So I'll admit that I was taken in by the Winsor Pilates infomercial and ordered the DVDs a couple of months ago. I was doing the DVDs regularly before the holidays and then life got in the way. Now that I am in week 3 of JC I am trying to incorporate strength training/stretching/flexibility into my exercise regimen which includes fairly regular cardio workouts. When I had done the pilates DVDs in the past I could feel a difference the very next day and was even starting to see results fairly quickly. The nice thing was that I could do a 20-40 minute DVD in the evening after my kids went to bed and not get sweaty or charged up, it was actually nice and relaxing.
So here's the challenge: I am going to try to do a pilates DVD daily for the next 30 days (or double up if a day if missed). I would love for others to participate and we'll see how we feel and look at the end of that time. Everyone is welcome to participate and it can be any pilates DVD or tape, not just Winsor, whatever you have.
I don't alway get to the computer on the weekends, but I will try to post regularly so we can check in and chart our progress. If people would like, we could keep track of measurements before, 1/2 way and atthe end.
Who is interested?

Okay, so this challenge may not be catching on like wildfire, but I am going forward and others should feel free to jump in at any point. For the last 3 nights I have done both the Ab Sculpting and the Bun and Thigh Shaping Winsor Pilates DVDs. Each one is about 20 minutes or so long, so I spend about 40 minutes doing some pilates before bed. I can happily report that I feel great. I feel like my posture is better and I am conscious of my core or "powerhouse" when I am sitting, standing or driving. Even just remembering to engage your abdominal muscles throughout the course of the day makes you look thinner and strengthens those muscles. My jeans feel looser, but I am sure that that has to do with diet and the other exercise I'm doing too.
So, its not too late to jump on the bandwagon and join me in this challenge. When I post how many inches I've lost at the end, I am sure that will convince people!

First I have seen your post. I am actually going to a class on Monday at the gym. Not sure if I will do it everyday, but will try for most days.

I do Winsor pilates too-- but only about once a week (maybe I'll get it in twice if I'm lucky.)
I'm not always as faithful as I need to be so I'd like to join the challenge just so that I'll actually stick to my commitment!

Everyone is welcome and everyone should do what they can. Feel free to check in and report thoughts, progress or whatever else you would like. I am happy to have the company.

Hi Mom/lawyer
I will meet up with you on this challenge too. I have the Windsor dvd that I bought a couple years ago, and have never used (although I have done several Pilates classes at the health club ). Anyway, I too like to do something at night after the kids are settled in, so I will commit to doing this with you.
I will start tonight and will work for 3 sessions per week. I already do cardio and strenght training, but agree with you that the work for the back and core with Pilates is excellent.
I will log back on and let you know how it is going.
BTW did you take your waist Measurements, let's see how many inches this core tightening will work away on us!
talk to you soon,

Welcome garden girl!
I am 38 and I have 3 kids -- a 6 year son and 3 1/2 year old and 8 month old daughters.
I added the pilates about 2 weeks into JC and did not remeasure myself (although I wish I had), I figured that I would go with my original measurements. However, after 7 straight days of Winsor pilates DVDs before bed, I definately feel and see a difference. Several of my pairs of jeans are loose in the waist and getting looser in the thigh and butt (the area I most want to tone). If I have time I tend to do both the Winsor Abs DVD and the butt and thigh one, I like that combination. I throw in the advanced sculpting circle workout to spice things up (that sounds like such a sad commentary on what becomes exciting when you've got a bunch of little kids running around!)
Anyway, everybody keep up the good work and let me know how its going for each of you.

So yesterday marked 10 days in a row of doing 20-40 minutes a day of pilates dvds. I certainly feel great and perhaps it is wishful thinking but I swear I see positive changes in my body. My stomach is flatter and harder which is no small accomplishment after 3 pregnancies and my legs seem more toned. I feel like doing JC, cardio 4-5 times a week and daily pilates is changing my body in a way I haven't been able to in the past. It is weird though, because I feel like it is somehow too good to be true because the pilates is enjoyable and I don't break a sweat. I guess I always kind of thought that you had to really exert yourself and get sweaty in order to be lean and toned.
My WI next Tuesday will be my 1 month point on the program and it will be interesting to see how many inches I have lost.

So after one month on JC and 2 weeks of daily pilates, I have lost a total of 11.9 lbs and 12 inches. The break down of inches is as follows:
bust -1.0
waist -3.0
abdomen -5.5
hips -2.5
Other statistic about me are, I am 38 years old. I am 5'5" tall. I weighed 160.6 lbs when I began and I weigh 148.7 lbs now.
I will update these numbers after 30 straight days of pilates. I was starting to memorize the Winsor pilates DVDs so I bought some new ones to mix it up a little.

Welcome hope --
Think about taking your measurements before you start so we have a good point of reference. I have been doing a dvd nightly for almost 3 weeks and I feel like it is a habit now, but, even better I look forward to it as a way to unwind before bed.
Good luck,
Kristen
