Here is the new challenge for April. Lets see how many hours of exersize we can all do during the month of April. I am going to try once again to go for one hour per day. That's 30 hours this month. I was just a bit short last month, so I'll have to try harder. Keep moving everyone.

Count me in. I will go for 20 hours. Walking is my primary excersize.

Whooohooooo!!!! A new month, a new Challenge!
I pledged 20 hours last month and slightly surpassed that goal, so I'm going for a 10% increase to 22 hours this month
I'll be continuing with Yoga, Strenght Training and Cardio.

Good luck gals, we're going to do AWESOME!

Hi Everyone,
This is great! I pledge to do my excersize bike at least 20 min. per day. I have not been excersizing at all so want to start out with what is realistic for me. I beleive this adds up to about 15 hrs a month? Seems like it should be more. Oh well if I can do more than I am going to try. I want to build to an hour a day!

Welcome everyone-
It looks like we are gathering an awesome April group. We are going to burn sooo many calories. We're no fools.
Welcome espescially to the newbies; yourloanlady,2butterfly,Madalyn, and Joslyn.
I will try to add up hours each week as we go along probably on Sundays, so post on Saturdays what your total is so far for the month ( if you get a chance between all the exersizing.)
Start moving, and good luck.

Hi Ann and Everyone, Thanks for the welcome! I pledge to run on my treadmill 30 hours this month. I also do three sets of backward lunges, 15 lunges for each leg, holding ten pound weights...I pledge to do 12 (3 per week) in April. This is a great motivator to "work-out" together! Okay...off to the treadmill!
Hey Trix! Just a quick note..I've been eating EVERYTHING on the 1200 cal. menu, drinking LOTS of water and wanted to let you know that I'm seeing good changes on my scale! Thanks for the info and taking the time to reply. :-)

Hi Janet!
If you do 20 min. per day, for like, 30 days, that will come to 10 hours of exercise for the month of April. That would be an awesome goal!
Do what you can, and after a few workouts, see if you can just stay a minute or two longer. These extra minutes add-up fast
I look forward to working out with you!

Will you look at us go!!!! Wow... terrific workouts everybody!
For those newer to exercising, do what you can, we all started somewhere and as long as we keep on adding a little bit here and there and trying to set mini-goals, it's exercise and it's healthy... and progress too!
I think I've managed to kick my head-cold goodbye officially today. I felt so good (should be starting TOM today but it hasn't happened yet so I figured I'd just get on Jammin')
This morning I did 30 min. of Turbo Jam - Party Remix (high intensity cardio kickboxing), plus a 2 mile brisk WATP video (30 min.), and so far I have:
Starting goal for April: 22 workout hours
Less time done so far: 1 h 30 min.

Hi All! I've been jogging for many years; I started about 20 years ago walking the dog..got use to that and started jogging! You'd think that I wouldn't have to struggle with my weight with all that running. I could blame my age and slowing metabolism, but the real culprit was eating a lot of junk food. I'm learning a lot reading all your wonderful posts! I'm learning that if I don't eat small, healthy meals throughout the day, it doesn't matter HOW much I exercise. Thank you everyone...I love this thread...

Ok, you all talking about running and jogging made me dream last night that I was jogging!!!
I did pretty good but my bum foot-ankle (old nasty injury) started bugging me in my dream and I kept saying "I have to watch my ankle and my foot! I don't want to end-up on the sidelines again as I did a few weeks ago (March challenge).
You girls are in my head 24-7!!!!
I really think that once I am closer to my goal weight, it won't be such a strain on my ankle to do a bit of light jogging on my threadmill. I felt so "free" when I did it about a month ago, but then my ankle got upset and I was in pain for a couple of weeks.
But it was the first time since my injury about 6 yrs ago that I could do a light jog and it didn't give out on me right away, I was thrilled... from broken bones and torn ligaments galore (crushed foot) to doing a light jog on the threadmill...there's progress!
But I know the excess weight I'm carrying is still too much of a load for it (yes, even with my custom made orthotics and custom modified exercise shoes, house shoes and street shoes and boots - can you say "Goodbye to high heels for ever?")
In my dream last night, we were all jogging together on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning along a beach. Man, it was beautiful and we were all smiling, laughing and enjoying a great time together.
Like Leslie says "Sisters in Sweat!"
Got lots of TOM cramps and on meds for a few more days, but I'm itching to be exercising again... will be catching up with you all soon.
In the meantime, keep up the great work everybody - Workout for me for the next few days

