When I did my measurements (I'm on JENNY DIRECT) in prep for starting my program Friday, I found that my lower body had reshaped itself in a GOOOOOD way!
My panty area is where my body prefers to store my extra weight first and lose it last ... so I was delighted to find that even though I was back to no less weight than I had been from October 2004 to November 2006, I now can wear a size 11 panty instead of a size 12! WOOOO HOOOO
I had a chance Saturday to shop for my favorite panties ... what a boost to be able to fit just fine, no binding at all, into a full size smaller!
What rewards, tangible or intangible, are you discovering? What rewards, tangible or intangible are you giving yoursel as you work your program?

Hi Sunny from Sunni,
Congrats on reshaping and I love buying new under things but I haven't for awhile because I hated my size. I was thinking today that when I have lost 20 lbs I am going to go and buy some new panties.
But As for long term rewards.
When I have been on JC for 1 month I am going to have a pedicure.
When I am under 200 lbs I am going in for a full spa day, facial, massage the works.
But what I did do is figure out how much I have to lose and divide it by 10. It worked out to just a little under 15 lbs, so for each 15 lbs I lose I am going to do something special for myself..
For 30 lbs my husband said we could go look for an exercise bike for me.

Oooh, I like the spa day idea! I think I'll do the same, when I reach Onederland.
Here are some rewards I've been planning/using:
-I promised myself a massage after I've been on JC for a month.
-I buy myself a magazine (like Oprah) when I'm wanting to buy candy or ice cream.
-I haven't restarted exercise yet, but when I exercised before, I'd give myself a foot massage as a reward on days that I exercised.

great rewards, guys! I'm so proud of you for having your rewards in mind!
Thank you for posting because ...
--I finally called yesterday to find out whether the whole-body massages I purchased as a set of 6 ever expire. There was a period when I needed to go once a week and these are left over. This was a call that I kept telling myself was "low" on my priority list. So you got me to wake up and smell the coffee ... uh, I mean see the reward lol
--I too use magazines as rewards but did not think of using them as substitutions when I am emotionally craving the comfort of food. Monkey see, monkey do. Yesterday when I had been out a while, I was reeeeally craving a ____(I don't like to post about specifics of foods because it does trigger others sometimes). Instead, I went to a nice sit-down bookstore that has every magazine imaginable, including foreign ones, and I got absorbed in browsing and enjoying ... and my emotional craving subsided. I bought myself a magazine as my reward for working my program; now, I'm going to use getting to read in that magazine as a reward when I'm home and get a craving.
Then I will pass on the magazine (because i keep only 3-5 magazines in my house at any one time) ... so the whole world is benefiting because you shared your magazine reward!

i also love the divide the weight by 10 thing...mine would be every 9 pounds, which is such a great, odd number & will totally confuse people when i'm at the spa & they ask me if this is any special occasion and i'll reply "yes i've reached my 81 lb goal!"

Wow you guys have me thinking.
I know I love magazines especially craft ones.
But I always flip through them and put them back. I think I will add those to my list of something special to replace stops at Starbucks or stops for other goodies I like. It won't cost anymore than that did and it will be a better use of my money.

Another reward I'm experiencing in my Jenny experience is enjoying having so much "prep" work done for me. It's a big deal for me due to not being able to use my hands and arms well. Having food brought to my door (on Jenny Direct) saves strain and pain. Having 2 weeks worth at a time brought to me means I am less likely to be caught short and then push through the pain to grocery shop or make do for several days, which I *thought* wasn't a big deal but now am experiencing was much more stress than I had realized. I feel so "cared for" to have *abundant* high-quality entrees on hand EVERY day, not just when I am in less pain.
This week when I can tell that my stress and adrenaline are up, it's soothing and calming for me to be able to not have to deal with food prep except for my beverages and "sides." My life feels easier.
When I grocery shop, I have more time to browse in the produce section -- something I always enjoy but usually have to press on before pain starts up.

For each 10 lbs, my DH gives me a full body massage. Then he leaves the room and I sleep like a baby for about 1/2 hour. He's really good at it!
If I could travel anywhere in the world? Tough choices!
Alaska - Kenai Peninsula
New England
Carolinas - Outer Banks
Then, maybe the Yucatan.

Oh who would I spend time with..that is so easy for me.
I would spend time with my family in Florida.
I am so far away from them.
But it would be the perfect setting. Siesta Key , Florida and everyone together in cottages near the beach. Shopping in the village and long walks in the moonlight with my wonderful husband along the beach. There is nothing that would be a bigger treat for me.
But... If I could go anywhere in the world after that..
Alaska, Hawaii, and Up along the coast of Maine and also along the coast of Washington state.. can you tell I am a water person????

