It seems like there are a significant number of veggies out there but very few posts on this chat board. Seems like we would have much in common both in what we eat and how we view issues relating to it. This is a great forum to discuss this and share our successes and failures and I would love to hear from you all!

Hi, I'm out here. I agree this section of the board is dead, needs to be resurrected.

All I can say is that I'm glad I don't seem to get sick of pizza......

No kidding, this is my first week and so far the only thing I've eaten that is not so great is the baked potato with broccoli. Just didn't do much for me.
The rest has been okay, but yeah, the variety is slim for us...

There are not many choices for us so i really eat lots of veggies.
Tonight was broiled aspargus with red peppers. yumyum I also subsitute with Boca- spicy chichen patties and WW bread, boca lasagna, and boca chile.Add hot sauce and a few crackers perfect lunch

Glad to know you are all out there! I just had the broccoli cheese potato - YUK! The salad was good though. It seems if you don't like pizza and paste you're sol.
Do any of you do the Jenny Direct? I'm curious to know how you have an accurate weight on your scale. As you know, home scales always weigh in about 4 or 5 pounds less than doctor scales.
Sorry you're plateaued (sp?) sciencegeniousgirl. What does your name mean? Other than you're a scientific genious...what do you do?
Any of you PETA members?
Gotta get to work! Lori

Lori,
I'm not doing JD but I do frequently use my home scale, I always weigh early in the morning before eating and sans clothing for consistency. Even so, it's only about 2 lbs lighter than the scale in center.

Hello All
I guess you could call me a modified vegetarian. What I mean is I love meatless meals as much as (and some times even more) those which contain meat.
So, I hope you will accept me into your group.
Now if anyone lives in the Sacramento area, and you want to "buddy" please let me know.
Have a good week.

Hello,
I am also a vegetarian (going on 14 years now), this is my second week on the plan. So far so good. I just wish they would expand the food options, as we all do. I'd like to see some Indian dishes or something with flavor.
Just wanted to say a quick hello.

You have to even wonder why they even allow us to have a veggie forum when they do not help us as far as even having a veggie menu or more veggie options.

I know b4 they had a veggie planned menu.

Yeah, my spelling was totally off above!! I had been maintaining with no losses for quite some time, but this week it may be different. I peaked at the scale... I have upped my workouts alot.
The name is from a song. It seemed to fit because I am finishing my masters in developmental biology and in May moving to the University of Michigan to get my PhD.

Am I the only one who loved the veggie burger?? I can't believe they took it off the menu...the have so few meatless choices anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mamakitty, I was wondering how much weight you're trying to lose.
I agree the vegetarian choices are deplorable. I'm very, very picky and won't eat most kinds of meat. So I see my options are really either pasta or pizza. I didn't much care for the potato soup, but liked the baked potato. Thank god I love vegetables, or I'd never be able to survive!
I am glad there are so many great gardenburgers out there, though. That way when I get intolerably sick of pasta I can still do the meal on my own option. I really love most of the MorningStar products, but I have to say I can't stand the BocaBurgers. And I tried some terrible fake chicken patty...I think that might've been one of the Boca products, too. Anyway, it was awful.
Anyone else have any other vegetarian favorites other than JC?
sciencegeniousgirl
Albertson's has comparable calorie and sodium options, but you need to read the boxes, some fit some don't:
Mon Cuisine
CedarLane
Amy's full meals (not the side dishes)
I hope this helps.

Hi, guess I'll put in my two cents. I have been a vegetarian for most of my 50 yrs. I lost 40 lbs. with Jenny in 1999...gained back 50 over a few years. Hmmmm. I've been back to the Jennyness since last summer and have lost 30. Slowly, but more securely! I have to say that I'm grateful for any veg options, especially with the soy/wheat meat. For the most part, I love the food, but when I've gotten bored it's been helpful to read this message board as I have gotten great ideas (and permission!) to spice the food up. Lately, I seem to be obsessed with the Safeway olive bar and their hot green olives, teriyaki mushrooms and marinated sweet red peppers. I know they add calories, but just a few of them in that combination is lovely on my ever present pizza or veggie burger. Lettuce and tomato are also great on the latter. Fat free sour cream is helpful tanginess on the baked potato, and I sometimes add extra stir-fried veggies such as spinach. Salsa helps the cheese enchilada, and a few jalapenos don't hurt. I do get tired of Italian and long for some Indian or something. For the occasional supplementation, Amy's is a big help there. I also love their veg. loaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, and peas and corn. Morningstar farms has a new "meal starters" chicken that is wonderful on a salad. (I'd never had actual chicken before. It creeps my children out enough that they wouldn't touch it, but I know it's plant material!)
Whew. When the shy person finally speaks she doesn't know when to quit. Sorry!

Hi everyone!
I'm a long time vegetarian who is a Yoga Teacher. I decided to lose about 16 pounds that would not leave... it liked hanging around too much! 16 pounds may not sound like much to some, I know, but it really changed how I felt about myself and how I looked too. The extra weight didn't fit how I want to be in the world. I put the weight on after my Dad died in 1992, and think it's time to lose the weight now. I've been doing this plan for about 2 months and lost 10 pounds.
This forum is great! Since I'm one who usually gives support, it's great to get support from you all, just by reading you are out there.

Hey all ~
Been on Jenny for about 10 months now. I so total agree...they need to help out us Vegetarians ! I've been hanging in there, but I have to say it is tough with what they give us to work with. Wish they would bring back Pasta ole & add some new good choices for us !
I am glad to see I'm not out here alone. Been a veggie for over 20yrs...still going strong...
Glad to see I"ll have some support with my new found friends here.
