This post was inspired to me by what Steviesings posted in the "Get Inspired" Forum, under the post: "Body Cravings Do Change".
My Husband and I went away for a weekend and he wanted a no rules vacation. In other words, do anything and eat anything you want without the rules. He didn't want me to stick to my JC program for a few days, or to even think about it. So I agreed.
Well, the whole time that we were away, all that I wanted was my JC food. All I wanted to do was to stick to the program. But I didn't. So fast foods and junk food is what we ate and I didn't say anything to my Husband about it, but all I wanted was to stick to the program.
He never asks me to go off the program and he is always very supportive. Since it was the first time in 21 years that we went away alone together without the kids, I wanted to make him happy, so I did it for him.
"BUT!" I could not wait to get home to my JC food and get on the program again.
Fortunately, I kept taking my JC Multi Plus and Protect T supplements and we did a lot of walking and swimming together and I still showed a 2lb loss when I did return home. I told my Husband afterward how much I missed my JC food and sticking to the program and that from now on, no matter what we do or where we go, I am doing it the JC way.
I was very shocked myself. In the past whenever I would go off any diet I was very happy to do so and didn't want to get back get back on the diet again. But JC food is so delicious and sticking to it means feeling great about yourself and seeing great results too, it actually makes you want to stick with the program, once you get into a daily routine.
Thanks JC for reprograming us. You have made our lives better by doing so.

ykwcg,
Wow he wanted to eat "junk food". I find it hard to stick totally to my JC food when away, because vacation is kind of like permission to me to eat. So I do, but I can totaly understand your missing the JC food you know and enjoy. I usually only go off for a dinner meal and snacks. And the amazing thing is you still lost 2lbs.!!! walking and swimming but I bet you made some good food choices too. So be proud!!

Well, what we ate each day was pretty much the same.
For breakfast, we did order room service, but the Hotel, did not give us much of a selection. So what I had was and egg and cheese omelet, hash browns, toast, coffee and juice. (But you are right. I had to cut the meal in half and only eat half, because they gave me so much) Or rather, because I could not eat what I used to eat before, but had to use salt, in order to give it flavor.
When we usually go away, we usually only eat a big breakfast and a big dinner and snack in between.
For Dinner we went to an all you could eat buffet. I had very little salad, stuffing, pasta, pizza, muffin, taco and a few little assortment of different desserts.
In between meal snacks and night time snacking consisted of cheese doodles, potato chips, twizzlers (big bag) and the new big Kit Kat and sugar free wafers.
Once home at dinner time I figured I would end the none JC day with something that I hadn't had since JC and that is a cheese burger on onion flavored pita bread, the size of the pita bread and lots of cheese. Before JC, I loved every bite and ate every bite. After sticking to the JC veggie menu for several months, I could only eat half of the sandwich and I did not enjoy it. I kept thinking "I am eating an animal" And how greasy and fattening it tasted and for the first time in my life, I threw away what I did not eat. Which was a very good feeling.
I counted the vacation as wonderful. And the off JC experience a mistake that I have learned not to make again.
Don't get me wrong. I do have my ups and downs on the program. I am not perfect...but I usually try to be as perfect as I can be on the program.
Just think! If I had done all of that walking and swimming and stuck to the JC program, I could have had a 4lb loss in one week. Which is what I have always wanted on the program and have never been able to pull it off. The closest that I have been able to come to is 3.6 in one week and that was the first week that I started. Haven't gotten close to that since.
All in all, I chalk it up to a very good, useful, learning experience for myself.

Isnt' it funny when we go where we think we want to be. I've been noticing quite a few people posting here think that being on a controlled diet is prison and they can't wait to be sprung.
I was very motivated while I did the program and I can say I didn't cheat once. I lost every week with the exception of one week and that was female related (I gained 1 pound). I loved the convenience of the food and the satifaction that I was exactly "on" without having to stress out during food prep, shopping etc.
Funnily enough after being off program and on maintenance since June 24 I can honestly say that I still miss my Little Boxes. I read all the wonderful things that are part of the fall new line and I can honestly say I'm jealous that I won't be having some of those. As I don't need to have Jenny Food anymore I can't justify the extra cost.
Talk about reverse envy.
So guys, chow down on your Cheesy Enchiladas and your new cereal. Enjoy, enjoy.
This is a wonderful plan and it does work. There are more and more people crossing the finish line and they are still here to post. Check out the Maintenance Winners. Just that fact is proof positive that you can break the diet cycle and lose weight. The best part is if you learn your lessons well the weight does stay off.
