Hello everyone! My husband is in the USAF (22 years) and is leaving again Sunday. He should be home in the beginning of August. This is his 7th deployment and I am planning on using this opportunity to change our lives. My six year old daughter wrote a note to the lady at JC and said,"Thank you for helping my mommy get healthy!" Sheez, if that isn't motivation, I don't know what is. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and am counting on this message board for support. One day at a time! That's all I keep thinking.
Remember...people are like snowflakes..they are weak by themselves..but together, they can stop traffic.
We can do it!!

What a great time to work on weight reduction.... With him gone so long, you will be a "new woman" when he returns.
Enjoy your husband before he leaves and know there are a lot of prayers for deployed personnel as well as their families. Happy New Year!

Hey Tanya
I too am losing weight while my hubby is deployed. He left in early December and won't be returning until June. He is USNavy. I don't actually start my program until the 16th though. I know you have got to be motivated by the letter your daughter wrote. That was just too cute. My 8 year old daughter went with me to the center to get info. She was smiling ear to ear when we left and said "Mommie, Daddy wont know what hit him!" I thought that was the cutest thing. You know, If you ever feel like you can't make it just think back to your daughter's actions the day she wrote the letter. I am sure you will get right back in stride! Good luck and I hope to hear from you.

Traci,
I am sorry that your husband is gone as well. It's nice to know that there will be someone out there who understands the challenges of raising your kids, taking care of the house, pets, bills, etc. I am proud of you for going back on the 16th. Your daughter is right, you will be a new woman. You need to check out the gym on the base/post where he is. Ours has a family section and my daughter has been working out and playing while I do the treadmill. She really enjoys it and it's keeping both of us healthy.
I am looking forward to hearing from you again. Tell your daughter that her mommy is strong and can do anything if she sets her mind to it!!

Yes it is tough when they deploy. Like my friend always says "we have the hardest job in the military--spouse". Yes it is nice to have someone who understands what it is like. I am glad that I found this thread.
Good idea about the gym on base. I didnt think about the family gym. I definetly will have to check it out. My appointment seems like is it a million days away and I know its not. Its a huge countdown and I am excited. You would think it was my birthday or something. It feels good to get back into the program.

Traci,
When do you weigh in? My big day is Saturday at 9:00. It will signify 2 weeks on JC and I am excited. I am glad that you are going to check out the gym on base. We went tonight and I did the treadmill for 32 minutes on incline level 2. I was so proud. I was scared to touch that incline button before, but boy did it get my heart rate up tonight. How long have you been on JC?
Have a great Thursday!

Hi, I used the military as an excuse to get fit as well. In my case it was my daughter, not my husband. When she left for basic training last May I told her I'd see her in nine weeks and I'd wear that skirt I love but could only get a thigh into! I lost 20 pounds while she was in basic and I wore that skirt to her graduation! I've now lost 20 more and I'm only 10 pounds from goal but I am still still using that original motivation to keep me on track. I don't want to go back - I love that skirt and I love my daughter for her support. I am so proud of her and of all our service men and women and please know your husbands are in our prayers during their deployment.
We can do this!!

WOW WOW WOW
Burks 40 pounds is awesome!! Congratulations! Tanya OMGoodness! Over 14 pounds in 2 weeks is FANTASTIC! Congratulations!
Tanya I am a returning client. In 2002 I started Jenny Direct--absolutely loved the program but because of things beyond my control I couldnt finish the program. Well now that I look at it, if I had planned a little better I probably could have stayed on track. Anyway I have started back and actually yesterday was my first day on. I actually started 2 days before my intened date because I just couldnt wait any longer. I had an appointment set up for this morning (saturday) but wednesday of this week I stormes in and told the director that I just couldnt wait the extra days! She laughed and said well right now we are closed LOL and that I could come back tomorrow. Well I will tell you I was there early thursday morning. I had my first consultation, signed up for the 12 month jenny rewards and was out the door with a huge smile on my face . I went home and unloaded my bags and went through everything and then I went shopping for my veggies and fruit. It felt so good going through the grocery store knowing that I was going to get back to the old me. I didnt even look at the foods I would have normally picked up. I held my head up and walked right by. It really feels good to be back on the program. I cant believe I ever let it go. I hope to be at least to halfway by the time my husband gets home. He will be home in June--just in time for summer.
Sorry it took me so long to get back on here I think I have too much going on right now. I cant control everything else but I can control my weight!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say hello and thank you for all your sacrifices. I'm mom to a Marine currently in Iraq, and I definitely know the continual stress and fear that goes along with a deployment. I will be a first- time Grandma in May, and I know how hard it is on his girlfriend to go through the entire pregnancy on her own. Thankfully, he's due back about a month before the baby arrives.
One thing I don't have to deal with is raising a family while my military husband is deployed, though. I commend you for realizing what's important in life and taking charge of your own while he is away, and making the best of what is a very difficult situation!
Good luck to you all!

Hi ladies -
First off - tracy and tanya - I'm very proud of you gals! My husband returned at the end of July after an 18-month deployment to Iraq. I tried JC while he was gone, but just couldn't do it. So now, still going through emotional issues, we both have gained more weight, so I have an appt on Thurs to start us both on the program again.
Sounds like you both have been through deployments before, so I know you can do it - the weight loss and the other stuff that goes along with the deployment. Keep your heads up high, keep working out and you'll both do marvelous!!! Again, I'm proud of you, from one military wife to two others! Be strong, be proud! HOOAHHH!
