WHY THIS BOARD - I see all the women bragging about their weight loss so I figured it’s my turn to tell the men that this program does work. My wife (OlyMom) and I started this lifestyle change together and currently are both nine pounds from our half way goal!
THE PROGRAM - I haven't deviated from the program much at all, don't get me wrong I've gone out with the guys for a few beers and hot wings (notice Apr 10th weigh in) but got right back on track. Vegetables, fresh fruit, fat free yogurt, and fat free jello are crucial to keeping my stomach full and mind off food that is not part of the program. I eat ALL of my food on time every day. I truly believe that eating every two hours or so is the key to my higher metabolism today. Thanks to green salads and fat free jello I can honestly say I have not been hungry while on this program. I also try to drink two to three liters of water every day.
EXERCISE - I haven't exercised religiously for a couple weeks now but try to get to the gym three days a week (after the kids go to bed around 8:00PM) on an elliptical trainer for 30-45 minutes and 20-30 minutes of weight lifting super sets afterwards. The super sets keep my heart rate up and I believe burn more calories than normal lifting. My weekly lifting schedule goal is: Monday workout upper body muscles that push, Wednesday upper body muscles that pull, and Friday lower body. I walk the dog once or twice a week for 1-2 miles; my wife walks him the other five or six days for 3 to 4 miles. If I don't get to the gym or walk the dog I try to get outside and do yard work as fast I can to build up a good sweat. My parents gave me their old treadmill & I also bought the variable weight dumbbells from that company that bows and flexes along with an incline / decline bench to eliminate the gym excuse. To bring variety to our workouts my wife and I just bought new bicycles and hope to wear the tires bald over the next few months!
MOTIVATION - Zero energy, medical challenges, 4XLT shirts, and a 7 year old daughter embarrassed of her overweight dad was my initial motivation. Proving to people that I can lose ALL the weight, being able to keep up with my 7 & 4 year old, and participating in an active lifestyle once again is my motivation today.
I’ll try to keep this updated and link some pix soon.
