I am hoping that some of you will come here and read this!!!! Give yourself 10 minutes to a half hour tonight to get some exercise in. I am going to come back later tonight to tell you what I did for activities and I hope I will have all of you saying what you did too...Maybe we can all motivate each other.... check in with each other and help each other... I notice many of you are here at night so it would be a perfect check in time...Let me know if any of you think this is a good idea. I know I will feel better saying that I did do something.

I walked on a treadmill for half and hour and then worked out with my personal trainer for an hour. I did upper body and situps mostly this time (we did lower body on Monday.) It was fab!

I'd love to join you but if it's OK I'll start in the AM, that's when I do my Leslie Sansone 30min Brisk Walk tape. I like this thread very much. Thanks. For me it's a little accountability which I really need since I'm not very disciplined. I hope to post every day so I won't disappoint you.

I walk quite a bit all day at work. I come home, drink water and do 15-20 mins. on the Total Gym at least 3-4 days a week..I have a bad knee and a bad shoulder which is not great for a chronic exercise routine..But...at least 5 nights a week I walk for an hour.

I decided that I "deserve" to treat myself to 45 minutes not just 30 minutes a day of exercise.
I did 45 minutes on my eliptical machine and then after dinner tonight my fiance and I went to the mall. He walks so slow "strolling around" but I thought hey I'm not eating and we are enjoying this together!
I like this idea....

Thanks for doing this. I walk 2 miles a day while my son is doing football practice. I walk the track at the high school. Then 3 days a week I do 20 minutes on my AB Lounge. I will like the way I feel after the walking. Sometimes if I still have energy I go to the supermarket or WalMart and walk around there for 30 minutes.

The board has been down and I could not update. Saturday had a party and did a lot of running around in and out of the house all day and night. (I stayed on my program through the whole party). Sunday I rode my bike 3 miles 15 minutes. Today (Monday) I rode my bike 3 miles in 16 minutes. Did toning weights for my arms for 5 minutes. I also had my 1st weigh in on Saturday and I lost 11.2 pounds!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh, exercise. I miss it!
I thought it was time to take my exercise to the next level and add in weight training. My son is on the wrestling team and he works out several times a week with his weights. He offered to help me.
Let me tell you, there is a big difference between what a sixteen yr old boy can lift after two years on the wrestling team and what a 36 yr old over weight woman can lift.
He had me lifting 25 and 35 lb weights. I've been down for three days now. I can barely walk my legs hurt so much. I told him it was too much weight to start off with but he had this macho 'come on, push it to the limit!' thing going on telling me I could handle it. Apparently not...
So listen to your inner voice. Don't let yourself feel embarassed because some twirp says you can do more and you don't want to. Listen to yourself, you're probably right more often than you give yourself credit for!
Advil.....
I miss my walking. It's going to be a bad week all because of one mistake with good intentions!

LOL! Well, ok it's that funny. I feel your pain. My trainer will say that you don't necessary have to hurt after just starting back w/ lifting weights. My upper body WO w/ my trainer went ok as I felt it but not unbearable w/in 24-48 hrs when you really feel it. Now as for my lower body I was limping a 'lil up & down stairs as I knew I would. Keep it up BUT I agree the weights I'm sure were too HEAVY for you ...you don't want to harm yourself. I'm sure your son does not either but he may not know better. If you can invest in a few sessions in weight training and log what you do so you can then take it on your own it would be worth it! Good Luck!
Lilly38-This is a fabulous idea...due to the boards being down for me I have been unable to post to your thread...but you did inspire me and helped make me accountable for what I do with my time now ...I thank you so much for that...I have done a few things
1) I started a log book to keep track of all the exercise I do, accomplishments I make, and notes on the day in general.
2) I have walked everyday this week (except for yesterday .) I feel great about myself
3) I got a pedometer and have been keeping track of the steps that I have been taking everyday. It really has made me want to do more so I can have more steps and more calories burned at the end of the day.
So again, thank you ...this was great idea and I will keep you posted on what I am doing (going to do one of the walk fit videos that I got from JC, they rock!! 2 mile walk here I come!)

I could not wait for the board to be back up too!!!
Dori.. I am sure you will still do fine at WI tomorrow. One BBQ should not discourage you. Just accept it and get back on track. Feeling good about yourself is the best part of this whole program. Keep it up I am looking forward to your WI results. Shogo... I love the way you call your son a twerp. lol.. too funny.. You pushed it way too hard. Keeping up with a 16 year old wrestler is hard to do. I just love the way he is encouraging you to do this. This will not be a bad week!!!Please do not tell yourself negative thoughts. They hurt you more than you know. Beachcookie.. great advice!! Zia ... Great POEM!! I am so happy this inspires you. I know I feel accountable now too. I feel like .."ok I have started this thread... I can't let myself down or any of you down... I need to stay motivated to be able to come here and say I did my work out" Thanks for all of you who are posting here.
My goal is to be able to run again. (atleast 2 miles) I can't wait for the day I can come here and tell you that!!!!!
I am going to do work around the yard (a lot of walking) for my exercise tonight.
I hope you all Have a great day tomorrow and remember to stay MOTIVATED!!!

I am going to need help staying motivated with my workouts now that the boys are back in school. I am not going to make "work out excuses." I am going to fit it in and I am going to need all of you to help me do that. When you all tell me what you did for a work out it motivates me to want to do it and make time for it.

