I'm starting my 6th week and so far I don't feel like I've connected with the counselor I have at my center. I tried a different center and that was a disaster. I signed up primarily because I thought the one-on-one support would be more beneficial than other programs I have tried. What are some of your experiences? Should I try to find another center?

Hi :-D, I had the same problem connecting with my counselor. But, I kind of forced the issue by raising questions myself and inquiring about new support materials, etc. This is now my 11th week and I think we are getting better connected. I think part of the problem is that she's thin as a rail and has probably never had an obesity problem. I won't hold that against her though. If you are not happy with your counselor, you can ask to try a different counselor. V.V.

You don't have to go to another center to switch consultants, just tell the Center or Program Director at the one that works best for you that you would like to try someone else. Also, you have to let the consultant know what YOU need from her to help with your journey (they aren't mind readers).

I have a new counselor and while she tries there is a lot of things she has to ask her colleagues. Next week, I am going to see another counselor because my center feels it is unfair to me to be new and see someone new. I thought that was great!

Thanks for the help. I think I just need to go in with a little more preparation.
