Hi there!
I'm currently contemplating joining Jenny Craig, but have a few reservations... and some of your posts are only complicating things. Can somebody tell me what the deal is with vegetarian food choices? I'm lacto-ovo, so eggs and dairy aren't an issue, but meat is of course, a big ol' no-no!
I've tried Weight Watchers in the past, and it was a really awful experience. I didn't lose any weight at all, in fact I gained 5 or 6 pounds. They told me (a 14 yearold at the time, being 5'9" and 225 pounds my freshman year of highschool) that I need to lose 120 pounds. My pediatrician was appauled that they wanted me to get down to 115 pounds. He said my goal weight should lie between 140 and 150. That seemed like an obtainable goal. 3 years later and all I've done is yo-yo'ed from 190 lbs to 220 lbs over and over again. Cutting meat from my diet in May of '05 really helped things settle a bit, I initally lost about 15 pounds in 3 months, without changing anything in my lifestyle and eating/exercise habits but the whole no meat thing , but haven't made any more progress since, even with exercising more. Sooo, JC structure seems like a really good thing to me, but if there's nothing I can eat without subjecting myself to eating meat again, I may have to go somewhere else. Which would be to bad...

I posted this in another section, but thought I'd repost it to reply to you. This has worked for me.
Since the second week, when I was pretty dissatisfied with the vegetarian choices, I've been buying Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, or Boca or Gardenburger entrees, along with doing some cooking on my own. Quorn also has good meat substitutes. They're not thrilled about it at my center, but they understand. I'm still losing weight, albeit slowly, but it's working.

For breakfast you can have just about everything except the Sunshine Sandwich. I tend to eat the following for breakfast:
French Toast
Banana Nut Muffin
Blueberry Muffin
7 Grain Hot Cereal
For lunches I stick to:
Broccoli Cheese Potato
Personal Pizza
Cheesy Enchilada
Dinners for me are:
Lasagna (meatless crumbles)
Penne Pasta Bolognese (meatless crumbles)
Macaroni & Cheese
Florentine Ravioli
(I'm a seafood vegetarian) so I also have
Fish & Chips
Shrimp Teriyaki
But I'm aching for an egg breakfast that doesn't include meat.

PS:
I read in one of the posts that JC keeps eliminating foods that are vegetarian and replacing them with options that include beef or chicken because their market research reveals that we vegetarians make up only a small percentage of their business.
I find that reason so insulting and obnoxious. It just goes to show why most of the counselors are a joke - JC is a food sales company - period! If they were so all consumed with "Nutrition" then they'd know that beef is the single worst thing a human body can ingest!

Jewlsey--You can do this with JC. We are upset about losing some of our vegetarian choices, but it is still the only way I can lose weight. So far I have lost 33 lbs.since August. Also, my JC counselor thinks I have set my goal weight too low. We plan to re-evaluate it month by month. With JC, you set the goal weight. They will not tell you how much to lose. That is your decision. Good luck with your choice.
