Hear that Paul McCarthy and his new Bride had a Vegetarian Wedding Reception. Wish I could have been a fly on the wall. LOL That is so neat! Most of my friends are vegetarians, but I have never been to a Vegetarian Wedding Reception. Has anyone else?

Be at one, I had one! It was great, and the meat eaters didn't complain either. I just wish I was able to sit and enjoy it more, but I was on stage, so to speak.

Sounds exciting. Can you tell us all about it? Like what was served? Etc. So it was at your wedding? How were you sort to speak on stag? Like was it because you were the Bride? Sounds really great! Was it catered or homemade? How long ago was it? Did the Groom enjoy it too?

Rob & I were married in September of 1997 (almost five years ago :eek . Our ceremony and reception were at a colonial era inn in Sturbridge, MA. We had a buffet with three main dishes-I remember tortellini, a white lasagna, and some sort of vegetable pastry, like phyllo or puff pastry. There were also lots of delicious veggie sides, some traditional New England, some not so traditional. The only things that were not vegetarian were the baked beans, which New Englanders have a terrible time making without salt pork. If we were Muslim or kosher Jewish, we could have sued! I had filled a hefty pre-Jenny plate and was enjoying myself thoroughly in spite of being corseted to within an inch of losing my internal organs. Then I was called away to meet & greet some of Rob's relatives who were arriving late or leaving early or something, and when I came back, my plate had been cleared! What a jyp! we had about 90 guests, probably 85 of whom were avowed carnivores, and everybody seemed very happy with the meal, and also the free beer and wine (ka- ching)! We had to save for two years to do it, but we did it our way and had a heckuva party.

Way to go Dee Dee!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful occasion with us. Never heard of white lasagna and I am Italian. LOL I guess that is made without meat and that is why it is called white lasagna? Sounds delicious!
I guess we are going to have to start doing something new at weddings, like they do at the restaurant "Sweet Tomatoes". Have little cards to put by our plates saying. "I'LL BE BACK!" That is so that they do not remove our plates of food when we walk away from the table for a moment.
Maybe now that we are starting the new Millennium, more and more people will be having Vegetarian Weddings.

White lasagna is made with a bechamel sauce instead of tomato, and generally has more veggies layered in than your average lasagna. It's generally very rich! Out here (CA)we have Souplantation and Fresh Choice that sound like your Sweet Tomatoes. Mile long salad bar, soups, pastas, and fresh bread/muffins? They have those "Ill be back" tags too. I haven't been to one in a while. I have a problem with the concept of unlimited bread products !

BTW, Connie, Linda McCartney (Paul's 1st wife) was supposed to be an amazing vegetarian cook. Very creative, especially with meat analogs. She used to have her own frozen food line, and wrote at least two cookbooks, I believe. I'm pretty sure they're still in print I don't personally have them, but they did reprint some of her recipes in Vegetarian Times.

I know, she was amazing. I will have to check it out. Being new as a vegetarian, I can use all the help I can get.
What does BTW mean? Back To Work?

By the Way BTW

Oh! Of course! LOL Why didn't I think of that? That is too funny. I couldn't even imagine what it meant. LOL
Thanks!