Sunny2020
Aug 9 2007, 04:25 PM
hi ramseyfan ...sorry to have to tell ya ... ticker software and the message board's software will not work together for your ticker to appear in the signature section. You have to paste in the HTML code for your ticker to the BODY of the message each time you want it to appear.
(figured out on my own and then has been confirmed by others here ... but let me know if ya find a way heh heh heh)

Can I tell you my "reward"... I am "paying" myself $5.00 for each lb. lost, (I am worth it), after I lose my total weight, I am going to splurge on something really special for me, Have several ideas in mind, not too sure what yet, "Coach" purse, jewerly, makeover, a very nice outfit, a weekend away etc.
My dh, has told me when I get to my goal weight, he is going to buy me a Lincoln suv, the new one that just came out.
(That is great motivation)
I do reward my self on the way to my goal, that is what keeps motivation alive.

Chrisi ... you asked: Okay, now Sunny...how do I take the measurements of my waist...is waist above the belly button and abdomen at or below the belly button? Confused on this one...thanks!
The waist measurement (at least on my body) has always been (even when I was my totally ideal weight and was totally fit and toned), right over the top edge of my navel/belly button.
In other words, the bottom of the tape measure as it goes around me will touch or cover the top of my navel/belly buttom. Just how I'm built: shorter than average from shoulder to waist even for people my height (5'3").
I suggest: when you wear something with a defined waist: panties that are designed to be at your waist (i.e., not hip hugger style), slacks, skirt, dress with a definite waist as part of the style ... where does the waist of the clothes hit you in the clothes you feel FIT *YOU* RIGHT? That is what I would suggest to measure.
And, if anyone wonders why in the wooooorld would I care where I measure myy waist on my Big Beautiful Self given that right now my measurement on my own self is the same at, above, and below my navel, here's why I care: as I lose INCHES (whether I lose that many pounds or not), I will continue to measure my waist based on where my navel is located; so it makes it easier for me to measure now exactly where my waist LATER will naturally curve in.
Hope this helps all fellow JENNY DIRECT guys and gals!

Love that "Coach" handbag reward: surely does work for me!!!!
Now, tell me what a Lincoln saw is.
very interested look from Sunny who is very mechanically inclined but hasn't had reason to use a saw of any kind -- home, yard, crafts -- for the past 40 years since I graduated from college and moved out and thereby lost my position as my father's chief assistant in doing things such as periodically replacing the wooden floor on the big porch, replacing the wooden steps at front and back of house, etc.

Um, I have about 90 more to lose, just in case your DH was feeling extra generous, I'd love a convertible
In the mean time, I am just waiting to give my fat clothes to salvation army. That will be a reward (well, and buying new, smaller clothes!)
Yeah, a convertible.....I could totally have a sugar daddy!

You know what's weird? I just had this conversation with a consultant at my center. He wasn't my consultant but very nice indeed. I said I couldn't wait to reach my 10 lb goal because I wanted to go to Outback and have a small steak with steamed veggies to celebrate.
I LOVE steak. Prior to Jenny I could live off meat and nothing else. Ok maybe Tastey Cakes but you know what I'm saying.
I wasn't talking about going out of control but I haven't gone 'out' to eat since starting 4 weeks ago. We used to go out 3-4 times a week or at least order in.
This consultant told me I should never pick food as a reward. My heart sank. I was actually sad because I was so looking forward to this and really kept myself on track with this goal in mind (except for my birthday but we'll forget about that as a lesson learned). What's worse is I have to drive past an Outback to get to my center every week. Ugh...
Back to the drawing board on reward suggestions....

I totally forgot, congratulations on your re-shaping!
I couldn't believe my measurements. My weight loss wasn't what I had hoped for so I thought my measurements would be the same. Apparently I was wrong.
It's such a great feeling. I would suggest as a reward you go buy yourself some new under garments of your choice! If you want, buy one a size smaller and hang it up on your closet to give you motivation for your next re-shaping!
Keep up the good work.

Hi Shogo Great to see you again! HAPPY FOR YOU TOO THAT YOU HAVE *NEW* MEASUREMENTS!!! And thank you for mentioning my new measurements; I am soooo enjoying every time I put on a pair of my new panties!
On the subject of food as a reward: Yes, I know the "party line" ... but I'm sorry!!! I am in this to practice living as I hope to live for the rest of my life; maintenance for me began on Day 1. When *I* choose to reward myself with an Outback steak, I will be wishing you could be there with me celebrating that *we* get to decide what works or doesn't for *each* of us as we are. "Progress not perfection." Perfection is what has sabotaged my life more than almost anything else, especially when it comes to weight management.
Not telling anyone else what to do ... but assuring you that I know from losing weight and maintaining the loss for years that *I* can if I want to reward myself with an Outback steak. For pity's sake!!!
Plus, I get my back up any time someone starts with the "should's" ... know what I mean?
Off my soapbox now ...

