Hi Lisa, I find the food to be very tasty. Most of the lunches and dinners are frozen, some are shelf stable. there is a wide variety of foods and snacks. I never tried N/S but I've read and heard that the JC food is a little better. You can find prices on this link http://216.90.130.69/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimateb...c&f=59&t=000343

I'm starting my 5th week, and I cannot say enough good things about JC! I was so skeptical in the beginning because I was never too fond of packaged or processed foods, but this stuff is really good. So far I've lost over 11 lbs, and gained so much more!

The cost is going to be more than NutriSystem, but the food is not just a little bit better, it is a LOT better.
How much you pay for it depends upon the program level you sign up for. Which program is right for you depends upon how much you have to lose, and whether you have struggled with weight maintenance in the past.
If you have a history of yoyoing, and if you have more than 10-20 pounds to lose, you will probably be better off with a full membership, and the Rewards plan. It is designed for those who have a lot to lose, and includes maintenance guidance and support.
It also qualifies you for discounts on your food purchases. Your first 10 weeks on Rewards, you get a 10% discount on your food purchases. The second 10 weeks, you get 20%, and the third 10 weeks and every week thereafter (until you reach goal), you get a 30% discount on the food. After you reach goal and begin maintenance, you get a 35% discount on food purchases. For just $39 a year, you can renew and keep your discount level active. If you let it lapse at the end of the first year without renewing, you will have a renewal fee (I'm not sure, but I think the renewal fee if you let it lapse is $99), and you will have to start over with the discount levels, at 10%.
If you do let it lapse, and the renewal fee is $99, you will have saved enough to pay for the renewal before the first 10 weeks have passed.
I have kept my Rewards membership active for a few years now, even when I was maintaining and not going to the center for consultations. I consider it a worthwhile "insurance policy" for weight management. Now that I have returned to the center to lose more weight, my 30% discount level is still active.
Depending upon your food choices (some entrées cost more than others), you can expect to save about $12 a week at the 10% discount, to about $36 a week by the time you get to the 30% discount level. By the time you reach the 30% discount level, the amount of savings on food will have already paid for the full membership joining fees.
The introductory programs do not give you any discounts on food.
The introductory programs are designed to be fairly short term, and if you have more than 20 pounds to lose, you will be encouraged to commit to a longer-term membership.
For me, my Platinum membership has been worth its weight in gold. This is the first time in my life that I have been able to lose weight and keep it off for an extended period of time.

I've done both and think the JC food is much better, espeially now that N/S is all mailed...and the cost difference is minor.

I was thinking about this today. How come I couldn't even get serious with NS? The bad food was the biggest part of it, but I felt I was all alone, on my own, and I couldn't get excited about it. I know there is an 800# - I did call this a couple of times, and I thought it was lousy. I know I could have done better myself and I didn't know anything about it.
I really look forward to the interaction of my JCC, the center, this board, it is awesome! I FEEL part of something, (even bought the JC story -very good), but on NS- I just felt that I was just another food subscriber.

The food really is good. My husband is not doing the program, but has been curious and tried some of the foods. He has liked them also and said he would not have a problem eating them every day.

The food is actually much better than I ever thought it would be. I love the lemon cake!!! The turkey burger is fantastic... neverliked it before but love it now. I've only done a week & 2 days so far but am very encouraged. Hardest part will be the walking as I sit all day, sometimes up to 11 hrs.
