Hi..
I was just wondering if anyone here had tried and still uses the firm tapes from back in the late 80's. You know, the ones where they are wearing jazz shoes and running in place with free weights. Don't know how safe that its now, but I used to have copies. I just recently re-ordered them because mine were in pretty bad shape.
Does anyone like them and still use them? Any comments? I can remember when I used them about a year back they really worked me! Hope to get that feeling again now that I am serious about losing weight!

I bought my first Firm tape back in 1991. Back then they had a series of videos 1 thru 6 and I ended up buying the whole series. I have not tried the recent Firm videos to compare them but I still think my older videos are wonderful. The workouts where you actually run in place with weights in your hands require very light weights (1 1/2-2 lbs) so I don't think they are unsafe. There is one video that uses 5 lb weights when you jog in place. I have not added them back into my workout routine yet because I am waiting to take off a few more pounds first. All of the lunges and squats with weights would put alot of strain on my knees at my current weight.

Hi Bella!!!
Of the "classic FIRMS," I believe I have 1, 3, 5 and 6.
I've only done the first one out of those.
I'm a chicken.
I went on a FIRM binge over a year ago, and have 20 of their videos. They have been collecting dust for the last year.
I am the world's BIGGEST klutz, and can never follow the aerobic moves..I'm also 5'0-5'1, so can't do the leg presses correctly.
But I dusted off my copy of Body Sculpt last night, and did it the whole way through (minus the leg presses of course )..I'm DETERMINED to use them, because I know they work.
I know I got a little off-topic, but if I were a bit less of a wimp, I'd be doing Volume 1 every day. It's a GREAT video, doesn't miss a thing, and it's got the "tuba fart" music!!!
Take care,
Tanya

Oh WOW-I thought I was the only one who'd admit to still having those 80s and 90s style Firm videos! I still love them, even with the corny music and up-your-butt thong style leotards they wear. Nothing I've purchased for home use has ever given me a better workout. I have a couple of Tamilee Webb dvds, and they are okay, but I never have felt the exhaustion I do after a Firm tape or dvd. I purchased some of the new ones (on Ebay for less than retail-yay!) and I have to say they are okay, but still not as good as the classics. And of course there seem to be more "gadgets" they want you to buy, like a stick that looks like a broom handle, for about $90. LOL. Anyway, glad to see there are fellow Firm fanatics still out there!

I, too, am a FIRM freak... these tapes really have toned my arms and legs well - the old ones are WAY better than the new ones... but the music and sets are so funky... I like to play my own music and just watch the TV...*L* I'll never give up these tapes... !It's good stuff!
Got to watch some of the outdated exercises though..good thing they are easily modified
