I'm a new 1st time member; started 5-14-07. Nearing the end of my 3rd week and doing pretty well with 5.5 lbs lost. Having some difficulity staying with the program when there are Birthday dinner celebrations, opportunities to go out to eat, movies, etc. If I just stay home with no temptations, I'm fine. I'm turning into a recluse!!

HI! Don't be discouraged! any loss is great.
This is just my opinion and its worked for me, thus far-I just completed my 4th week...you can go to the movies, bring veggie's or your JC snack. Birthday parties, eat sensible...no cake! We eat once a week at my parents house and I bring my JC meal there. I figure if I'm going to do this, I need to commit, esp since I'm paying a lot of $$! So hang in there, don't get discouraged. Make this your week to do it! You can!!!!

Thin, I know how hard it can be with social situations where there is food. I have at least 2 - 3 situations per week like that. I recently went to an ad-hoc bridal shower that (gasp!) took place at a pizza joint. I had to sit there with my diet soda while everyone else ate ooey-gooey pizza slices. I try to either commit to not eating at all or making sure there will be at least some fresh fruit or veggies there to nibble on. One thing that works ok for me is that I don't look at the food. I keep my eyes focused on other things and that seems to help. Best of luck to you, you can do it!!!

Yesterday I had a hair appt in a small town outside of where I live (my hairdresser relocated)...well, it took longer than I bargained for, from 11-2...I had brought a bar and a bottle of water...wolfed that down while I was processing...
Left there & drove to Wal-Mart for fruit/veggies...walk in and there is the HUGEST CAKE I've ever seen being generously sliced and distributed...I could taste it (it hasn't been that long....I'm in my 5th week)...I just detoured, got my stuff & treated myself to some 100 calorie ice cream bars...drove home, ate my preplanned lunch, big salad & one of the bars! It was a treat...I was still on program!
It's hard to say "NO" but definitely worth it. Hang in there...we'll get to the point where this is easier and doesn't take so much mental work!
