Did you hear that they are finally adding one more vegetarian dinner item? I frozen cheese ravioli dish. Thank God!
purpleheathen
I just picked it up today and to my surprise, it's not a frozen meal. I'll wait to pass judgement till I try it though.

I just had it the other day and it was OK, nothing to write home about, but its good for the vegetarians. It reminded me of Chef Boyardee in its consistancy, but thats OK cause I like Chef Boyardee - its the kinda stuff I grew up on.
Its nice and filling, I had it with a big pile of steamed baby spinach and it was plenty. In addition, because it is a shelf stable item, it will be easy to take on the road - I'm sure my husband will be happy to just eat it straight out of the container without heating, he's a guy like that

I've never tasted Chef Boyardee. I grew up in an old-school Italian family who feigned heart attacks at the thought of pasta out of a can. As it is, whenever I eat my JC tortellini (which I enjoy!) I always say poor Grandma, she must be spinning in her grave. I think I'm going to try the new ravioli for dinner tonight.

I tried one cheese ravioli a few weeks ago, and I don't know if it's the same as this one. There were only 3 ravioli's in it, which was really not enough food for me. I didn't buy it after that. How many ravioli are in this one? Did you think that was enough food for a main dish dinner?
Weedy
I am on JC Direct, and order all my food online. They must not have updated their website yet to show information about the Cheese Ravioli. Can someone tell me if it is a lunch or a dinner? Thanks!

Just got back from weigh in and I bought it also, will let you know next week what I think...But to answer your question it's a diner!

I loved the frozen ravioli that they used to have, but they discontinued. You have to wonder sometimes. It was really great! You even had a delicious great veggie with it and the raviolis were melt in your mouth, hmm, hmm, good. Like JC what were you thinking? Now we have something out of a can and with no veggies? JC makes the best veggies, but they keep disappearing on us. The Pasta O' le was great on top of all different kinds of veggies and the Veggie Burger, (before you changed the way that you made it) was the best Veggie Burger ever made by anyone. You give us delicious veggie options and then you take them away from us? :confuse

Can anyone do me a favor and type out the ingredients, curious what's in it..?

Here you go. I haven't tried it yet myself, so I can't tell you how it is. But it's a shelf item, not frozen.

Thanks so much, des, for taking the time to type that out for me, appreciate it!!
I'll order some when I go to the center today and try it out. It'll be a welcome change from pasta fagoli.

No problem! I still haven't tried it, but today I had the penne pasta and really liked it. The only bad one so far has been the cheese ravioli--I thought it was so nasty. Definitely won't be buying that again. Next week I'm going to pick up some of the pasta fagioli, and hopefully I'll like that too.

hi
I tried the cheese ravioli too and I also think it tastes like Chef Boyardee -- which for me means that it is a little bland, a little mushy, but the sauce is nice, but bland. I won't get it again. I realize that the ravioli I had before was the Florentine Ravioli, that had the 3 raviolis in it. This has 5, I think, so it feels more like a meal. But it's not for me.
Kathleen04
So I tried it...it's simply OK..and a bit bland like others have said.
des, I think you'll like pasta fagoli, it's pretty good..though it keeps exploding all over my microwave.
drkiddo
how true that pasta fagioli explodes all over the microwave. i just had it tonight and yes, it exploded. Again. I keep forgetting that it really needs less time than the directions say.
sciencegeniousgirl
I usually take a paper napkin and loosely wrap it around the package with the open corner, so when it explodes (not if) it is contained to splatter on the napkin.

The shelf-stable ravioli has exploded all over my microwave. Even 1 1/2 minutes is too long.
