Hey All you gardeners out there!
Last year was my very first year of planting a vegetable garden since I was a tiny kid helping my dad. It was pretty fun, and we got lots of tasty organic veggies to boot! Too bad the slugs destroyed all the cruciferous veggies Anyway, I thought I would plant another garden this year, and my husband only wants to plant things that did well last year.
This summer I am planning to plant about 24 tomato plants, 12 eggplant plants, 6 bell pepper plants, and 3 thai hot pepper plants. I will also plant several rows of green beans, spinach, beets, radish, peas, carrots, and a hill or two of cucumbers, zucchini, and maybe pumpkin. I dont really have enough sunny space to plant corn (tried last year, it was a flop).
I am also working on a perrennial cottage-style flower/herb garden, and also have a small wooded area with a gravel path where I am trying to grow different shade loving flowers this year.
So what do you all like to plant?
Best Regards,
Angela

I have a herb garden on my balcony.
Just a couple of planters with different herbs.
Of course, they are currently ice covered. But I heard spring is coming.

Not me! I see one insect and I freak!
Besides I am too spoiled with the buy, eat and run routein.
But I greatly admire people who do garden. I think that it is great!
It is a lot healthier to eat and from what I hear, very theraputic to garden.
When I was a kid, my Mom found an little inch worm on the lettuce that she was washing and it took me forever, before I ever ate lettuce again. LOL It is a mental thing with me.
But it is really great for anyone who can pull it off. Keep up the good work. Gardeners are a rare breed in this day and age.

Yes, yes, yes. I have a plot in our neighbourhood communal garden. This will be my 2nd year. I just love it. A word to the wise ... be careful how many zhuccinis and pumpkins you plant ... they take over the WORLD !!!!!
I had green beans, beets, carrots, peas, lettuce, onions and zhuccinis. It was fun to watch the grandkids mother their hallowe'en pumpkins. Of course we had zhuccini bread, muffins, stirfry.....had to watch those suckers as I hate to eat the overly huge ones. I just love the baby ones. My hubby always says I'm a cradle robber
Can't wait!!!! YUM

Hey everybody, thats great! Its nice to see other gardeners here, even if it is only a few pots of herbs I seem to have trouble with most potted plants, though my peppermint seems to do well enough...
Gotta love those zukes, huh? Last summer I must have eaten zucchini & tomato curry a million times! I'd give the recipe, but it could hardly be called low fat (tons of ghee & ground up cashews in the sauce). I also like quesadillas with zucchini added.
I only got 1 rather sad little pumpkin last year.
Here's hoping we have a great time gardening this year, and lots of tasty treats for our efforts!!!
Best Wishes,
Angela
