OK--Here's a thread to talk (complain) about the dreaded free food at work. Candy, Girl Scout cookies, pizza (and that's just today!). The only good thing is that my cube is kinda out of the way, but everytime I go to the printer, there it is!
The girl scout cookies are especially bad for me. I did really well not buying any this year (even for my son), but then my co-workers sell them for their kids and people in the office open the packages and leave them out for anyone who wants them. Can you hear my mouth watering and my stomach growling!!!

I mentioned that I can:
eat them all
do not eat them at all
try one bit and stop
At the beginning of the journey third solution was out of the question. Now I am proud to say - it works and it is great. One piece to try and I know - I don't need it anymore.
The only complaint I can make is last week pizza piece did not settly well with me and auch! I still visit washroom about every half an hour...

I am so right there with you. My boss wanted bagels for our staff meeting this morning. It took all my willpower and a HUGE bottle of water to not eat one. I could smell them and that was the worst part!!!
I did it though. As soon as the meeting was over, I went and ate my snack for the AM. A banana and yogurt. I also treated myself to fresh raspberries at lunch.

Yikes!! Girl Scout Cookies. I am a Girl Scout leader for my 5 year old and we have not starting selling cookies yet but we will in April. How could I not buy cookies from my own daughter, especially as a troop leader. But to me a sleeve of thin mints is one serving, no way to stop at one. I guess I can buy the ones I don't like and send them into my husband's office.

I know exactly what you mean, when you say free food at work, I work in a culinary school, so I'm exposed to wonderful food everyday, my tip to you is..just think how good you feel when you say "no thanks" . I personally feel stronger and closer to my goal. if I'm hungry I try to eat any of my meals or a diet coke. It is hard, but onc eyou get used to saying " no thanks" it actually works!! try it!

I was a G. S. leader for 7 years. Both of my daughters sold. I bought a case from each daughter. My girls were allowed to pick out two boxes they liked to keep at their grandma's house for after school snacks. The rest I took to the rest home near us immediately. The folks at the nursing home really enjoy them and some of them cannot afford to buy the cookies. Also if you give the cookies to the nursing home, it is a tax deductible donation whereas buying them for your own use is not. I remember the first year I went the whole year without eating a G. S. cookie. I felt GREAT!!!!!

Hi Pamo49
Yes, It is hard, But when you are cooking for other people, try to focus on how you will feel when you loose that extra pound, also ask someone in your family to try the food for you, so they can adjust the sasonings..another idea .make it fun and try to teach your hubby to cook during the weekend, if he is not interested try to prepare meals that your family can eat for few days, so you cook once or twice during the week, freeze the meals and they just have to re-heat accordingly..that way you can have a break from the kitchen and don't feel tempted.
It's all in our minds!! I hope this help!

How 'bout this for a food nightmare -- I work in the features department of a newspaper where we constantly are getting sent new food products, including cookies, candy, chips, etc. Not to mention the unending birthday cakes, "big-news day" pizza orgies and everyone around me ordering big, steamin' piles of french fries with their lunch.
