I know diet sodas are free but I have stayed away since I started 2 wks ago. I drank 1 today just b/c I was at the store & it looked so good, ha. Anyway don't sodas make you hold water weight or something? Any1 who knows more about how it works & Jenny, should I expect to see a gain/or not so much lost at my weigh in(Mon) b/c of drinking it?

Hi,
I ask my counselor about this since I previously was a diet Coke junky. She said that I should try and wean off it a bit but she said that if I kept it to two cans a day, it shouldn't affect my weight loss.
I've been drinking one to two cans a day for the past two weeks and have still lost weight. I'm trying to cut back to one can a day but it's tough.
I'd say if you just drank one can all week, you shouldn't have a problem.
Good luck for your weigh in!

Diet soft drinks will not affect your weight loss in any way. It is commonly believed that they will for various reasons, but there is no evidence to support that. The only think you might want to watch is that SOME of them are high in sodium, and that can make you retain a little water.

As well despite not having sugar they can still do a number on your teeth if you overdo it because of the carbornation will still asist in tooth decay

I am also literally addicted to Diet Coke. I used to drink it from dawn until dusk. It was the first thing I had in the morning, like people with coffee addictions. I have slowly went down. It is actually hard to get in 64oz of water a day and have too many diet cokes. I only had two today. One this morning,(still haven't got over the morning caffine), and one tonight. I have one in the morning and tell myself I can only have another if I finish all my water for the day beforehand. I feel like I should eventually get rid of them totally, but on the other hand, I have tried diets where they want you to cut out all caffine and I know it never works for long. I always go back to the sodas, like a meltdown. I am happy with the weight that I am losing, and I'm happy I still have my diet coke.
