I just re-read the starting post for BACK ON TRACK...I'm on Week 7 but having Week 8 issues. LOL What does NSV stand for? I'm currently reading Dr. Phil's Life Strategies. It's interesting. I've also been reading Anne Lamott's Grace Eventually. It's also good but I haven't CLICKED with it yet. If any of you have an inspirational book rec I'd love to read it! I need a book right now to "take me away" if you know what I mean. So come on all you readers and thinkers out there. Help me out!!

Be sure you read Anne Lamott's chapter where she binges and has to face her food demons...it's so powerful. She ends up calling friends for help and support...I xeroxed it and put it in my diet notebook.

I did read that chapter and it was powerful. CE do you have any other self-help motivational books to rec? Your posts always show great insight to me and I'd be curious what else is in your "storehouse" of wisdom!!

NSV stands for "non-scale victory" for example if you go to a birthday party and everybody is eating cake, icecream, etc and you don't have any then you had a NSV.

Don't know about "wisdom" per se, but two books that have been really helpful to me with this weight loss journal are "The Beck Diet Solution" and "The Thin Commandments"...lots of insight into how to make this plan be more effective...both are completely compatible with JC philosophy & I found both at my library.
I did go ahead a get a copy of TTC from Amazon & xeroxed some pages from TBDS - including her weight loss chart which celebrates EVERY .5 lb lost!!

That Dr. Phil book is really good, if you read around his suggestions for HIS diet. I have quite a few of his quotes highlighted for future reference.
Another book that someone suggested on another board is "The Secret." So far I'm finding it really helpful.
If you want a DVD, I totally recommend getting the "Touchstones For Success" set. I watched it, and it literally brought me to tears.
The "28 To Motivate" CD is a good pick-me-up too, when you only have a minute or two in the car.
I'm at 10 weeks, and I seem to have hit a mental road block. I'm hoping to take some time for me over the next few days to regroup. I can't, and won't quit. Not now.

Take "quit" right out of your vocabulary, LK!! You are doing AMAZING! Keep going you've had great losses and you've made so much progress. I'm cheering for you. Take a mental breather and regroup and get yourself fired up again. You definitely deserve it.

I liked The Beck Diet Solution too. I didn't do all the exercises but some of the things in there really helped me, like writing on the card all the reasons to lose weight. I review that often. Also read The Secret recently and although I've read many other similar books on that subject, Loved it!

I haven't read any of the 'self help' books exactly but if you're in the mood for a good read that turns out to be a self help book in the end I highly recommend Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.
It's a great story so you don't feel like you're reading an instructional or motivational manual but the lessons in it are equally as important I think. You finish the book and you realize that you get nothing you don't earn, good or bad and everything worth having is worth fighting for.
I think it's a good break from the motivational yet keeps you on that motivational treadmill never missing a step. Especially if you're reading two books at a time.
