I'm a really picky eater and I've found that a lot of the food is aimed toward adult taste rather than teen (I joined with my mom). Anyway it would be helpful to hear how others have managed with a similar problem.

I'm really picky myself. I've done the personalized menu from day one because of this.
There are ways to prepare things so that they taste like they are from a restaurant.
1) chicken sandwich - this sandwich tastes just like Sonic or other fast food grilled chicken sandwiches just by microwaving it first for about 90 seconds (without the bun), then brown it in a non-stick skillet with a little Pam spray. I toast the bun in the toaster just enough to thaw it and top my sandwich with everything I like. It is my favorite lunch item.
2) jenny's personal pizza - all you have to do to make this better is top it with your favorite raw vegetables and bake it for 15 minutes or less.
3) chicken fajitas - because this is sooo spicy, I like to use less seasoning and add liquid smoke (in the grocery store by the sauces) and either lemon or lime juice when it cooks. It really makes it taste good. You just add your favorite salsa and ff cheese or sour cream.
4) pesto pizza - I like to add a tiny can of canned chicken breast by sauteeing it in some Pam spray with some peppers, onions and garlic. I only cook the pizza for about 10-12 minutes, then top it with the skillet mixture. I then add ff cheese, salsa and sour cream and it tastes like a great fajita style pizza.
5) meatball stuffed sandwich - this sandwich is way too peppery for me so I started pouring Italian tomato sauce over it after microwaving it, then sprinkle with a little parm. cheese and it is so much better.
6) fish n chips - don't microwave this!! Bake them in the oven by first wrapping in foil and cooking for 20 minutes, then flip the fish over and leave the foil open and cook for another 20 minutes and it is really good and crispy. (I have never eaten much fish but I really like this kind.)
7) Have you tried the penne pasta? I tried it after doing this for 8 or 9 weeks and it was delicious! I really didn't expect to like it!
I hope some of these tips help you like the food. Have fun tweaking things!! Who would have thought we could turn an Italian pesto pizza into a Mexican fajita pizza?!!??