one of my goals: lose no more than 3 lbs. per month; I *know* from past experience I can keep that rate of loss off for a year or more. Any faster than that, and I'm "at risk." ... 1800 calories a day -- because IF I can reach 180 lbs., then I can maintain 180 on eating 1800 a day even if I were bedridden.
Sunny2020
Aug 10 2007, 06:12 AM
Shogo ... noting that you have 180 as your goal ... that is as low as I believe I can ever maintain (based of lots of personal factors) -- would you be willing for me to check in with you now and then as we go along? I'm focused on this day, this hour .. but I do have a dream. Yet, I was in my 40's the last time I weighed that ... and 250 has been my *happiest* weight ever and I maintained it for years. But now, I need to lose at least 10% of my happiest weight (250) and I get all jittery: excited but scared when I think about continuing on past 225 (the 10% loss). But I want to. I want to dare to go for 180. No obligation; just wondered if we could check in now and then ... and since both of us post, I'm sure we'll have a chance that way by chance. Thanks for considering it.

Sunny, you can check in whenever you want.
I'll be honest with you, I had such a weird perception of things when I first signed up. Being in the slightly larger category than most and knowing how horrible my eating habits were before signing up I though, no I just knew I was going to lose like 10 lbs my first week. Yeah, reality set in quickly on that one.
I am determined to lose my 1.4 lbs for this week though. I think it's a reasonable goal. Now I'm working out like a maniac to make sure I hit it! Ten down, 60 more to go... But 60 sounds WAY better than 70.
I do share your sentiments on your other response as well. I actually only do Jenny 5 days a week and my own thing 2 days a week. By no means do I gorge or 'cheat' on those two days but I am learning to eat more sensibly, just a little bit at a time. It allows me to have dinner with my family at least once a week if not two and I just eat a smaller portion or prepare mine slightly differently.
You can yell over to me whenever you wish. I respond quicker to emails as I don't always have time to read the boards or when I do I don't have time to read entire threads or every single thread. Oye!

Friday, I rewarded myself with 10 for $10 bottles of Dasani Plus water. Now to fully understand the IMMENSE VALUE of that reward to me, you have to take into account ....
I've always drunk a lot of water because I like water. But my tap water is just fine: tastes good and doesn't disturb my digestive tract. (I realize your mileage may vary.) So I feel a little insulted lol that anyone thinks I am going to pay good money for water in a bottle when I already have water and I already have a bottle! lol
So in all the years that bottled water has been sold in the U. S., I have rarely bought it.
Then came the lovely bottle (I adore pretty things) with the tropical paradise and the bottle looked to me as if the water were the ocean ... and I am passionate about the ocean. So I would buy *one* bottle of Fiji water and refill with water from my tap. And after many refills (I treat my bottles rough), I would let that bottle go and go back to my more durable bottle for water from the tap.
In a year, I'd buy maybe 4 bottles of water as a treat for myself.
When I was losing my 17 lbs. on my own from May-July, part of my strategy was that I could buy all the bottled water I wanted to. I could be in my home and walk right past the kitchen faucet and get a new bottle of water (from the store) as often as I wanted to.
When I called Jenny, I improved on my strategy: If I am spending money on Jenny's food, then I am not going to have just ANY ol' bottled water, I am going to search out and find the brands and flavors that taste THE very best to me! I am going to search out and find the bottles that fit my nerve-damaged hands the best! I am going to search out and find the bottles that are the most pleasing to my eye. ALL OF THAT will keep my motivation strong and will keep my mind on things other than food.
I HAVE A MISSION: FIND THE BOTTLED WATERS THAT ARE WORTHY OF MY TOP 10 LIST!
Oh yes, I am working to lose weight, but you know what? I barely think about that because I HAVE A MISSION! lol
Those 10 bottles of Dasani Plus for $10 Mmmmmmmmmmm right there in the aisle where I found them, I nearly had an o ... ummm ... you get the idea.
MAJOR reward!

I bought the CD album
"Why Not Today" by Eric Dodge as one of my weekly rewards. (It's available at

Surely does help me to listen to a song called "Why Not Today" when I feel like waiting till later to start making a change or waiting till later to take another babystep to continue on with a change for the better.
SELECTED PHRASES FROM THE SONG, "WHY NOT TODAY" - ERIC DODGE
I was hoping some magical moment would come rescue me.
I'll just begin.
Why not today while my heart is ready?
I'm ready; I'm willing; I'm able; I'm learning to fly.
The past is behind me; tomorrow can't find me till I live today.
