Thanks for your input. I am sure I will come up with some bastardization of all of my favorite ideas from several vegan diet plans. smile.gif I have always loved fruits and veggies, I just have to find a plan where I can balance my nutrition as well. I will certainly give these sites a look and research these plans the next time I stop into my local library.

You can make your own sunshine sandwiches by baking Egg Beaters in the large Corningware ramekins with 1 tsp reduced fat (2%) cheese. Use Earth Grains reduced calorie english muffins, or any english muffin 120 calories or under. Use Morningstar farms breakfast strips to replace the 30-calories of canadian bacon.
Don't get mad--get creative!

I just joined a few weeks ago...Thanks for the suggestion about the Sunshine Sandwich. Does anyone know what the Morning Star Farms foods (corn dogs, burgers, etc) can be substituted for? Also, the only thing they list as a snack before lunch is fruit. There's gotta be something else!

I tried Nutrisystem and they do have vegetarian options. I really like their entrees. I wanted some more personalized help so I'm going to try JC, but it won't last long if they don't have anything I can eat!

Personally, I am sick of JC getting rid of vegetarian options. I love the program, but I think I am going to go elsewhere. I'm going to try Nutrisystem. They have a complete vegetarian plan. I know I have heard in the past that the food was not as good, but at least they have vegetarian food. What I still don't understand is the fact that the Australian menu is loaded with vegetarian options. Hmmmmmmmm,,,,makes one wonder.......

I haven't lost a pound because I think it's too much pasta. I'm ditching Jenny and doing South Beach

Hi, from chai tea. Where are you located? I have been trying to get JC to put back the veggie burger for a very long time. I gave them the web address and mailing address of LightLife Foods. With the 800 telephone number. I am on the JC Direct program. So, I have been telling my consultant about this many times over. I really feel that if we keep after them emails, letters, we can get this done.

I love the book Skinny B'tch. It is a blast. I have been a vegetarian for over thirteen years. And I love it the other book is Skinny B'tch in the Kitch.

Ummm, excuse me, but vegetarians do not profess their dislike for meat and speak of the welfare of animals then say, "....i'll just get by as best as i can for now and eat meat when i have to .." angry.gif

I've been a vegetarian for 30 years. That just isnt the way it works.

that's a shame. i would have never joined JC if i had known they had so very little veg*n options. my counselor was just horrid when i signed up last tuesday. when i told her i was veg*n for *MORALITY REASONS*, she told me to just "pick out the meat and throw it away."

okay, first of all, i wouldn't be getting the right amount of protein if i did this, which is damaging to my body.

second, that is WASTEFUL and totally counteracts the reason why i don't want to contribute to buying meat in the first place! why PURCHASE meat, and then THROW IT AWAY? the animal died for nothing then! omg, some people are just so ignorant!!!!!!!

needless to say, i switched centers. not only due to that, but everyone in that center was so clueless and so self-abosorbed and rushing everyone around, i just knew i'd get aggrevated sooner or later. they messed up my order (my FIRST DAY, mind you!!!), their credit card machine wasn't working right, i was rushed out of there, she didn't have all the booklets for me, she over charged me for items she didn't even give me!-- AND SHE WAS THE "MANAGER" of this center!!! argh!

anyway, sorry for the off-tangent rant, but i was just so disgusted with everything from their attitudes towards veg*ns, to their incompetence, that i nearly walked out of there without signing up. but, i'm still glad i did, because the program, itself, is spectacular and i am really doing well so far on it. even though there are few veg*n options, i figure i'll just get by as best as i can for now and eat meat when i have to and once i'm "off" their foods and have to start cooking for myself, i can transition back into my tofu and beans. smile.gif

This thread is really interesting to me because my center doesn't even offer veggie burgers as a menu option. I know Canada has some different menu options, but I assumed the menu is the same across the U.S. Am I incorrect?

I eat the same things every week - mac n cheese, various pizzas, lasagna, cheesy enchiladas, and penne pasta. Are these the same items ya'll have on your menus?

My center did not tell me when I joined TODAY that they are phasing out vegetarian options. Is this happening everywhere? Or just certain areas?

Yes, that is the same things that I eat. I get sooooo bored! The only thing I have found to help is to get really creative with your veggies. I make a ton of veggies and free soup on Sundays so I have it to eat all week.

Last week I made spaghetti squash with spicy tomato sauce and rosemary carrots. I also made a pot of free veggie soup. That really helps. Today I am grilling portabello mushrooms and stuffing with wilted baby spinach, and making a pot of tomato basil soup. I do get so tired of the same stuff over and over again!!

The veggie burger was discontinued a while back. Wish they still had it!!

I just joined Jenny. I was on Nutrisystem a year and a half ago and did well, but gained the weight back. I just couldn't face the same dishes that I had had before, so I decided to try Jenny. Unfortunately, the choices aren't really that much better for the dinners. Nutrisystem also has lasagna, pasta fagioli, cheese ravioli, mac and cheese, and various tiny pizzas that are all about the same (thick crust is pretty much thin crust to me). I wish all of these packaged portion control diets would include more variety for veggies. The pasta just really gets old!!! Also, it's hard to translate that into a real veggie meal when you go onto maintenance. I don't usually cook pasta for one, and I certainly don't do it every freakin' day of the week.

I had a potato today for lunch and that was yummy. I'm also psyched for some enchiladas tomorrow. I'm sorry I missed the veggie burger. Maybe they will hear our cries for more veggie choices.

I just joined JC today, (April 7, 2009) I was on LA Weight Loss for a year and a half and lost 90 lbs. They are gone and I have gained about half of the weight back. I liked LA because you used your own food and learned to eat in the real world. But I realize now that I need the personal support of seeing someone and being held accountable. I know that the food is not the best, but I am hoping that this will be the catalyst to get me going again. I am not looking forward to a diet of pasta and pizza. I really wish they used more meatless protien options.

I gave up trying to get them to bring back the Veggie Burger and Pasta Ola a long time ago. If you can find a health food store that sells Origional Sunshine Veggie Burgers, they are almost as good as JC Origional Veggie burgers. I defrost mine, fry with pam until brown, use 15 cal bread and 90 cal Kraft FF cheese and it is hm! hmmm! Good!!! tongue.gif

My consultant told me that Jenny Craig doesn't really worry that much about vegetarians, because their research shows that vegetarians don't join JC (except for us, I guess).

I think this is a self-fulfilling prophecy on their part. I think a lot of vegetarians don't consider JC because they don't know that there are vegetarian options -- JC has never advertised vegetarian options. And of course vegetarians won't join the program if they don't offer much choice or variety. I'm sure the vegetarian community would embrace JC if they offered a good vegetarian program and put a little effort into marketing it. It's very frustrating -- I'm a returning customer who WANTS to spend my money at JC. I don't understand how, in an economy like this, JC wouldn't try to get and retain as many customers as possible.
