Hi everyone,
I started jenny Craig on Tues of this week and weighed in today (Friday). I only lost 1.5 pounds and my counselor didn't seem so happy. I thought I would lose more since my hunger level is still high. Has any one experienced a slower loss in the beginning, but more rapid in later weeks? Just hopng for a little motivation.

JC is designed for you to lose 1% of your body weight per week, you lost the right amount. You must not have been carrying extra water weight, because the large losses the first couple of weeks are excess fluids, not fat. Stay on the plan it works.

You lost 1.5 pounds after only 4 days? JC is designed so you lose .5 to 2 pounds per WEEK!! You are doing great! Stick to it and the weight will come off!

You are doing awesome! You have to remember that some people who lose a lot of weight the first few weeks may have a lot more weight to lose overall than you do. You are doing great and should be very proud.

I lost 3.5 pounds my first week and my counselor wasn't that thrilled either.
By looking at the posts here, I see that the people who have a lot of weight to lose tend to lose it faster. I had 39.5 to lose (32 now), and it's slow. I just finished my 4th week and although my pants fit a little better, they still don't feel big and it's frustrating.
But I keep reminding myself that I am definitely less than I was when I started and I didn't put it on overnight. And as long as I am trending down, I'm okay with it.

OK I do NOT understand your frustration. And I certainly do not understand where your counselor is coming from either. A first week loss of 3.5 lb. is fantastic. You had just under 40 lb. to lose. That's not "a lot" when you are comparing your losses to people that say have 100 lb. to lose. They may lose more in the first couple of weeks but eventually when they get to the 40 lb. to go mark, they will slow down to where you are as well.
What's the hurry? You didn't put the weight on in a few weeks, why would you think you should lose it at that rate? Sounds to me like your rate loss is just about right.
I had 30 lb. to lose. In the end I lost 35 lb. My first week was 3.5 as well and my next week was .5 lb. But overall I averaged 1.4 lb. weight loss. It took me from April to October but I made it and then did another 5 lb. and that's where I stay. You're right on track. Please don't discount what you're doing or feel disappointed in ANY way.

(still shaking my head in amazement at your consultant not being thrilled with a first week weight loss of 3.5 lb.!)

My first week weigh in was for only 5 days, a short week too, and I lost 3 lbs and was kind of disappointed but today I just weighed in for my week 2 weighin and had lost another 7.4 for a total of 10.4. The best part is that after only 12 days I can fit into things that I haven't worn in months! Stick with it, it will work!!!
I have been on every other program except Jenny Craig and some I have even tried more than once. Nothing has worked like this and had me content. I am, however, adding alot of veggies to lunch and dinner menus and it is makeing larger portions.
You might want to buy the Volumetrics book too. Has alot of great tips on how to eat more but stick to the same calorie count!

Slower is better...but frustration is what we all feel. Keep at it...next week when you try those tight pants on...you'll be surprised...they won't be so tight. That's success.
By the way...those of you that posted that your consultant's were disappointed in your weight losses (I emphasize "LOSSES") GET NEW CONSULTANTS~~~~ Make them accountable...they wouldn't have jobs if it weren't for us. Sorry for being so harsh but this program does cost a lot of money and I believe in the power of the consumer. Our success is ours...but we need all the help we can get!!!!

dont worry about it - I only lost 1.5 in my first week, then 2.5 my second. I'm a slow loser but I lose, that's what counts...

I'm with GetSlim. I lost 1.4 my first week and 1.6 the second. The most I have every lost in a week is 2.4, well below some others around here. However, what matters is the lbs keep coming off. Slow and steady works for me - keep your chin up!
Take care,

Hi, I started on Monday too, and got weighed in on Saturday mornig. I lost 1.5 lbs too, and I felt it should have been more. BUT, I started in a pms week, got my period, and STILL lost 1.5 lbs. For the record, my scale at home (I weigh nude!)says I lost more...so regardless of what the center scale says..I feel better, my pants are a bit looser, and I am thinking next week will be better. No more water retention, cravings etc. and I didn't exercise at all! my goal this week, incorporate excercise and drink more water..and hopefully, I will loose more. DON'T give up! Everyone tells me it works...and I have not lost 1.5 lbs. in five days EVER...so don't forget, it wasn't even a full week..YOU CAN do it!!!

Hi everyone on this post - (note I am new to message boards so may need some practice or advice on proper "posting").
I am new as well (start 1/4). I lost 3 pounds my first week and my consultant was happy as she was for the 2.7 pounds the second week. But they warned me to expect a smaller loss the next time and they were correct. Only .5 this week. It was still a bit disappointing especially since I added 20 minutes of the Leslie Sansone in-home walking tape (which I really like).
But the great new is that I feel THIN and I am noticing some "roomy-ness" in my clothes that wasn't there before. I think that the pounds are important but as I feel better and feel like I LOOK better - who can complain?
I love reading the message boards because I am learning so much. My saving grace has been unlimited carrots and celery (I still have a very narrow view of the vegetable world).
Anyway - I so have enjoyed your posts and this program. Good luck to all!