Trix: I had an usual injury back in 1992 that surprises most people. You know how addicted to running I am - well back in 1992 I broke both ankles in a sky diving accident. I was in a wheelchair for months, graduated to a walker, then crutches and eventually could walk - however, that walk was difficult and with a limp. Because of all the hardware in my ankle, on cold days my ankle hurt so much I could barely walk. This went on for a long time. When I decided to take up an exercise, it was like I choose the one thing that would be the biggest challenge for me, and that was running. Of course when I started, I called it plodding.
I really can't say at what point my ankle was 100%, it was a gradual progression over the years. Luckily I never had to have the pins, plates or screws removed, my body never rejected the metal and I'm perfectly normal now.
so... most people ask me, what happened while you were skydiving? The funny thing is, I didn't actually break my ankles at the time of my last dive. I was a complete thrill seeker in those days, living life on the edge. I wanted to join a skydiving team, so me and my friends were taking our jumps to complete the amount of hours needed to compete. Prior to a jump one day, we had to practice tuck and roll moves off a plank into a gravel pit. Most likely it was jumping into a pit of gravel with a 100 pound pack on my back that caused a stress fracture of my ankle. I made my jump that day, no problems. It was 5 days later while coming out of a resturant that my ankle decided it had had enough, and it broke while stepping off the curb. In the fall, I broke the other ankle, and there I was, in the gutter with 2 swollen ankles the size of my head. In the end, everything worked out OK - but it was tramitic to say the least. And to add one final footnote, the resturant I was coming out of was called Vitellos, now known as the resturant Robert Blake killed his wife as she waited for him outside.
It takes time to heal from an injury, the last thing you want to do is reinjury it. In the meantime, do what you can, and keep up with your goals this month. I'm sure you'll do great - and soon those dreams of running will be a reality.

OMG Sherie!!! What a story you have!!! And look at you now!!!
That's amazing... truly amazing... thank you so much for the inspiration!
Although, honestly, when I was a teenager in high school, I was the worst runner in gym class. I wanted to run, but I was out of shape and had asthma from allergies - our track was outside near the woods and it was loaded with birch trees - major allergy trigger for me - so running and breathing in from the birch trees made for a nice asthma attack pretty much every single time
But I was so out of shape, not overweight by much, but just not in shape on the cardiovascular side of things.
I've always admired runners and joggers - I hope to be able to do jogging intervals here and there eventually during my walks!
In the meantime, I really enjoy doing cardio-kickboxing and weight lifting
"Mytimetolose" - so glad you can join us! Of course your commitment to exercise is "acceptable" - it's more than acceptable, any amount of time you can do is great! Welcome aboard!

Trix-try doing some yoga. You said you do that anyways. Do some poses that are easy on the ankles. Maybe some sitting stretch excercises, or some upward dogs. Then there is the standing pose where you just drop down one vertebrae at a time. That is nice on the back, just go gentle. Good luck, you are doing the right thing by giving your body a break.

Hey Change4! Hey gang!
Since we're not supposed to do yoga during TOM (at least no twisting positions, no bending forward positions and no upside-down positions as per Rodney Yee's videos), that doesn't leave much for me to do and it's just a tease then
That's ok, I run my body pretty hard on the cardio-kickboxing and weight lifting the rest of the month, so I don't mind taking a break for a few days during TOM. My body usually comes back stronger than before I take this little break.
I actually took a walk today (mall - ended-up running some errands and I parked far away on purpose so that we'd walk more).
I found some great workout pants and some tops at Wallmart and at Winners. I bought smaller sizes and pretty colors. I washed everything tonight, so it's all ready for me to wear to workout!
I received in the mail today my Joyce Vedral DVDs - the whole collection - I decided to treat myself to her workout dvds because she does some serious body building and it's not "watered-down stuff" like she says. I have a few of her videos (VHS, getting old and worn out) and was using those along with other body building videos that I have, but she has come out with new routines etc.... and she has a special on if you buy a bunch of her DVDs or VHS videos all at once.
So I got the whole kit and it arrived today!!! I'm really itching to get started with her whole 6 weeks plan (it's challenging but a lot of fun) - if it doesn't kill me, it will make me stronger
I went down to 140 lbs (pre-injury) with her videos and I was solid lean muscle from head to toes... I want to get there again and now that I have the JC healthy eating plan to boot, I know I will get great results.
I need a few more days to get the muscle relaxants out of my system (can't contract muscles with meds still in the body, it's very dangerous to injure yourself because the muscles can't react properly - done it in the past - learned my lesson!), so I'll see about doing a Leslie WATP video tomorrow morning and the day after, and get some mileage and minutes under my belt for the month of April until I can resume with my full exercise schedule.
You're all doing FABULOUSLY!!!! It's so nice to workout with you girls, even in my dreams! Maybe I'll see you all on the beach again tonight. I think we were in Santa Monica - I've never been there, but somehow that felt like the place we were at

