Wow Kim, sorry you are down about not losing. Are you following the JC food plan? Do you have a councilor you can talk too? Drinking lots of water? excercizing? I am still on my first week only eating JC food and seem to be doing good.

Kim,
I can tell you that JC definitely works because I've lost 35 pounds so far and I've only been on the plan since Jan. 2, 2007.
One of the ladies who started with me has been losing slowly. Then about a week ago she got under 300 pounds and her JCC moved her from the 1700 calorie plan to the 1500 calorie plan and all of a sudden she lost 4 pounds in a week! In her case, the number of calories she burns must be around 1700 per day, so lowering her caloric intake caused her to start losing more rapidly. Here's why :
I started at 225 on the 1500 calorie plan. I burn 1900 calories per day just walking around and having a normal day (no special exercise.)

1900 calories burned - 1500 calories consumed = 400 extra calories burned per day.
400 calories burned * 7 days = 2800 calories.
To lose 1 pound, you have to burn 3500 calories. So I add to my calories burned by doing my daily workouts. When I started, I burned 500 calories per day:
500 * 5 days per week = 2500
I add the calories burned per week from my workout to the calories burned about my 1500 calorie diet level.
2800 + 2500 = 5300/3500 = 1.5 pounds lost per week.
This may better help you to gauge how much weight you will lose per week and determine if your caloric level is right for you. JC is designed so that you lose .5 to 2 pounds per week. If someone loses more, it is because they are exercising more and therefore burning more calories.
Hope that helps!
Wishing you all the best!
