They also know the automatic "no" to any question that starts "Mom can I..." only changes to "yes" when their room is clean, laundry caught up, and chores complete.
They're great kids. They're all teenagers now, but they're great kids. Yeah, they run me ragged, but as long as I can survive the next 5 years I'll never go to my grave regretting a single moment. They don't seem to mind that we no longer have staples in the pantry like Lays, Froot Loops, ice cream, cookies - all the stuff I got rid of when I started Jenny Craig. Last night, I started the whole family off on salad, and when they'd finished that they could get their soup and grilled-cheese sandwiches. They ALL ate every speck of salad too, and I think they enjoyed it!!!
I just love those guys

Marrgaa,
I've tried the "chore" thing with my teenage girls, seems like I have a real problem sticking with it though! Right now, I just figure my house will be clean when they are in college!! I heard a quote once by Phyllis Diller (I think) "Cleaning the house while there are still children living there is like shoveling the driveway while it's still snowing!" I can relate!!!
Sounds like you're experiencing the same troubles as I am... I haven't been able to go in for a couple of weeks due to finances. I think I'm doing pretty good on my own, but I miss the weekly weigh in and the "no brainer" food choices!