Lisa Marie -- Glad to see you joining us! It's great to keep track of how much time we spend exercising. It's often an eye opener (often, not enough as we thought!)
Change4 -- I'm not a peanut butter fan, but at that calorie level, it's great to have a different kind of snack than JC snacks. It's not like the JC Snacks are actual "nutrition", they're really to teach us that we can incorporate a bit of a nutritionally void treat every day and still lose weight. Everything in moderation
Let us know how you like them!
How's everybody else doing so far this week? I'm getting ready to kick it into high gear the minute I'm done with TOM.

Hey Kathy and Lisa Marie!
Kathy -- good idea to shake things up with your food plan, our bodies have a tendency to get used to certain things pretty quickly. I've read somewhere that if you see a weight gain for 3 weeks in a row, then it's a true weight gain, otherwise, it's just body fluctuations... keep at it, you're doing great with your exercises!
Lisa Marie! I love working out with Gilad - I've had the chance to chat with him online a few times last year (he was hosting some chats for people that have his Quick Fit System) and he's a really nice guy. I have my old Bodies in Motion vhs tapes and also his Quick Fit System - that's a terrific workout set (both weights and cardio). I have so many workouts that I have to rotate some of them and I'll have to get back to working out with him later on his summer.
Keep up with the great workouts also. The Firm is quite challenging - you're going to shape up really great!
Tomorrow is my "rest" day and I have weigh-in first thing in the morning, so we'll see what happens. I've still got TOM but I feel light
Have a super Friday everybody!

Hey Change4, hey gang!
Just got back from my weigh-in, I've melted away another 0.9 lbs (still have TOM, so I know it will drop again next week).
I'm happy and feel great...
Change4 - I "chatted" (voice chat - he's not very good with keyboarding) online with him, haven't met him in person yet, but he loves to meet anyone who shows up at his office in Hawaii. If it wasn't such a hassle to travel with our yorkies to Hawaii (they have stricter regulations to bring in pets on the island than on mainland USA), we'd go there and I'd definitely show up at his doorstep to say hi
We don't travel without our fur babies. They loooooved going to Las Vegas but one of my dogs is terribly allergic to the rabbies shot and it's mandatory to go to the US even though she's a house dog and never meets anything other than dust-bunnies (nothing dangerous about our walks around our neighbourhood either) - so I'm not going to put her through a life threatening shot just so that we can travel to the US.
I've been on the phone with his assistant at the office a few times to talk as well, she's a gem.
Have a great day everybody! Keep on moving!

Trix-that is cool. You are funny, you don't travel w/o your "fur babies." That is a new phrase. lol Good job on your loss of .9, and even during TOM that is amazing.
Excercise Question to my Fitness Challengers:
I am feeling just emotionally and physicaly drained today. Although I would love to do cardio I am not feeling it. I want to do maybe an hour of yoga. That is good too, isn't it? I think that is what I need today.

Of course you can do yoga for your exercise today. I count my Yoga as part of my exercise time...
Listen to your body, if you feel like you need to back off from cardio or weights today, do yoga - your developing a great "ear" by listening to what your body is feeling and asking.
That's awesome!!!
Enjoy the yoga, and relax... there is such a thing as "overtraining" btw.
Enjoy!
P.s. You should have seen our "Empress" at the Ritz in Vegas last year - she owned the place - everybody loves a 4 lbs yorkie who walks around the place and thinks they own the multi-million dollar property and who loved to smell all the pretty flowers - she's a very clean girl, only goes in the bathroom on pee pads, never in the grass or anywhere outside

I am wondering since I have devoloped asthma since I last ran. It seems to be in check but it scares me sometimes. What type shoes do you wear? I really want to crank up the running, I mean start...lol. Take care everyone. I will clock back in with my yoga.
