Full Version: New & Frustrated!!

I joined JC about 3 weeks ago and I thought that Jenny Direct would be better for me, but now I'm thinking maybe I should go to a center. I got my frozen foods and thought that I would receive a call from my consultant the day I got my food so they could explain to me how the program works, etc. - I NEVER got a call so I decided yesterday to call to find out why I hadn't gotten a call (I know now I should've called sooner) and they had no reason as to why I hadn't gotten a call, but set me up for my first consultation last night.
B/c I hadn't gotten a call I decided to start the program on my own and began eating the foods myself without knowing it was a set schedule I was supposed to be following so now I'm feeling like I need to just start all over when I get my next shipment of food b/c I ate what I wanted when I wanted and it's all screwed up now. I was told last night that the consultant that called me would try to get me a discount on the foods b/c it was their fault for never calling me so we will see.
I'm so discouraged now b/c of the way this has all started that now I'm thinking maybe I should just go to the center and not have to wait on someone to call me.......
Do you know if it's possible to switch from doing Jenny Direct to going to a center?? Can my membership be transferred??
Sorry to ramble on so much - I'm just so confused, lost, frustrated, discouraged, etc.
If you read all of this - THANK YOU!!!

I'm on my second week and I enquired about doing Jenny Direct. If I'm not mistaken you can switch to going to the center with no additional fee...I asked lots of questions when I signed up and decided to save the money on shipping and just go to the centre and pick it up. The only thing you can't do is pick up your food at the centre while you use Jenny Direct...you have to have it shipped to you. I like going to the center because you get weighed and measured when you go everyw eek...it really gives me something to look forward to.

Thank you for your reply - I feel the same way you do about going to a center b/c I think it would give me that extra motivation to keep going if I had to go to the center and get weighed & measured every week. I think I'm going to switch from JD to going into the center and like you said - I'll save on shipping of the food too!
Good luck to you in reaching your goal!

Yes you can switch your membership.
Still ... just because you were off to an unorganized start doesn't mean all is lost or that you have to "start over." I'm not sure why you would go ahead and start before you'd talked to someone, even if it was their fault. Your consultant should help you work everything out; it's only a few days and it won't make much difference in the long run. You DO want to learn how it is supposed to work, and it is a good idea to follow the planned menus for the first few weeks as you learn the ropes. But, there is some flexibility built into the program, so your consultant can help you make adjustments and go forward.
I think a lot of people who are overweight have a "perfectionism" streak, an all-or-nothing attitude that says that if you can't do it in the most perfect, ideal way possible, it's hopeless/worthless/whatever. Keep in mind that people -- even people in large service corporations -- make mistakes. Let this simply be a lesson in learning to roll with the punches and doing the best you can in trying circumstances. It's really important for your long-term success in maintenance as well as weight loss.
You'll be fine, it's just a minor blip in the road in the end.

Didn't you get menus with your order? I did. Also, when I initially called to join, the young man arranged for my first order to arrive on Friday and I would get my first call on Monday so I had the week-end to go through everything and would be prepared with any questions. I've had no problem at all with JennyDirect.

I did get menus with my order, but I guess I should've paid more attention to what I got in my packet and then I wouldn't realized what they were. I got my first order on Thursday and was scheduled to get my first consultation on the phone on either Thursday afternoon or Friday, but no one ever called like the person I placed my order with said they would. No one ever called until I called yesterday to tell them no one has called since I placed my order.

I too get Jenny Direct, only because the nearest center is 5 hours away.
I have been on the program 2 weeks now and love it.
I received my first shipment of food on a Wednesday and set up my consultation for Monday. I started the program on Thursday by following the menus that were with my package. So when my consultant called me on Monday-I was able to let her know how I was doing on the program and I was able to ask her any questions that arose.
If I were you, if you have a center near by I would go to the center. It will save you money, and you will be able to talk with a consultant face to face.
You may have had a rough start, but I think it will be easy to get back on track.
Take Care,

I got blank menus with my order. I went to the menu planner on the site and picked the menu type I wanted. JDirect, 1200 cal. Planned frozen, Week 1 & week 2 and it printed out the menu for the foods I had. The only thing it did not list was the foods where you have to add maybe a meat and a starch or a starch or whatever. So, since I just received my weeks 3 & 4 (I ordered a month of food broken down into two shipments) the food is the same as weeks 1 & 2. What I then did was to go back into the menu program and I picked the other option to personalize/frozen enhanced. I selected the same foods on the same days and when it printed out it actually lists if you need to add anything additional to that meal, so, it is all there in black and white.
I also spoke with my counselor and will be ordering what I want for food from here on out. I have gone into the menu program and planned menus so, I know what I need to order. I already know on April 1, I am hauling my filly up Maine to a trainer. I have already planned that menu knowing I will be in the truck most of the day. bars for breakfast, chicken salad kit for lunch. That way I know I have food I can eat while travelling and not have to sabotage myself by stopping somewhere to eat.
Don't get discouraged over just one glitch, you will get it all sorted out.

I swore you were talking to me when you said this...I never realized that but your totally right. I have had that attitude in the past...'well I can't get more than 5lbs off so why even try to get 10-15lbs off'. Thanks for the insight!!

I just joined too on JennyDirect. I got my food yesterday. My consultant called me yesterday afternoon, so I actually started today. Initially I had the same problem getting someone to call me back after three phone calls trying to get my first "grocery order" in. I had to be pretty persistent. I was lucky enough to have used the web to select my own menus for the month, so I had printed them off. When my box of food arrived yesterday it didn't have menus with it. I can see that it would have been very confusing for someone who didn't have previous experience with JC. I have such a crazy family and work schedule that I just thought that JennyDirect would work better for me. We'll see. Today was my first day. I noticed someone mentioned that often those of us who are "perfectionists" (to a fault) can often get that all or nothing attitude. I'm here to tell ya that she is right on! I have a tendancy to get frustrated and feel like throwing my hands up too when things don't go as you thought they would. Hang in there though. I have a lot of bad habits to change myself, and it's not easy when one has been so used to doing things a certain way. I'm hopeful that this whole experience will help me accept change (and sometimes frustration and discouragement) a little differently than I have in the past. Yesterday is gone... how can I make today better?!!