Lily, thanks for your interest. I only lost .8lbs in 6 days, but it made me more determined to get in my Leslie Sansone tape today even though it was late afternoon before I could get to it, and usually before this, I could never exercise late in the day. In the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to be able to post to this thread tonight. Thanks so much! You're really helping.

Dori.. You still lost .8!!!! You should be happy with any weight LOST!! I think you are doing a great job!! I also see 6 1/2 inches is gone from your body!!! You should be happy you did not gain. Focus on the positive steps you are taking and do not look at the negative side of things. I am also a negative thinker when it comes to myself ( I am trying to change that) I read somewhere that you should treat yourself as you would treat a friend. Congrats on .8 lost!! I bet next week will be even more! theaterjunkie76 .... Keep going!!! 2 miles is a great routine to get into to.
I am off to work!!! tonight is my 1st night back to homework with the boys. 5-7 and then I plan on getting my work out in after 7:00 and I will be back to see how everyones day went!!
I hope you all have a great day and today I am going to start looking on the positive side of my life!!! I hope you all do the same!
OK well I am posting today...I didn't "workout" in the traditional sense yesterday...but I did get quite a bit of cardio in ...so today (as soon as I am done here) I am going to go and workout ...I feel bad for not posting yesterday...so I keeping to my promise and holding myself accountable...so I shall return with and update to what my workout consisted of

Did my 30min Leslie Sansone brisk walk, strength training with 1lb weights, and also did some Yoga positions that I saw in my Prevention magazine that came yesterday. Looked easy, but it's really a good workout on its own. I will try to incorporate it into my exercise program from now on. I am also going to try to use 2lb weights. I know this is an excuse but my 2 boys went back to school on wednesday and I have been working all day and doing paper work at night and yes HOMEWORK!!! I am here posting and I should be riding my bike. With that said I have no excuse tomorrow and thiw weekend I will plan on scheduling my work out like I would schedule a meeting.

I know you don't want me to excuse you, but I can't imagine how hard it is for you gals with young families to make any time for yourselves. I just have my DH who is somewhat disabled to care for,and I find it hard to get any time for myself. But we must do this so we can be healthy for our families. Right?
Hi ladies...sorry I didn't get back on last night but I did workout and it felt so good
1st- I did the 30 min 2 mile walk (walk your way video)
2nd- I did the 20 min toning session and I tried upgrading to 3lbs weights (felt that one LOL) (walk you way video)
3rd- I did the 15 yoga stretching section (walk your way video)
I worked up and awesome sweat and I felt so great afterwards...gonna try again today after work
Lilly38 - Hey don't knock yourself for not doing something every night...on the days I miss I use my pedometer and count the steps that I have taken...It's amazing the calories you burn from that alone. Make a plan to do at least the 20 min walk 3 times a week ...I will help motivate you anyway I can You can do it...even if you can only workout on weekends...something is better than nothing right?
Dori12 - Hats off you...your situation is just as hard as us with kids...it is hard sometimes to find time to take care of yourself...us girls need to stick together and help motivate each other...I got your backs if you got mine

Lilly38 - Girl you can do it ...you are such at great motivation for me ...I am so glad that you started this thread (I know that I have said that a hundred times already lol)...
I did my workout for today:
1st I did the 30 minuted 2 mile walk again (Walk your way video)
2nd I did the 20 minute 1 1/2 mile walk with strength training.
So 3 1/2 miles...50 minutes...and 3 lb weights.
Gotta keep going...I wish I could send you and Dori12 some of the extra time I have so you guys could find it easier to workout...I really wish that I had someone to workout with
Well WI is tomorrow at noon...hope all this did something

Hi, Lily and all my buddies, I've been doing my walking tape EVERY DAY this week, thanks to this thread. It's hard to believe that just this accountability did the trick for me. I've got to change one thing, though. Since I'm retired, one of my pleasures is to read the morning paper with my coffee, and that's long enough to make me "lazy". SO, I'm promising to exercise first and then save my daily news for later. How's that?? Glad we're all here.

Just did 30 min walking tape. Feel good and ready for a shower. Lilly, you did a great routine, congrats.
Hi Lilly38 and everyone ...Well Lilly38 I did my weight in and was kinda disappointed with only a loss of .9 lbs...I know that a loss is a loss but I was still bummed until my JCC asked if I wanted to do my measurments even though it was way early (I mentioned that I wanted to know if my clothes were lying to me since they seemed to fit better)...I got my confidence back...I was down a total of 7 1/2 inches in 2 weeks -2 in. in my waist, - 3 1/2 in. in my ab area, and - 2 in. in my hips!!!...I feel much better now that I know the even though I didn't lose a lot of pounds (yet)...the inches are coming off
Felt so good after yesterdays WI...hubby and I went and played tennis for an hour and had so much fun...I never felt so good running around exercising
Great Job on exercising this morning Lilly

Hi Ladies, did my 30min walking tape (before my morning newspaper), now with 2lb weights. It really felt good to know I've progressed from 1lb. I've observed that with steady exercise it doesn't take too long to see progress. I can see that in the near future I'm going to have to challenge myself further. I'm looking into Biggest Loser tape. Does anyone have opinions on that or any other tape which might give me a "little" more workout?
